Hi all,

Having come to the end of my busy season at work and come to the conclusion that I still don't have enough time to pursue all the creative endeavors I would like to, I've made the difficult decision to put this comic on an indefinite hiatus.

I may return to it someday, but at this time I can't justify the amount of time and energy it takes me to make what have become increasingly infrequent updates.

So, this is goodbye for now. Thank you to everyone who showed interest in my silly little cat comic. I've learned a lot while making it that I hope to apply in future projects. Perhaps I'll return someday, but until then, I wish you all the best.

Not sure how long it will be. I may post updates occasionally, but not on any kind of regular schedule for a while.

As much as I love these characters and this story, making updates takes a lot of time and energy that I just don't consistently have right now.

No plans to discontinue the story at this time, just need some breathing room.

Framed? Or is Stemstar telling the truth with evidence?

Okay anon, I literally drew this as fast as I could (and it still took like four hours), so please forgive any style or coloring issues.

Since I may or may not get around to explaining this in the comic, please see below:

Lightpaw was the only surviving kit of Stemstar's one and only litter. Though she had been trying for seasons for a litter, it took until she was nearly 90 moons old for her to successfully carry one to term. Of that litter, one kit was stillborn and and two faded only a week or so after they were born. Stemstar named the remaining kitten Lightkit, for the light she brought to her life, and tried to be grateful that one of her kits had survived.

All through Lightpaw's kithood and apprenticeship (up to when she died at only 8 moons old), Stemstar was fiercely protective of her daughter. She chose Prairieprance, her trusted deputy (bright orange she-cat in the comic above) to mentor her so that she could be sure she was safe and demanded frequent reports on her progress.

When she learned that a DahliaClan patrol had attacked her daughter, she was furious, and nearly declared war on the spot. Prairieprance managed to talk her down from that ledge by assuring her that she and Elkhollow had made sure there was never any real danger, and as Lightpaw's injuries were superficial, Stemstar reluctantly agreed not to attack DahliaClan.

Two moons later, Prairieprance's patrol returned carrying Lightpaw's body. During training, the ground had collapsed beneath her. By the time the patrol managed to dig her free of the collapsed earth, she had stopped breathing. The cleric, Pranceflicker, did everything she could to revive her, but it was no use. Lightpaw was gone.

This time, Stemstar couldn't be made to see reason. She couldn't accept this as a tragic accident. She needed someone to blame. Still paranoid after the attack on the border patrol, she decided that the blame rested on DahliaClan's shoulders.

This is why she accused them of trespassing and tunneling on WhistleClan territory. It was the only way she could connect Lightpaw's death to the clan she was determined to accuse.

So, no, DahliaClan was not responsible for Lightpaw's death and they haven't been spying/trespassing/stealing prey or any of that.

Stemstar just needs someone to blame and some action to take in the face of her overwhelming grief.

TLDR; DahliaClan is not responsible for Lightpaw's death. Stemstar has just experienced a deep and unexpected loss and is looking for someone to blame. She thought of DahliaClan because of Billowpaw's attack on Lightpaw a couple of moons earlier and the rest is history.
