Part 6

TW: flashbacks to abuse

Kia was afraid to go back, thinking Nick would be angry at her. She had a pit in her stomach, and was almost shaking in fear as they slowly walked back to the house.

This fear was familiar to Kia. She thought back to the times she would return home from school to the small flat she lived in with her mum and her mum's boyfriend, Andrew. Her mum was out a lot working, so Andrew tended to be around the flat a lot.

Andrew would get angry at Kia sometimes for no reason, like really angry. She never understood what she did wrong, and it really scared her, she felt she was always walking on eggshells around him. She would shake in fear when she knew she would return home and her mum was working, so it would just be Andy.

It confused Kia, sometimes he would be nice and bring her home chocolate bars and let her watch what she wanted on the TV, and then other times he would just snap. He would yell and call her all sorts of names. She remembered the occasion when he stormed into her room and tore up her sketchbook full of her best drawings, and how she cried herself to sleep that night, clutching the torn up pieces of her pride and joy.

And then there was the time Andy got really angry. Kia's mother had fought with him, screaming abuse at each other for an hour before she stormed out. Kia had snuck into the kitchen to get some food, when Andy stomped in, and started to yell at her. Kia didn't remember much of what he said, being used to tuning out the mean hateful comments he made about her. He realized she wasn't listening to him, and this enraged him, so much that he grabbed her roughly by the wrist, turning her to look at him, and then he hit her hard round the face. He hit her again, whilst yelling insults at the girl. He threw one last punch, hitting the side of the girl's head, making her ear ring. He left after that. Leaving Kia a sobbing mess.

She quickly gathered herself together and snuck back to her bedroom, blocking the door shut with her desk chair. She didn't sleep that night, and didn't go to school for a few weeks while the bruises on her face and arms cleared up. She lost most of her hearing in her right ear after that incident, but never really told anyone. Her mother saw her injuries and got in another fight with Andy, making him apologize to Kia, and that was it. She didn't seem to really care, which broke Kia's heart.

He never hurt Kia that bad again, but he would still say awful things and purposely hurt her sometimes, which made her dread him even more. Much to Kia's relief, Andy and her mother broke up about 4 months later, but the fear stuck around.

Kia was scared Nick would act the same, and scream at her and hit her, she certainly thought she deserved it after running away.

She felt nauseous as they approached the familiar street.

Darcy noticed the girl go slightly pale and slow her pace. She looked down at Kia and saw the look of pure fear on her face, and noticed her trembling hands. She decided not to say anything yet as they approached the house.

Nick was stood in the doorway when he saw Darcy and Kia. He walked up to her and lifted his arms up to pull her into a hug.

Kia saw this and instinctively flinched, Nick and Darcy noticed this and flashed each other a concerned look. He gently wrapped his arms around the girl and bought her into a hug, he rested his chin on her head.

After a second he pulled away and looked down at her, still holding her in his arms.

"Ki, I'm so sorry you had to hear about your mum like that, you should've been the first to know.", he paused, "Why did you run?"

Kia wouldn't meet his eyes as she stayed silent.

Nick sighed sadly and ushered her inside, seeing she was shivering which surprised him since it wasn't cold out. He bought Kia into the living room and sat her down on the sofa, he wrapped a blanket round her to try and ease her shivering. The gang were in the kitchen, allowing Kia to have some space as she calmed down. They were all really worried about her.

Nick tried talking to Kia, but she stayed silent, only uttering an odd 'yes' or 'no' to him. He noticed how Kia made space between herself and him, he respected her wishes but wanted nothing more than to hold her tight and tell her how worried he was about her.

Charlie knocked gently on the door, and bought in a plate with a sandwich and a glass of water.

"Hey Kia, I bought you something to eat if you're hungry.", he knelt beside her, curled up into the side of the sofa, he reached out slowly and tucked some of her hair behind her ear, "We're glad you're home safe."

Kia let out the smallest smile and nodded.

She slowly ate half of the sandwich and drank some water. The pair noticed Kia's tired eyes getting heavier, as she slowly nodded off to sleep.

