Title: Wings
Pairing: Tododeku
Words:1,419
Notes: hhhh this took me a m o n t h to write  also posted on ao3 here {soulmate au where your soulmate has wings}
Midoriya grew up hearing all about quirks and soulmates. Learning that his chances of getting a quirk lessens as he grows up, Midoriya hopes beyond hope that he still has a soulmate. Surely, he isn’t part of the unlucky 1% of the world that’s both quirkless and without a soulmate. At least, Midoriya really wishes he wasn’t.
Most of what he knows about soulmates he learned online or from his mother.
(“Why are you suddenly so interested in soulmates?” his mother asked him one day when she walked into his room and saw him reading up on them.
“It’s just that…” Midoriya hesitated, “what if I don’t have a soulmate? I’m already quirkless, what if I end up alone too?”
His mother’s eyes softened and she gave him a hug. “Oh sweetie. You won’t, I know you won’t.”
Midoriya pulled away to look at her. “What was it like, meeting dad and knowing he was your soulmate?”
She chuckled and sat on the edge of his bed. “It was… wonderful. I saw his wings first but I couldn’t say anything to him. I was too shy to. So, I just got to know him, what he likes and dislikes, what makes him laugh, just everything I could. And then we started dating. But I still couldn’t tell him that I saw his wings.”
She paused, as if she saw something Midoriya couldn’t.
“And then one day, he stopped and stared at me. It was like he could see all my secrets. And he just goes, ‘Oh. They’re beautiful,’ and I knew right away he saw my wings. I started crying and he freaked out,” she laughed and Midoriya was startled to see tears in her eyes. “We got married and had you soon after that. And then he… left.”
A few tears ran down her cheeks and Midoriya jumped and went to hug her.
“Ah, I’m sorry, Izuku, I didn’t mean to cry,” she sniffled and he tightened his hold on her.
“N-no I’m sorry! I shouldn’t have asked.”
His mother pulled away and wiped her tears on her sleeve.
“Come on, dinner’s almost ready.”)
Training with All Might took up most of his free time. Midoriya hardly had any time to even think about soulmates and whether he had one or not. He was just excited that he was finally getting a quirk.
He trained as much as his body would allow him to. Soon, it was the entrance exam for UA. He had no problems with the written exam (well, except for that one question, and that other one, and…), but he was worried about the practical exam. Sure, he had the strength now, but he didn’t know how to control it.
He went home that day feeling like crap. He got no points, zero. He had to give up his dreams of being a hero after all. All Might would be so disappointed in him!
He spent the next few days moping around his room until his letter from UA came in. After that, Midoriya couldn’t keep the smile off his face.
(Walking into class 1-A, Midoriya was a nervous mess. Not only was he in UA, but there was always a chance that he shared a class with Kacchan (his fears were confirmed the moment he stepped in: Kacchan was being scolded by the scary glasses guy for having his feet on the desk).
He looked around the class, his eyes stopping on a boy with red and white hair. He didn’t know why, but he felt drawn to the dual-colored hair boy. The boy suddenly looked straight at him, and Midoriya swore he saw surprise cross his face before he quickly looked away.
His heart started beating wildly in his chest and Midoriya could feel his cheeks burning. He couldn’t think too much about it however, as scary glasses guy took notice of him.
“You! I seem to have misjudged you…”)
Midoriya found himself watching Todoroki. He didn’t exactly mean to, but when class was boring his eyes would drift over to the quiet boy.
He noticed how his eyebrows would scrunch when he worked through a problem, how he would lightly tap his fingers on his desk without realizing, how sometimes his own eyes would stray over to Midoriya’s.
The green haired boy always looked away first, too embarrassed. Yet he couldn’t help but think that maybe Todoroki was interested in him the way he was interested in the boy.
(When Todoroki pulled Midoriya to the side during the sports festival, he told him about his family. Midoriya struggled to say something when the other boy was finished, but his gaze made him feel like Todoroki could see right through him.
“W-why are you telling me this?”
He didn’t think he would get a response at first. The taller boy scanned him up and down, yet the shorter boy felt like he wasn’t looking at him, not really.
“I trust you,” Todoroki finally said. His heart stopped for one second and the next second it started to thump loudly in his chest.
Todoroki didn’t wait for a response. Instead, he walked away from Midoriya, leaving him flustered.)
Not much changed after that exchange, except Midoriya caught Todoroki staring at him a lot more often, a thoughtful expression on his face. It made Midoriya wonder what he was thinking about.
Midoriya tried getting closer to the other boy, but it was only after the whole Stain event that Todoroki really started opening to him.
(“Hey, Todoroki can I ask you something?”
