truly one of the most quintessential ‘oh…THAT’S sammy<3’ moments to me is in mint condition when they’re looking up online about a victim and when sam goes to read the mean comments where someone’s called him a ‘bitch’ and he just uncomfortably trails off and won’t even say the word! like ok totebag for the farmer’s market ok ally ok oh…i can’t say that! that is a very sweet man trying to be as kind and considerate as possible even when it’s like..sammy i won’t be upset if you read the word ‘bitch’ it’s ok i’ll still know you feel bad about tossing it around in your 20s during the bush era i swear it’s FINE

hi! i would love to elaborate and provide some clarification if i can. fair warning though: parts of this will seem very blunt. i promise i’m not trying to be rude, i’m just not the best at phrasing 😬.

so for starters, i never said that dean betrayed cas (even though he has); i said that there are several times where you can tell dean wanted to betray cas.

next, this interpretation comes from my most recent rewatch of the show that started in october and ended sometime around mid- to late-december. long time for a rewatch, i know, but college is hard lol. and while i was rewatching the show, i was struck by just how mean dean gets (especially towards sam and later cas) when he gets back from purgatory. post-purgatory, it became apparent that dean’s love (for sam, for cas, for jack, etc.) is extremely conditional. at various points from seasons 10-15, if [insert character] wasn’t serving a purpose for dean, or helping dean in some say, dean had very little to do with them.

so, as much as i love destiel, unfortunately there just… isn’t a lot of actual evidence for it in the show’s canon. there are a few fleeting moments where it seems like dean is interested in cas in that way, sure; but ultimately i don’t feel like it was ever the intention (of both jensen and the writers) for dean to love cas back. which honestly really sucks, because i would have loved to have seen destiel actually play out onscreen.