Nick and Charlie snuck out of the room, leaving the door open a crack and the lamp on. They entered the kitchen and were bombarded by worried questions about Kia.

"She's ok, she's asleep now. All that matters is that she's home. Safe. Thank you guys for helping, I honestly don't know what I would've done without you."

"Of course.", Tara spoke on behalf of the group, "We'll always be here for you when you need us."

Everyone had filtered out of the house, David had disappeared up into his room, and Elle's mum had come and taken the rest of the group home.

Darcy stopped at the door as Nick was saying goodbye and thank you to each of them.

"I think you need to talk to Ki, I'm really worried about her, Nick. You should've seen her face on the way home, she looked terrified and her hands were trembling.", she rambled, "And you saw how she flinched when you went to hug her..."

Nick nodded slowly, and thanked Darcy again for everything as they parted ways.

He peered into the living room, checking that Kia was still sleeping peacefully. He was glad beyond words that she was home safe, but he thought about what Darcy said and decided to bring it up to Kia when she was up the next day.

Part 4- Running

It was getting dark out when Nick and Kia got home. She disappeared up to the guest room almost immediately after muttering a quick "Good night" to Nick.

Nick walked into the kitchen, where David was eating at the table.

He glanced up at Nick and sighed.

"What is the problem now? You've got that stupid worried face on.", David asked.

"I don't know, I'm just concerned about Kia, she seems happy, but she has hardly spoken a full sentence since she's got here.", Nick explained, "I just want her to feel comfortable."

"Well her Mum is dying in hospital, how can you expect her to be happy here without her?"

Nick froze and looked at David.

"Mum didn't tell you did she?", David said, "She called while you were out, Kia's Mum is in bad condition, they don't know how long she has left."

Nick was in shock. He stood there for a second staring at his brother, taking in the news, until he heard a sob come from the doorway.

He turned to see Kia with silent tears falling down her face.

"Kia...", Nick started.

She let out another sob, and turned away from the boys, leaving the room. She quietly opened the front door and began running. She ran and ran, adrenaline keeping her from becoming tired. Tears were streaming down her face as she ran down unfamiliar streets, not knowing where she was going, just anywhere away from that house.

Nick turned back to David and glared at him.

"Great job. Now she's upset again, just when I was making progress."

David began arguing back.

"I didn't know she was there, I didn't realize she was listening!"

"She should've been the first to know, you could have called me, David."

Nick sighed and brushed his hand through his hair. He walked out the room to follow Kia, who he assumed had gone upstairs to the guest room. He saw the front door wide open and froze. He ran out the door onto the street and yelled for her, "Kia! Ki?".

He was beginning to panic. The girl was missing, she had just found out about her mother, and now she's missing.

He ran back into the house and sprinted upstairs to check in the guest room. Nothing. He called David's name.

"David.", he ran into the kitchen, "She's gone. Kia's gone. The door was wide open and she's not upstairs."

David stood from his seat and put his phone down for the first time in the conversation. He went slightly pale and started to panic too.

"You're certain she's not upstairs?!", he asked.

"No, I checked, she's gone!"

Charlie, Tao, Elle, Darcy, Tara and Isaac were all out looking for Kia in less than half an hour. Nick was panicking even more by now, she didn't know the area and it was getting dark. He couldn't think of anything else, just Kia and the fact she was scared and alone in an unfamiliar place. David had stayed at the house, incase the girl returned, and was secretly just as worried for the girl as Nick was.

They had been searching for almost an hour, calling her name and asking around if anyone had seen her. They were on the brink of phoning the police when Nick's phone rang in his pocket.

Darcy jogged into the park near the school, looking around for Kia. She knew the gang were becoming worried sick, especially Nick, and was praying they would find the girl soon.

She looked over at the pathway, lit up by street lights, and spotted a small figure curled up on one of the benches.

Her heart skipped a beat as she sprinted closer. As she approached, she heard quiet cries.

"Kia?", Darcy asked gently.

