Before I got super distracted by The World, here's some more explorations for my variation on Sophie Yanow's Gentle Comics Habit project!

I got realllllly into my head at 10 min, so did a little reset back to 1 minute and 2 minutes for #s 11 and 12--I think the faster draw time feels nicer for this kind of challenge with the end result being MORE and frequent drawings

So.... we started the year with some REALLLLLY strong ambitions to post daily, but the last few weeks have been physically and emotionally exhausting in a way that I never anticipated -- it leaves me wondering about the sort of art I want to make, and why I want to continue to make art.

My heart truly goes out to the folks affected by the fires in California, to the folks that are feeling grim because of... everything that's happened today.

I think we're in for a rough one, guys -- but I sincerely hope we all pull through okay with a lot of resilience.

;') All that to say, I'm going to keep trying to post art and trying to make art--no matter how rough it gets.

So I was laid low by my cold yesterday so we are doing 2 today to catch up 😤

Six minutes is a generous amount of time, but my focus waS DEFINITELY not in it 🤪 Done before lunch time which is important to note

As gen-AI becomes more normalized (Chappell Roan encouraging it, grifters on the rise, young artists using it), I wanna express how I will never turn to it because it fundamentally bores me to my core. There is no reason for me to want to use gen-AI because I will never want to give up my autonomy in creating art. I never want to become reliant on an inhuman object for expression, least of all if that object is created and controlled by tech companies. I draw not because I want a drawing but because I love the process of drawing. So even in a future where everyone’s accepted it, I’m never gonna sway on this.
