“in a school for spies, i’d be surprised if no one was looking for anyone’s secrets. i thought the main gist of what we’re doing here is to be nosy?” or so honey would say, if only to justify herself being nosy. “honestly, i feel like i’m an open book to at least our headmistress, so i’ve stopped thinking about that a long time ago.”
“i guess that’s good,” he replies, looking to his hands, “i don’t know if i have anything to hide, but i’m sure my father does... not that it’s important here, though.”

“ MIND IF I SIT HERE ? ” bash has found that if he has to be in public right now, it’s the safest option to be with strangers. unlike some of his other classmates, bash hasn’t KILLED anyone, so this guy won’t care if he’s been blackmailed or lying about his name. he doubt he’ll even recognize him, because bash doesn’t know who he is. @dallasyoung
“yeah, don’t worry.” dallas replies easily, moving for the guy, “there’s enough room for two.”

“So… I guess, um, I’m not impressed about the hack anymore. I’m disappointed the school didn’t protect all of this information,” Eden frowned. Oddly, some of it was so personal. The school didn’t have a data base with who hooked up with who, did it? “How are you holding up?”
closed @dallasyoung
“yeah, i guess it isn’t so cool anymore,” dallas responds, not sure if he ever thought it was cool. it always felt pretty terrifying. “i’m... okay... i don’t know, eden, everything’s a mess”

aileenmacnee:
Aileen startled a bit as the sound of the sack fell to the floor and pulled her out of the dissociative state that she usually found herself in while reading. She could picture herself right there in the pages, which was a blessing and a curse. A curse now, because her heart raced and there was an attractive face in front of her asking about what she was ready. “Oh, uh,” she said, glancing at the cover and looking back at him. “Aliens came to earth and take over our bodies, but usually we, the humans, are no longer conscious when they do it. We’re dead. But one of the aliens chooses this girl who remains conscience and they’re sharing a soul.” She was rambling, and she caught herself then. “It’s by the author who wrote Twilight.”
In that particular moment, he wished he had the attention span to read. Between classes and training, it was pushing the limits of his ADHD, so he was actually glad to hear someone talk about a book for once. He could escape simply hearing her talk about it. “Is it bad that I never read twilight?” He questions, “or anything, really... words tend to mix together on pages and it’s kind of embarrassing to pretend I can focus on a book... audio books seemed okay.”

At any given time, Dallas’ mind was going 100 miles a minute. Between classes that he wasn’t understanding and grueling physical training, he couldn’t remember the last time he actually had fun, or just even relaxed for even a second. Maybe it was why he was trying to entertain himself with a hackeysack as he moved down the hall. It wasn’t the most graceful, or easiest thing to do, but he had to put his brain elsewhere.
Unsurprisingly, it fell, and as he picked it up, he noticed the title of a book someone was reading. He also couldn’t remember the last time he tried to read without ultimately becoming frustrated, a fact that he was definitely more ashamed of back home. “That’s a thick book. What’s it about?”

“How did you get into Gallagher again? Was it by way of something not-so-great? That could be something that could get out there,” Eden mused. There were so many students. If they leaked all the secrets, was anyone really going to sit down and read all of them?
“I guess?” He admits, not sure if he should say anything about who his father is, though he knows he can trust Eden, “I think the headmaster knows my dad... but I was scouted for my skill... which is intimidating on it’s own. Are you going to be okay?”

“i mean… if they hacked the school system, then who knows what the fuck they could get their hands on. our files, our information – anything.”
“You’re making this sound very terrifying.” He admits. He doesn’t have much to be afraid of, but he does understand the gravity of the entire situation. “I hope everyone that has something to hide will be okay...”

“it’s not scary if you got nothing to hide.”
“...I don’t think I do?” he asks seemingly no one, before turning back to Lex, “are you implying you do?”

“ ARE YOU NOT SURE ? ” she asks, with a short laugh. it’s funny to her that he doesn’t seem to grasp the severity, but it sure beats hearing people bitch and moan. “ it’s impressive, really, that somebody could break through. it’s just scary not knowing who it is. ”
“...No, not entirely.” He admits, glad to get his naive nature off his chest. “It’s probably super impressive, I’m just not sure how that even happens... it pretty much means someone is smarter than the person programming the whole system... which sounds even worse, when you word it that way.”

“this is exactly why i’ll never trust the fucking internet. people just think they have more power than they actually have.” it’s why she was off the radar. other than having to use it for school, rose did her best to avoid social media at all costs precisely for the fact that she didn’t trust it or the people who used it.
“I was barely allowed on the internet as a kid.” Dallas admits a little too quickly, “I mean, not sure what I would’ve found back then but... I had to entertain myself other ways, so I don’t even know how someone gets into a server, or whatever happened...”

“You’d think an elite school would have better security.” She rolls her eyes. She personally has nothing in her files, so she’s not worried. But the whole situation is stupid and it just looks bad for her aunt and the school. She’s not shocked anymore at the shit that goes on around here.
“Is this common?” He asks genuinely. He hasn’t been at Gallagher long enough to gauge if he should be shocked for indifferent, “I mean... is the security this weak all the time?”

“that depends,” elvira pauses for dramatic effect, “on whether we’re talking about computers or restaurants.” they smile, disarming and bright, but just as quickly as it appears, it fades — falls to a grim and serious line. “and if we’re talking about what happened right under our noses… you’re right. it’s scary.”
Grinning at the girl, he thinks he can take this a little less seriously... sure, it was serious, but his every thought didn’t need to be plagued with the bad things that happened at Gallagher. “I think we should definitely talk about restaurants instead. Less scary, more delicious.”

“Yeah it’s crazy,” Mandy had to agree. Her brother had told her about some of the chaos that happened at this school but this was her first time experiencing it for herself. “Whoever did it was probably just bored and messing around.”
“It’s the weirdest way to mess around, though...” He replies, wondering if people are really starting to hack into things for fun. “Well... at least for me, it would be...”

“What do you mean?” He asks Suze easily, knowing he’s more comfortable around her simply because they were roommates, “I think I preserve just fine, I just don’t think I’m grasping it all... it’s not exactly my major.”

“Servers aren’t scary, Dallas!” Eden giggled, “Every place with computers has servers. It’s like their memories…. It is a little scary that someone got through the security. I think the school will protect us. Don’t worry too much, okay?”
There was something comforting about the way Eden explained servers, which was just as weird as Dallas expected it was. “I don’t think I’m worried? I don’t know what people would want to know about me, anyway.”

without breaking the endless scrolling of her instagram explore page, honey piped up. “those little things where files are stored. people’s secrets, funny nicknames..maybe a nude or two if the school’s feeling adventurous, who knows?” she laughed slightly before she peered up at dallas. “i mean, are you scared of secrets coming out or something?”
“Not really?” Dallas answers honestly, “but don’t you think it’s weird that there’s someone looking for secrets? You don’t know who or what they’re looking for, or what they took...”