Kia looked up, her eyes red and puffy.

Darcy let out a breath of relief and pulled out her phone, dialling Nick's number. The phone rang for barely a second before Nick picked up.

"I've found her, she's with me now, I'll bring her home."

Darcy sat down next to Kia, wrapping an arm around her.

"I heard about what happened, Ki.", Darcy said, "I'm so sorry to hear about your mum."

Kia stopped crying and glanced up at Darcy.

"I didn't know what to do. I'm sorry for running."

Darcy smiled down at Kia, "It's ok Ki, we were just worried about you. Nick's been worried sick, and him and the whole gang have been searching high and low for you.", she explained, "We care about you."

Kia shivered slightly, getting cold in just a t-shirt and jeans.

"Come on, let's get you back."

“Hey, y/n”, he chuckled, grabbing a carton of milk and throwing it into the shopping cart.

“So, whatcha buying?” you asked, following him with your basket in hand.

“Uh-groceries?”

He looked at you, a small smile on his face, but still wary.

“Why?”

You shrugged, grabbing a loaf of bread and putting it into the basket.

“Just thought I’d accompany you”.

He nodded, not really thinking much of it.

I WAS THERE WHEN YOU WERENT

Nick slowly crept into Eloise's dark bedroom. He peered over at her sleeping stance and smiled softly. He didn't want to wake her but if he didn't she would be late for school. So he shook her gently. But knowing she was a heavy sleeper he called her name. "Lou? Lou wake up" She groaned and rolled over, nick caught her before she could roll off the bed. He laughed a bit. "Come on, you need to wake up, you'll be late for school" Eloise groaned once again. "Noo, just a few more minutes" Nick laughed again but grabbed her hands and pulled her up but he made sure to support her head because she was still half asleep and her neck was floppy. "Come on, I've got some toast ready for you, but it will be cold if you don't get up now" She was still trying to sleep. Nick decided to try something else. He jumped straight on her and tickled her sides. At this she started squirming and laughing. "No! Nick stop!"She said inbetween laughs. "Pleass! Nick!" She screamed laughing. "Say you'll get up!" He said. "Okay! Okay! I'm getting up!" She claimed. He still tickled her. "Say you love more the most and I'm the best big brother ever!" Eloise faked a look of betrayal. "What!? No way" Nick put on a shocked face, teasing her. "Say it or I wont stop" He threatened in a jokey way. "Okay! Okay! I love you so much, your the best big brother ever!" She shouts still moving underneath his tickling hands. He raises his eyebrows at her and smirks. "Nick no-" He ignored her snd carried on. "Traitor!" She screamed at him. "You need to say you love me the most" He corrected her. "Okay! Okay! I love you the most!" He let go of her and pulled her up só she was no sitting up in her bed. "Thats all I asked for" Nick smirked at her again and leaned on her desk slightly. "Race you downstairs" Lou said as she quickly got out of bed and rushed downstairs eager to be First. "Wha- Ella! Wait!" Nick Shouted as he raced after her.

"Oh before I go to work, I just wanted to let you know that your brother will be staying with us for a while" their mum said while the two siblings finished up their breakfasts. They looked at eachover in shock. Nick half smiled reassuringly at her. "Just- try and behave for me. No tickle fight, or throwing popcorn at eachover. And especially no arguing with David" the siblings smirked at eachover. "I mean it, also we are having dinner together as a family tonight. No pajamas Eloise" Their mum playfully glared at them. Ella made a noise of discomfort and nick laughed teasingly pushing her shoulder. "Oh can we invite Charlie?" Nick asked. Lou giggled exitedly. "Yeah I don't see why not, invite his family, we can make a whole dinner party out of it"

School went by as usual, but Ella couldn't help but feel a little bit worried about arriving home. But she brushed it off as everyone bid their goodbyes, Charlie obviously joining them for dinner tonight, went with the two siblings.

