He couldn't remember the last time he had an awkward dinner like that one, where people poked at their food and kept their eyes on the pieces of green beans they've rearranged, from one side of the plate to the other. For a few minutes, all he could hear was the clinking of utensils against porcelain dishes (the Lazkanos and their porcelain.)

Matteo cleared his throat, when he decided it was on him, to make this comfortable for her. "It's a family recipe." she had not lifted her head from the plate ever since she sat down, so he only assumed, there was something there to be said about it. The food, he meant. Not the fact that she still hated his overbearing guts. Then he put his own fork down, and glanced at his watch. A meek kind of smile softening his face. "Liam said he's running late." which usually meant he wasn't coming, but he wanted to spare her that detail, not to upset her that at the end, it would be just them.

His gaze followed the way another pea made it past the small tunnel between two potatoes and a large piece of beef. Lifting his eyes to meet her, Matteo sighed—"There was something you needed to talk to me about?"

"It's not that I expect the worst of him, but rather that this is the furthest apart we've ever been... and that sort of rift can be costly among our people. It worries me in more ways than one."

Skylar sighed. His heart aching for the nephilim. And he didn’t even know his name. His pain though was a palpable thing. Skylar didn’t expect he did know about how he was feeling. Because it wasn’t Skylar’s right to know.

“Perhaps…” he conceded. “But I do caution you to not expect the worst of your friend. There is likely a reason though I suppose it will depend on your ability to accept it.”

skylar had been on the avengers for only a few months when loki attacked new york city. while most seemed to be afraid of him... she wasn't. there was something alluring about this dangerous god of mischief. she found herself wanting to get closer to him... the redheaded was drawn to him like a moth drawn to a flame. it was well known to all of the avengers skylar kept to herself. hell, she didn't even live with them. she had a hard time opening up to people, especially once those found out she was the infinity witch, they treated her as if she was a villain.. a monster... maybe that was why she was so attracted to loki. the avengers had locked loki up and it didn't take long for skylar to finally seek him out. she decided to bring some things for him, knowing the prison he was in never really cared for their captives and usually treated them poorly. so, sky brought some books, blankets, food, and water for him. skylar had overheard thor talking about loki one day and she learned he liked mythology books. being someone who loved mythology herself, she had tons of the books, most of them being first editions. so, she brought all of them. walking down the set of stairs, her gaze finally fell upon loki who was in his cell, the walls being power dampening to keep him locked in. she felt a little nervous and shy. biting her lower lip, she walked to the edge of his cell, her heart racing when she met his gaze, unsure if it was fear or desire making her heart race... maybe both. "hello, loki," skylar said with a soft smirk on her lips. "i brought you some things you might like."

Finn almost jumped out of her sformer, not that it would actually happen but still, goodness. "Oh, hey Skylar. I think I remember meeting you over the communication channel." Finn smiled up at him, patting the space next to her before reaching into the bag and procuring another piece of fruit. "Strawberry? Or are you allergic?"

It had been a little while now since the Prosperity had last stopped by the KBW, so Skylar was in a pretty good mood about having a chance to drop in again. He didn't have much of an opinion on the wedding either way, but the party - the party was going to be sick. It wasn't quite time to need to bust a move to get over to that though, so here he was, in the landing bay. Not alone, apparently - Finn was already here. And talking to herself, unless she had an invisible friend. "Hi Aces, I'm Skylar," he retorted, mainly as a means of making his presence known before she started saying something to herself that she might not want someone to overhear.

noticing a pattern in my writing/OCs of 'monster that preys on people pretending to be human/human-adjacent'. i mean it's not the first time i've noticed but i've been thinking about three of them recently so like. a pattern.

Did she think him too old for a fun sounding coffee? He would almost allow for his features to twist in slight offense, yet Matteo was quickly reminded that it never was about the orange iced latte — her annoyance had less to do with his choice in baverage, and more with him as a whole. Strolling in, ordering coffee like he was simply a customer, and she was a regular barista. Both human — both normal. It didn't matter what left his mouth, it would always be greeted with the same kind of hatred she felt for his species — for him.