The two were walking to class together after happening to get to the school gate at the same time.
Todoroki hummed in agreement.
“What do you think of soulmates?”
His steps faltered for a moment before walking normally again as if nothing happened.
“Can’t wait for mine to realize we’re soulmates,” he muttered quietly, but Midoriya heard him.
“Wait, you mean you already know your soulmate? You can see their wings?” Midoriya asked, surprised. Todoroki only nodded. Midoriya stopped in his tracks, mind whirling with thoughts, yet one thought stuck out the most: who is his soulmate?)
There was a part of Midoriya that wanted to ask Todoroki who his soulmate was. But a bigger part was afraid to know, afraid to find out that it wasn’t him.
He doesn’t know when exactly he started liking the other, but he did and it hurt to think that maybe they weren’t meant for each other. He tried not to dwell on it, putting those thoughts to the back of his mind as he continued getting to know Todoroki.
He wondered when he’ll find his soulmate.
(Midoriya had invited Todoroki over to study so there they were, Midoriya laying on his bed and Todoroki on the floor leaning against the bed. Midoriya was looking over his notes, trying to make sense of what they had learned that day.
“Can you explain that one more time? I don’t really understand how…” Midoriya trailed off as something red caught his eye.
He looked over at Todoroki, sitting up and eyes widening as he realized that they were Todoroki’s wings. Todoroki’s wings which he could now see, Todoroki’s wings which meant they were soulmates.
“Oh my god,” Midoriya whispered, and the other boy (his soulmate!) turned around. He took one look at Midoriya’s face before he was standing, concern flashing across his face.
“Midoriya, are you okay?” he asked, but the shorter boy didn’t hear him.
He was staring at Todoroki’s wings (his left wing was white, his right was red, and Midoriya registered that it was the opposite of his hair) as they spread out across his room. He was mesmerized by them. He got up from his bed, hand stretched out as he tried to touch the wings. He was surprised that he could, the feathers soft on his fingers. Todoroki shuddered even though he couldn’t actually feel the touch.
“You- you can see them now?” Todoroki asked softly.
Midoriya only nodded, his hand running through the feathers. He suddenly stopped, retracting his hand as if he was burned.
“I-I’m sorry! I just started touching your wings without asking first!”
“No, it’s okay. It was… nice,” he gave a small smile and Midoriya responded with a big smile of his own.
“I was wondering when you were going to see them,” the winged boy said. “I didn’t think it would happen while we were studying, though.”
“Neither did I,” Midoriya laughed, “but I’m glad it did.”)

Title: Winged Soulmate
Pairing: Tsukihina
Words: 1,230
Notes: Because I love wings and soulmate AUs so I combined them oops
Tsukishima often wondered about the wings behind Hinata’s back. They were a bright orange color at the top that faded as it reached the bottom where the tips of his feathers were pure white. It suited him.
He wondered when he got his wings, how they got to be so bright, why he was the only person he knew with wings.
He found himself jealous over it, found himself hating Hinata over it. How could such an annoying person have such beautiful wings?
Tsukishima was constantly watching Hinata. Watching his wings fold into his back when he got nervous, watching as they shook whenever Hinata was excited, watching them get stiff when he was angry.
But his favorite was when he jumped.
When Hinata jumped, his wings would spread out, slowly beating and Tsukishima finally understood how Hinata could jump so high.
(“You’re cheating,” Tsukishima muttered to Hinata one day
“Huh?” Hinata stopped in his tracks.
“You’re cheating,” Tsukishima repeated and Hinata turned to face him.
“H-how am I cheating?” Tsukishima looked away from Hinata’s face to stare at his wings. They were curling around his body almost protectively and Tsukishima sighed.
“Never mind,” he said, facing Hinata again. “It doesn’t matter.”)
He wondered then, if Hinata was aware of his wings. Surely he’d notice the bright, orange wings protruding from his back, right?
But as he continued to watch Hinata practice, he realized that maybe Hinata didn’t actually know about his wings. He never seemed bothered when his wings moved, never reached out to touch his wings, never did anything to indicate he knew.
Why was Tsukishima the only one able to see them?
(“You know, there’s a legend that your true soulmate has wings,” Yamaguchi mentioned.
Tsukishima choked on his drink and Yamaguchi awkwardly patted his back. Hinata’s wings flashed before his eyes and his eyes widened.
“Are you okay, Tsukki?”
“Yeah, just, where did you hear that from?”
“Hm? Oh, I heard Tanaka and Nishinoya talking about it.”
“And you believe them?” Tsukishima asked.
“Well, I mean, I never met anyone with wings yet, but you never know.”)