As soon as they opened the front door, they noticed David sat there on the sofa and Ella took a deep breathe and started hanging up her coat and bag. "Well well well, look who we have here, my brother and sister who never talk to me." Nick glared at him. "And who are you? Nicks friend? Nice to meet you I'm david" He held out his hand but Charlie didn't shake it. David laughed almost awkwardly. "Let's go upstairs." Nick said turning away. "Ill make you a cup of tea" he offered to charlie beofore turning to lou. "Hot chocolate?" He smiled and she nodded eageryly. "Not going to ask me if i want one?" David taunted getting closer to the younger siblings. Nick slightly stood infront of Lou and narrowed his eyes a bit before gently tugging her away.

"She's my sister too you know, you can't hog her." Nick turned around. "Hog her? You were never there. I was. I practically raised her because mum was working to pay for bills! Where were you? Hm? You were off doing god knows what. I taught her everything she needs to know" He ushered eloise upstairs with charlie.

The two non blood related siblings sat on nicks bed with Nellie. "Ignore him, from what nick has told me, he's an idiot" Charlie reassured, slightly whispering the insult at the end. Eloise laughed but got cut off by shouting downstairs. Charlie, noticing her discomfort wrapped his arms around her and rested his chin on her head. "Let's put on some TV, hey?" She reluctantly agreed.

PART 2?? Should I continue? I feel like this is just a build up? What do you think xxx

ACCIDENT

HEARTSTOPPER A SISTER SERIS PART 4

It was all very quick for eloise, although she'd never had a crash before she wasn't too traumatised. Similarly, she wasn't too badly hurt physically. A few cuts and she was sure she would get a few Bruises.

She dreaded calling her mum or nick for that matter because she knew they'd both freak out, she even debated calling charlie or elle or someone but she wanted nick. She wanted nick more than anyone right now.

She wiped away a few tears and dialed her mums number knowing her mum wouldn't be as worried as nick. No disrespect to her, her mum would obviously be worried, but the main thing on her mind would be to make sure shes okay and help her feel better. Nick however would constantly be around her and pestering her to check if shes okay. He wouldnt leave her side in weeks. But she has to put up with it someday.

She waited a few minutes but nobody answered. She groaned and rolled her eyes a little. She was probably working. She tried again. Unsuccessful. She tried one more time after that but unsurprisingly, she didn't answer. Nick it is, she thought.

She took a deep breath and dialed her brothers number. "Hello?" His voice called out. Ella took another deep breathe. "Nick? Its me" There was a pause. "Ella? Where are you? You were meant to be here an hour ago." It was obvious he was eith the group because she could here them talking in the background. Eloises heart started beating faster as her anxiety went up. "Don't worry, I'm alright" She said. "Well ofcourse your alright, why wouldn't you be alright?" Nick said a bit confused because he could tell by her shaky voice she wasn't alright. "Because.." Another deep breathe. "I got into an accident" She closed her eyes as she said this. "What!?" Nick Shouted in panic. The group Nick was with stopped talking and looked at him. "What accident? What do you mean you got into an accident?!" Nick stood up and looked at charlie who shared the same worried expression, knowing it was about his honary sister. "Well..David wanted to take me out for ice-cream but there was something in the middle of the road and he swerved into a tree." Nick was filled with rage and fear. "David was driving? David was driving his car and you got in an accident." Nick repated, trying to process what happend. "Are you okay-are you hurt?" At this point the whole group was very worried. "Not really-" Nick scoffed. "Not really- where are you Ella?" Ella took a deep breathe. "I'm at the hospital" Nick felt like he was going to cry. If only he had known David was going to take her out. He wouldn't have let him. He hasn't been here for years and he just shows up and takes her without asking him? He practically raised her. When he sees him he's going to tell him what he needs to hear.

Nick nodded to the door and the group got there stuff and left, Nick following suite. "We'll be right there, hang in there lou"

Eloise sat there on those uncomfortable hospital waiting room chairs. She replayed the crash in her head and winced. She didn't even know why she agreed to go with David. She just wanted nick. She wanted to go home.