He wondered, if she held that same kind of loathing for herself now, too. And that thought occupied his mind for a moment longer, perventing him from resp onding as quickly, as he wished he had. "Yes — Why? Is it too difficult to make?"

Matteo pulled out his wallet, bills lined up neatly inside. The money for the coffee he left on the counter, and the thought of leaving an extra twenty crossed his mind, as he eyed the tip jar, but she'd probably hate that even more. So he put his wallet back, "Thank you." a kind smile to his lips, "Do you mind joining me outside for a couple of minutes?" a beat, "If there's someone that can cover for you in here, of course."

Nothing. She imagines that's kind of the worst part. There's nothing fucking wrong with this place and as such, she doesn't even have a valid excuse to simply ask him to leave and never come back. Good business or whatever, maybe she should be the one quitting and not have to deal with his pity any longer.

"An orange iced latte." She says flatly, annoyed. "Really?." Like the idea of him drinking such thing was almost unimaginable. She wonders if he feels guilty, responsible somehow. So what if they were from the same pack, not like he sent those wolves after her.

And after all, she used to kill their peers, guess she got what she deserved. Karma's a bitch or whatever.

"Sure, that'll be 5$." And maybe after she gets him his ridiculous order, he'll leave and get out of her hair instead of looking at her with those fatherly eyes that are nothing like her father's.

He'd never promised not to check up with her. Every look of anger she'd offered, Matteo had returned with something kind — understanding. Everytime she'd approached him with distrust, he'd tried his hardest to prove his concern was genuine, that the helping hand he was offering would not reach for a knife in the moments to come. Of course, he couldn't give any promises, knowing how unpredictable his curse left him, knowing what he had done to August, to Liam that night at the ball. He'd scared them both. And no harm could ever come to Skylar. Never. He would never be able to forgive himself. So perhaps, she was right to hate him, hate them — but he couldn't leave her all on her own.

So he approached the younger wolf, with caution and a kind smile. "You look like you need this." a hot cup of coffee extended in her direction. A peace offering, of sorts. His daughter came up behind him, and stood up on her tip toes in order to place a bag of sweets on the table. Her sweet voice carried out the words with pride. "I made those."

She loved to bake, his little girl. And he helped, whenever the migraines weren't as bad.

So this is for a goofy ass AU I've had in the works for a couple years and just have never talked about. It's called DeltaFalls, and it's exactly what is sounds like. A Deltarune and Gravity Falls crossover, where the Deltarune characters are put into a similar situation as the original show, with a big change: Dark Worlds have been incorporated. And maybe a hint of self-awareness. It is Deltarune, after all.

Characters shown (Top to bottom):

Kris Dreemurr-Holiday: A reclusive scientist who's researching the phenomenon known as "Dark Worlds". Accidentally contacted an all-knowing demon and now they're business partners. (Kris Dreemurr/Stanford Pines, specifically pre-multiverse)

Mars Jevill: A brilliant engineer and Kris' assistant. Got roped into Kris' shenanigans and ended up working with that all-knowing demon as well. (Jevil/Fiddleford McGucket, specifically pre-witnessing the multiverse)

Skylar Addison: A travelling "psychic" who also just so happens to actually be a psychic. Made a deal with the demon in order to steal the Holiday family's house and tour attraction, the Mystery Shack. (Blue Addison/Gideon Gleeful)

Goose Holiday: A curious and arrogant kid spending the summer with his great aunt. Started uncovering the town's secrets, and by extension, his own family's. Made a deal with the demon after finding an old computer in order to unlock it, but got juked big time. (Berdly/Dipper Pines)

Finally, front and center, Spamton C. Neo: A demon who takes "all-knowing" quite too literally. Made deals with all the folk listed above in order to manipulate them into helping his own goals. Despite that, he's incredibly honest- After all, Heaven is watching, and he can't fly without Their help. He's also completely self-aware, as in canon, and does nothing but fuck around with that knowledge. [Spamton/Billy C]
