its terrible for any number of reasons, but i think if we invent immortality there should be an extreme sport called civilizational speedrunning where teams of 20 go into the wilderness somewhere and try and be the fastest build the first internal combustion engine. i bet you could get it down to like 3 years tops

I just discovered foodtimeline.org, which is exactly what it sounds like: centuries worth of information about FOOD. If you are writing something historical and you want a starting point for figuring out what people should be eating, this might be a good place?

“You mean, like a sudden rainstorm forces them together beneath a canopy
they look into each other’s eyes
and realize they were made for each other.”

Here’s a revamp of a piece I drew about a year ago, now fully rendered and refreshed! It’s a spin-off of Pierre Aguste Cott’s The Storm that I thought fit the ineffables perfectly :)

I was walking through the toy aisle at Target when I found this thing and had a VIOLENT AND IMMEDIATE FLASHBACK to when JP first came out and they had a bunch of REALLY COOL T Rex toys that I would have sold one of my scrawny small-child limbs for but my mother wouldn’t get me one because they were “too violent and also ate people” :(

I've got to say, the fact that people here are more upset about getting a 90 minute finale episode than Neil Gaiman being a serial rapist is baffling to me.
Also, please, PLEASE stop pretending to be concerned about the "other people who worked hard for this show" or this being "Terry's dream."
It's about you getting to see your ship getting to make out sloppy style on screen, real victims and real people can get fucked for all you care.
You want to see Michael Sheen and David Tennant exploring each other in various ways on screen, so some of you can go further on your delulu land of "Omg they're meant to be together if only these witches hadn't baby trapped my poor babies 🥺" and the rest of you get to ride the high of fandom shipping for one last time.
Don't pretend that you care about ANYTHING ELSE. Because ya'll are more vocal and outraged about not getting a full season than you were about someone preying on vulnerable women and making their lives a living hell.
Fucking christ.
Edit: Any asshole still coming with this remarkable argument of "So innocent until proven guilty is not a thing anymore right?" please don't bother interacting with this post. You disgust me.

It’s not Amazon’s fault. It’s not the fandom’s fault and it’s not even the haters who asked for the cancellation’s fault.
It’s Neil Gaiman’s fault. End of discussion. He caused this, because he just couldn’t act like a normal human being and not assault women. He’s done this. And he’s too much of a coward to take the blame and to actually own up to his mess.
I’m so glad he’s out. And i’m glad we still have SOMETHING to look forward to. It’s doable in 90 minutes, guys, and the only reason we have that is because we fought for it. It’s no longer Neil Gaiman’s show. It’s ours.

Interviewer (about GO2): Through all of this, I feel like there are more mini-sodes, where we go back and really explore your friendship. What was it like filming those and learning more about your charcters?
Michael: They're the most fun bits to do probably, to dress up and to see what David's going to look like when he walks out of his trailer.
David: I like to keep you surprised.
Michael: Yes.

I think there's an assumption that the demand for a GO season was still there. Amazon is about the bucks. Before we were feral and loud. After the fandom was half it's size. It turned on each other. Fans were canceling Prime and disposing of his books. Simply put, the audience and potential revenue almost disappeared. What was left was ambivalent about actually viewing it 18 months later.
I remember reading something not long after the release of S2 when the idea of a GO fund me was circulated to pay for a S3. Production costs for a season of GO were estimated to be over $100M. GO was not very profitable for Amazon at our most feral. There's not a business model that suggests it's smart to sink that kind of money into a 6 episode series that has a significantly smaller fan following even if NG is removed from the project. Do you remember how we had to constantly stream and send messages to get the renewal before this all went down.
Everyone has the right to feel how they do about the situation. But actions have consequences, and canceling the project made the most financial and popular sense for Amazon. The controversy goes away. To paint Amazon as being "icky" as if they supported what NG did by canceling isn't very factual. I don't think that we're better served by seeing shadows where they aren't. The world is unfriendly enough.
They're just MONEY GRUBBING WHORES. Denigrate them. Call them out for what they are.
I haven’t put my finger on what exactly it is yet, but something about Amazon initially wanting to cancel GO instead of firing NG and continuing with it, and the subsequent decision to only make a shortened version, gives me the ick, in a way that the cancellation of his other shows doesn’t.
Something about the fact that he offered to withdraw (though admittedly, we don’t know exactly what that meant) and they were still going to drop it.
The message that sends feels… weird. It feels wrong.
I’d welcome hearing people’s thoughts.

I think it's important to know that Rhianna Pratchett reposted this. I totally understand being disappointed, but there were people behind the scenes fighting for those 90 minutes instead of nothing. And I trust in the team that will be in charge of those 90 minutes.
We will be okay <3