The sound of hospital doors bursting open caught Ella's attention again. "Ella? Oh my god are you okay!?" Nick ran over in a frantic state. He grabbed her cheeks gently snd turned her head side to side. "Christ Lou, I-Im sorry I should I have been there" He apologised as he sat next to her and grabbed her hand to hold. "It wasn't your fault nick, don't say that" Eloise said. The others ran in and ran straight towards her. "Oh my god Ella" "What happend" "are you okay" Everyone said at once. "Guys, I'm okay. Just a few bruises" Ella reassured them. "Yeah big ones, I mean look at that one on your head Ellie" Tao said brushing his finger over the purplely coloured oval shape on her head gently. Charlie sat on the other seat next to her. "Where's David now?" Ella looked down. "He left" She mumbled. Nick stood up. "What? Your kidding right. You've been here by yourself? No I'm not having that" Nick started to leave but Charlie grabbed his hand and motioned to the small brunette girl. Nick sighed and took of his jacket and wrapped it around his little sister who was only wearing a thing long sleeved top and it was cold snd dark out. "Are you allowed to leave?" Elle asked. Eloise nodded. "There's some paperwork that need to be filled out though" "I'll do that, you go with the others" She nodded and charlie and Tao helped her up. Nick stood behind in case she fell and once he knew she was in safe hands he went to reception. "Charlie, it's okay you go with nick, she's safe with us" Tara said. "Thankyou T" He nodded and jogged over to nick.

"I can't belive I let this happen" Nick ran his hands through his blonde hair. "It's not your fault nick. You didn't know. It wa an accident, even David wouldn't do this on purpose" Charlie reassured. Nick nodded. "Well David doesn't know whats coming for him" Charlie smiled at him. "Your kinda hot when your mad" Nick narrowed his eyes at him. "Not the time Char"

Eloise was sat on the bathroom counter with elle cleaning her cuts, Tao sat on the toilet seat. "I think you look like a total badass now ellie" He complimented her motionaing to her injuries. "Really?" She perked up. Elle playfully glared at Tao. "Don't tell her that, her ego will become bigger than her head" Eloise rolled her eyes. "Like her brother" Tao said ruffling her hair. "Hey" she whined in retaliation. There was silence. "I'm really glad your okay Lou" Elle said touching her arm. Lou smiled back at her. "Me too" Tao copied. The two older teens quickly pulled their honary sister into their arms. They stayed their for a while.

The front door burst open, startling Charlie and nick who were in eachovers arms in the front room. Tara and darcy ran in from the kitchen. "David?" Nick stood up and walked towards him. "Where were you?" He asked lowly. "Out? Why do you care" He asked in a rude tone started to walk upstairs. Darcy stared him down. "What is thus?" A threatened David asked. "You know she was in the hospital didn't you?" David stuttered. "I-I didn't think it was that bad" "That's your excuse?" Nick almost Shouted at him. "She was badly hurt and traumatised" Nick argued. Charlie stood up and stood slightly behind Nick. David laughed cold heartedly. "She's such an attention seeker, I mean I'm not surprised, she's taking after you-" David couldn't finish his response because Nick punched him clean and sharp in his face. He shook of his knuckle in slight pain but he ignored it. "Don't you ever talk about my sister like that again" David held his jaw on the floor. "What the fuck-" He started. "Do you understand me?" Nick said. David nodded and ran out the house again. Nick sighed. Darcy cheered at him. "That was incredible" Charlie looked at Nick. "I told you, you were hot when your mad" Nick laughed at him. "I'm quite proud of that"

Tao and Elle walked in the front room. "How is she" Nick asked worried. "She's okay" Elle smiled. "She's actually asleep at the moment só we are going to head out" Tao and Elle grabbed their stuff. "Yeah us too" Tara and Darcy agreed. "Thankyou guys, we really appreciate this" Nick gratefully said. "Anyime" They all left together, it was just Nick and Charlie left. "You can stay the night if you want" Nick offered. "Okay" Charlie nodded, agreeing. Someone needed to be their for Nick aswell as Eloise.