Was it true? Was Hinata Tsuksihima’s soulmate? He couldn’t believe it, didn’t want to believe it. Hinata his soulmate? Please.
It didn’t change the fact that they were barely even friends, how could they end up together?
(“Hey, Tsukki!”
Tsukishima looked up from his phone to stare at Hinata, his wings vibrating in excitement.
“Don’t call me that,” he mumbled.
“Why not?” Hinata tilted his head in confusion.
“Because you’re not my friend.”
Hinata’s smile fell for a moment and his wings drooped and Tsukishima immediately wanted to take it back. But then the smile was back on his face.
“The team wanted to go out for dinner to celebrate our victory in the practice match. You’re invited of course, but you don’t have to come if you’re busy.
Tsukishima stared at his wings still drooping and felt a twinge of guilt.
“I guess I can come,” he sighed.
Hinata’s wings perked up and Hinata’s face brightened. Tsukishima had to stop the smile he could feel growing on his face as Hinata grabbed his arm and started dragging him away.
“Great! Let’s go!”)
He wondered what Hinata’s feather felt like. Were they soft? Hard? Rough? Smooth?
He wondered if he’d be able to touch it at all since he’s the only one that seems to notice them.
(The team was huddled together during the time out in a practice match.
Daichi was talking but Tsukishima hardly paid him attention. He was focused on Hinata who happened to stand next to him. Sweat dripped down his face and he was panting harshly. His wings moved up and down as he breathed and Tsukishima couldn’t stop watching them.
Tsukishima’s hand twitched, wanting to just run his fingers through the feathers. He stopped himself before he did and forced himself to listen to Daichi, missing the knowing smile on Suga’s face.)
He often wondered what his own wings looked like. He tried many times to try to touch them but his hands always went through thin air.
He was sure he had wings. If he could see Hinata’s wings as his soulmate then Hinata should be able to see his.
(“It’s different for everyone,” Suga had explained to him once.
“What do you mean?” Tsuksihima asked.
“Well for example, Nishinoya was able to see Asahi’s wings the moment they first met, but Asahi only saw Nishinoya’s wings after he returned to the volleyball team. Same thing with me and Daichi. Daichi saw my wings when we first met but his appeared for me in our second year.”
“Oh.”
Suga smiled gently. “Don’t worry about him not being able to see your wings. It’ll happen eventually.”)
Tsukishima wondered when he started liking Hinata as a person and not just for his wings. He wondered when he found Hinata’s voice no longer annoying, or when he found Hinata’s height cute, or why his heart beat just a little bit faster when Hinata said his name.
He found himself working harder at volleyball, just to hear the praise Hinata gives him, and ignoring all the looks he’s given, because of course the whole team knows about him and Hinata by now.
He wonders when Hinata himself will know.
(“Hey, Tsukishima?” Hinata asked hesitantly.
Tsukishima paused in packing his things to look at Hinata.
“I, uh, I j-just-”
“Spit it out already,” Tsukishima said, surprised he wasn’t as irritated as he thought he would be.
“I was just wondering if maybe you want to go on a date? With me?”
Tsukishima stood up and looked down at Hinata, watching his wings fold into his back.
“When and where?”
Hinata beamed, his wings spreading out and Tsukishima couldn’t help but give a small smile of his own.)
He wondered if he could ever get used to the feeling of Hinata’s small hand in his own.
They gained a lot of attention. Most people were shocked that the ‘cold’ guy could date such a sweet guy.
Hinata’s wings always sagged whenever he heard comments like that and Tsuksihima did his best to make sure Hinata didn’t hear them.
Hinata still hadn’t shown any sign that he could see Tsukishima’s wings. Tsukishima tried not to worry about it, keeping Suga’s words in his mind.
(Hinata paused in mid-sentence, his eyes going wide as he stared behind Tsukishima.
“Hinata?” Tsukishima asked, his heart beating wildly in his chest. Can Hinata-?
“You… have wings?” Hinata asked, dumbfounded. “You have wings! How did you get wings?”
Tsukishima laughed, actually laughed, as relief flooded his body.
“You can see them now?” His voice was gentle. Hinata stared at him in confusion.
“Did you not know that our soulmates have wings?”
Hinata’s eyes widened. “Soulmates? We’re soulmates? Wait, but then-”
He spun around, looking at his back before turning around again with a frown.
“I don’t see my wings,” he mumbled.
Tsukishima glanced behind him and frowned too. “I guess we can only see our soulmate’s then. But you definitely have them.”
Hinata perked up again. “What do mine look like?”
“They’re orange like your hair and fade into white at the tips.”
“Oooh! That’s so cool! And yours are black with white dots. Like the night sky.”
