Jonathan Blow: Indie Prototyping
Recommendations
Don't do ideas that are "just good enough".
You want to feel the greatness in your prototype.
Pass on ideas that seem good or just okay.
Keep prototyping until you find something that you can't not make.
Prototype early, during development of something else.
Have plenty of time to let ideas gestate.
Give yourself the option not to follow up on a prototype for a while. Years if need be!

2016-10-24 - Day 124
GDC Talk: Oh My! That Sound Made the Game Feel Better! - Joonas Turner
Things to think when designing a game:
What's the game like and what's the main focus of the player?
Give cues to the player. Ex: In a fps game, instead of having the player look at the UI to know how many bullets are left, make a distinct sound of metal clanking when bullets are ending.
Music/SFX/VO should blend together.
Create something unique. Ex: The game world has a new a different language.
Creation:
Plan on gear/chain. Ex: One filter to VO, one for player actions, one for enemy, one for effects.
Make your sounds shorter.
Make the beginnings shorter, think about about pushing a button.
Impact, Impact, Impact!
Distortion
Sound Systems:
Ducking
Filters
Give priority to what's is important!
