When I first watched Gossip Girl, I was always confused about how people still found Chuck Bass appealing. He did lots of bad things, and when people would defend him for them and say, âBut heâs Chuck Bass,â it would anger me so much becauseâŠwhy? Why say this? Now I understand why.
I have just finished YOU season five on Netflix and for years I would defend Joe and tell myself and others âBut heâs just looking for loveâ or as the Chuck Bass stans say âBut heâs Joe Goldbergâ. The show made me realize that Joe isnât this amazing guy defending their beloved Chuck. I defended Joe because I found him attractive and Iâm sure many Chuck stans felt the same way. Like I get it, Chuck is fine and so is Joe. We donât attack Joe as a killer because of his looks and we donât attack Chuck as a rapist because of his looks. Both characters have good redeeming qualities every so often, they both went through very hard childhoods that affected them as they grew up as people, and when it comes to loving someone they do it but in the end do bad things to them which then leads to toxic love. Both shows influenced us to fall in love with them when in reality they are not the expectations in a relationship or a man. They just need heavy therapy to get better. No one could change or fix them, but only themselves. They both have hard times into believing that they are not good people who have have made a few mistakes here and and there (cause in reality those âmistakesâ are super hard to forgive or move on from) I was tricked into loving Joe so much and now I see the hidden message in it all. We need to stop romanticizing these toxic men because it all may just lead to continuing the cycle of toxic (dare I say abusive) relationships. Thank you to Netflix and CW. đ

When youâre about to get into an argument with a đȘ shipper bc they hated on Dair in YOUR COMMENTS but then you remember the main and real reason why they hate Dan and Blair together so much is bc they canât stand the idea of one of the people in their favorite ship was actually happy with someone else đ
(Also, sometimes romanticizing two people so much leads to not fully understanding them as characters/individuals) But what do I know, Iâm just a girl. đ€·đ»ââïž
âHey, sorry I made your girl happy for a hot minute.â

My Gossip Girl Endgames đ (no explanation needed)
1. Dair (Dan & Blair)
2. Jenate (Nate & Jenny)
3. Rufly (Lily & Rufus)
4. Serena alone but happily finding her true self
5. Chuck in jail or with multiple baby mamas đ
(Probably both tbh)

Why is Blairâs behavior towards Jenny isnât talked about enough? I love her, sheâs top three for my favorite characters on gg, but why was no one holding her accountable for how nasty she treated Jenny? Like yes, Jenny also did some stuff to her, but comparing what they did to each other, Blair takes it all. One thing that will always annoy me is when Blair got more mad at Jenny who was A VICTIM with her being a minor still instead of her grapist boyfriend when they slept together? I donât want to call her stupid for it, but come on đđ She ran my girl Jenny out of town and when she came back she was at her like a predator trying to hunt their prey. And donât start saying Jenny was being dramatic when crying about it because I wouldâve too. She wanted to wait for the right person to lose her v card to and yes she gave consent, but she was vulnerable and wasnât thinking straight. That crying was regret and not trying to victimize herself. Letâs not forget that after Blair slept with Chuck for the first time she felt guilty and regretful because YES she gave consent, but she was sad and vulnerable. In some weird way both storylines match each other so well. (Sadly)

I will live by this forever
Chuck Bass might have ended the series as Blairâs husband but Dan Humphrey will always be her male wife. And we all know Blair needed a male wife more than a husband

Am I wrong or one of the main points in Serenaâs character was to find her real true self? She returns to episode one from boarding school and you can see that sheâs lost and wants to fix herself to be the best version after all the bad stuff she did. So I find it weird to rush her into a relationship with Dan because Iâm assuming if youâre in a relationship it wouldnât go well if youâre not fully sure who you are or want to be. Of course, they didnât end well, and throughout the whole show not once did I see her realize the place she is in or what sheâs doing is her calling and who sheâs meant to do/be. Making her search for love for the whole show and making her make even more HORRIBLE mistakes takes her away from her character development. And the whole love triangle thing with Dan and Nate, again didnât help her character one bit. Like why make her look for love and herself at the same time? Youâre at this point just setting her up for failure. This then comes to my opinion that she shouldâve ended up alone to show growth and to show how she wants to take her time and find what is needed for her without Gossip Girl breathing down her back and following every step of hers. But if you were going to plan for her to end up with someone, at least let her find herself with her real purpose in life moving forward because not only would she be happy with the person sheâs with but also happy because she knows who she is. Which comes to another thing I could rant about forever is how the Gossip Girl writers are so bad and the show too in general. They drop storylines and plot points for characters which sucks and I hope that only happened because they were too busy trying to push in the drama for the show that they completely forgot about the needed character development which doesnât make this any better but yeah. Iâll stop here before this post becomes a whole essay and end this by saying it shouldâve ended with Serena sitting in the front row watching Nate and Jenny getting married instead of Nate watching her get married to Dan.
Agree or disagree, this is just my observation and opinion. đ

So are we all finally mature enough to say Serena saâd Dan in the season five finale? Serena intentionally got Dan drunk and She misled him about his relationship status with Blair to then created a scenario to isolate him. Since he was drunk and clearly manipulated he wasn't able to give a clear consent. Not to mention she filmed them without him knowing. Sexual assault isn't always about physical force. It can also involve taking advantage of someone who is unable to give consent.
I hope at the time everyone didnât know that Sa involved more than just physical force and didnât just ignored it because heâs a man and not a woman.

Hear me out: Jenny and Nate endgame đ
I will admit Jenny in season three was questionable when it came to Nate, but them in season two⊠đđđ sign me up bc they were so cute together and I personally think they had lots of chemistry and potential.
I hate to be the one who crushes some of your Serenate hearts, but at the end of the day Serena never deserved him. She cheated on him and all it seemed like in their relationship was fight and make love. Thatâs personally not my style of a relationship, but if you disagree thatâs completely fine bc I did think they looked good together. Possibly better off as friends, dare I sayâŠ. đ€·đ»ââïž idk but youâre free to disagree and have your own opinion
(P.S the way Jennifer Archibald sounds together is TOP TIER TO ME) đđ

I love Gossip Girl and itâs a good show (sometimes) but for someone whoâs new to the fandom like late of last year, I noticed how toxic the fandom really is đ (mainly chair shippers) itâs cool for everyone to have different opinions but I have never seen a fandom rip other peopleâs opinion piece by piece so violently like the gossip girl fandom has. Lowkey a little scaryâŠ. đđ

I saw an edit of đȘ of that one window scene. I look at the comments and a lot of them are like âDan would neverâ or âYou would not see Dan doing thatâ which is 100% true and Iâm glad there are more Dair shippers out there, but it gets to a point when a đȘshipper comments this: âDan would never do it, but, dan did write a book in which he exposed all his friends, including Blair. He harassed Blair and uploaded everything about her life, depriving her of her right to privacy. Sometimes people forget that Dan was gossip girl.â This is an exact comment under the edit. Let me just say that you are mad at this man for exposing people about their BS. đ acting as if these people of the Upper East Side didnât personally send a tip to GOSSIP GIRL including BLAIR multiple times. They were all asking for it. Making up excuses to hate Dan so Chuck can seem more âsuperiorâ for Blair is probably one of the most annoying things I let myself read. Because those people are so right! Grapist over someone who spreads gossip like everyone else in the world is 10x better. đ (not really)