“Hm, we’re complete opposites then. You’re the morning and I’m the night.”
Hinata smiled. “It’s perfect.”

Haikyuu!! Rare Pair Week Day 7
Prompt: free prompt/graduation
Pairing: Kurokenhina/very brief mention of Bokuaka
Notes: aka my excuse to write a Harry Potter AU oops
Hinata gazed into the fire place in the Gryffindor common room, a cat on his lap. He silently pet it while every once in a while he would look at the entrance.
Kuroo should have been back from his detention with Professor McGonagall half an hour ago and Hinata was starting to get worried. What if he did something else and his detention was extended? What if the Slytherins attacked him while he was walking back? What if some wild animal found a way into Hogwarts and killed him? What if—
The door to the entrance opened and Hinata looked up. Kuroo was walking in, smiling lazily at Hinata. He sat next to Hinata, placing the cat in his lap as he did so.
“How long has he been like this?” Kuroo asked, in lieu of a greeting
“Ever since you left for your detention,” Hinata replied. “Which, by the way, you came back late from. What happened?”
“Aw, were you worried about me?” Kuroo teased, and then hissed as the cat bit him. “Kenma!”
Hinata smiled as Kenma crawled back into his lap. “Hah! He likes me better!” Kenma seemed to nod at Hinata’s words as he sat in between his legs, settling his head on Hinata’s knee.
“So rude, Kenma,” Kuroo muttered. He draped his arm around Hinata’s shoulders and Hinata shuffled closer to him. “McGonagall decided to lecture us after detention. I just don’t understand why she couldn’t lecture us during our detention and wasting my time.”
Hinata snorted. “Well that’s what you get for starting a food fight with Bokuto. Speaking of, where is he?”
Kuroo shrugged. “I think he said something about trying to sneak into the Ravenclaw dorm to see Akaashi.”
Hinata rolled his eyes as he started petting the cat again. Soon, the only sounds in the common room were of Kenma’s soft purring and the crackling of the fire.
“I’m starting to think that Kenma forgot how to change back into a human,” Hinata said, breaking the silence after several minutes.
It was Kuroo’s turn to snort when Kenma looked up from Hinata’s lap to glare at him. Kenma hopped off the couch and suddenly transformed into a person.
“I was trying to sleep,” Kenma said. “Is that too much to ask for?”
Kuroo motioned to his side Hinata wasn’t on and Kenma obediently sat next to him. He sighed contentedly as Kuroo wrapped his arm around his shoulders. He reached across Kuroo’s chest just as Hinata did the same and the two held hands across Kuroo.
The three were just drifting to sleep when the entrance barged open to reveal Bokuto. Bokuto pretended to gag when he saw the three of them staring at him.
“Get a room!” He yelled, making his way to the boys dorm.
“We’re in a room, you just happened to walk into it,” Kuroo said, smirking when Bokuto flipped him off.
Hinata chuckled before yawning loudly.
“Come on,” Kuroo said, getting up and making Hinata and Kenma stand up as well. “You guys are going to bed before you both pass out on me.”
Hinata and Kenma complied, and, still holding hands, made their way up the stairs to the boy’s dorm. They paused outside the fifth year room to give Kuroo a kiss on both cheeks. They went in and collapsed onto Kenma’s bed without changing their clothes and were soon asleep.

Haikyuu!! Rare Pair Week Day 3
Prompt: date/seasons
Pairing: Oihina
Notes: Writing this hurt my heart :/
Winter was Hinata's favorite season.
It was winter when he first met Oikawa. It was winter when Oikawa asked him to a first date. It was winter when they first told each other 'I love you.'
It's when Hinata has the perfect excuse to move closer to Oikawa when they walk. It's when they cuddle together during a movie to keep warm. It's when Hinata wears Oikawa's sweaters without Oikawa complaining.
It was winter when Oikawa proposed, on their five-year anniversary. It was winter when they had their wedding. It was winter when they bought their first house together.
Spring was Hinata's least favorite season.
It was spring when he and Oikawa first fought. It was spring when Oikawa accused Hinata of cheating on him.
It was spring when Oikawa told him that he was dying, that there was no cure. It was spring when Hinata first witnessed Oikawa break down in from of him. It was spring when Oikawa collapsed, and Hinata had to take him to the hospital.
It was spring when Hinata held Oikawa's hand for the last time. It was spring when they told each other 'I love you' for the last time.
It was spring when Hinata went to Oikawa's funeral.

Haikyuu!! Rare Pair Week Day 2
Prompt: distance/language
Pairing: Yamahina
Notes: Based on that one headcanon that Yamaguchi is half-Spanish
Hinata frowned at his phone, hurriedly writing in a notebook. Yamaguchi would be home in almost ten minutes and Hinata wanted to be done before he got home.
He looked over what he wrote and smiled, satisfied with it. He heard the door open and he quickly hid his notebook under his pillow.
“I’m home!” Yamaguchi said, walking into their room.
Hinata stood up to give Yamaguchi a kiss. “You’re home early,” Hinata said, trying to hide his nervousness as Yamaguchi moved closer to their bed.
“I found a faster route home.” Yamaguchi replied, collapsing on to the bed. Hinata gulped nervously. “I’m gonna take a nap. Wake me up in an hour?”
He was already drifting to sleep when Hinata agreed.
Hinata sat down at their desk with a sigh. He debated whether he should try to get the notebook but decided against it. He didn't want to wake Yamaguchi during his nap. He turned on his computer hoping it would distract him.
He was so caught up in his computer that he didn’t notice Yamaguchi wake up forty minutes later.
“What’s this?” Yamaguchi voiced from behind him. Hinata spun around in his chair from fright, his hand clutching at his chest.
“What’s what?” He asked, ignoring Yamaguchi’s chuckle. His heart stopped when he saw the notebook Yamaguchi had in his hand.
“N-nothing,” he stuttered. He moved to grab the notebook but Yamaguchi held it above his head where Hinata couldn’t reach. Hinata pouted as Yamaguchi opened to a certain page.
“Care to explain what this is?” Yamaguchi asked. His mouth was twitching as he fought a grin from his face.
“I-it’s nothing! Give it back” Hinata jumped but Yamaguchi was expecting it and had moved away.
“Shall I read it to you then?” Without waiting for Hinata to respond he started to read. “Yo te-”
“Wait!” Yamaguchi paused. Hinata was bright red and looked extremely embarrassed. “Um, I wanted to read that to you myself,” he mumbled, clearly nervous.
Silently, Yamaguchi handed Hinata his notebook and patiently waited for him.
After a few moments of silence, Hinata spoke.
“Yo te amo con todo mi corazon. Me hacer feliz cuando estoy triste. Me hacer reir cuando querer llorar. Quiero estar contigo por todo mi vida,” Hinata glanced shyly at Yamaguchi from over the top of his notebook. Yamaguchi had a slight blush on his cheeks and was smiling. Hinata slowly uncovered his face.
“How-” Yamaguchi cleared his throat when it came out higher than he’d like. “How long did it take you to write that?”
“About an hour,” Hinata mumbled. “It was short but Spanish really confuses me! But I wanted to do this for you.”
“Why?”
“Because I love you!”
Hinata had the brightest smile Yamaguchi’s ever seen. It was warm and sincere and Yamaguchi never felt more loved than he did in that moment.
“I love you, too.”
[Translation: I love you with all of my heart. You make me happy when I’m sad. You make me laugh when I want to cry. I want to be with you for all of my life.]

Haikyuu!! Rare Pair Week Day 1
Prompt: beginnings/celebration
Pairing: Daihina
Notes: This is my first time posting something of mine online oh man
Hinata looked around the empty house, a happy smile on his face. An arm curled around his waist and he automatically leaned into the touch.
"What do you think of the house?" Daichi asked.
Hinata turned to look at him. "It's perfect," he said.
Daichi smiled and kissed the top of his head.
"I'm glad you like it." He removed his arm around Hinata’s waist only to grab his hand and led Hinata around the house.
“Now all we need to do is pack our things and we can move in,” Daichi said.
“We can finally get a dog!” Hinata exclaimed.
Daichi chuckled. “We can get as many dogs as you want. It’s a pretty big house.”
Hinata beamed at Daichi as he peered into a room. “Ooh! This would be the perfect room for our child!”
Daichi started to choke and Hinata rubbed soothing circles on his back.
“Are you okay, Daichi?” Hinata asked once Daichi recovered.
“Y-yeah, I’m fine, but you want children?”
Hinata blushed and laughed a little nervously. “Ah, um, maybe? I-I know we haven’t really talked about kids but I just thought it’d be nice, you know, if we could adopt and take care of children that don’t have a home and—”
Daichi stopped Hinata with a kiss. He pulled away after a moment and smiled softly at Hinata who blushed even more.
“That’s a great idea, Shouyou,” Daichi whispered. He took Hinata’s hand again and started to walk again.
“Hm, do you want a boy or a girl? Or maybe both? This house has enough rooms for two children.”
Daichi got a blinding smile from Hinata in response before Hinata started rambling about children. Listening to Hinata talk, Daichi knew he made the right decision.
