School starts in a few weeks and I want to do some easy "glow ups" or like simple stuff I can do to make myself look/feel better before then. Any suggestions?
Girrrll I gotcha! With these tips, if you follow them, I can almost promise, you’ll not only look and feel like you are a fucking goddess, but you will make everyone around you feel like you got your whole life together.
Organize your whole everything for school. Have the first day of school outfit ready, your bags ready, brief yourself on what you will be learning.
Coconut oil your hair a ton and then stop doing it 4 days before school. There’s a post right here on hair tips. But not only will this make your hair grow, it will glow.
Moisturize yourself every night and morning. I just use coconut oil but you can use whatever you want. Put 3 dots on the spot you wanna moisturize and rub until your hands feel funny. Make sure you don’t add too much, though.
2 days before school you could (skin care routine in no specific order):Do a peel off mask for everywhere but your nose. Then do a blackhead remover on just your nose . Pimple bandages on places you think acne is coming in. Moisturize (If you rub, rub upwards and then pat.). Toner (Pat pat pat)
To have glowy skin on the first day:Legit before you go to bed, the day before, put on a like face mask. THen when you wake up go ahead and wash up and stuff. Don’t forget your toner and remember to DAB it on. Also the night before, put pimple bandages on.
Whiten your teeth
Start taking your daily vitamins boo
Fix your sleep schedule. Go to bed at like 10 and wake up an hour before school.
Put a smart look together for school, this includes makeup if you wear it (if not it’s okay you’re just as beautiful && glowing) what I mean by this is like, what kind of look are you going for? Baddie? Classy and sweet? Hella casual? Piece one together based off of this. If you want to look more mature, you need to piece something together that screams “I have my shit together and I’m not playing this year, I have goals to achieve.”
Start using a planner correctly
Eat breakfast when possible. Avoid anything that will upset your stomach and go for small and simple. If you can’t do this, take a vitamin to boost your day.
Bring water to school. It seriously pays off to have some water with you.
What are your goals in school this year? write them down and read them every day.
HAVE YOUR MAKEUP LOOK READY. No joke if you dnt knw what kind of makeup you’re gonna do on the day of school you’re gonna be stressed af
Bonus: Glowing while in school (intellectually and more)
Let’s talk outfits
A messy bun, light mascara, skinny jeans, shoes, and an oversized sweater goes a long fuckin way.
But so does sweatpants?
And also, you’re going to want to AVOID procrastinating those assignments at all costs.
Yes, I went there. When you get an assignment, especially homework or something that’s “due __ days from now” you want to do it as soon as possible.
So an example would be to do homework when you can like, say you arrive to a class but the teacher isn’t there or the kids are talking and class aint started: Get the homework from your other class out, work on it. OR you can go ahead and start briefing yourself on what you’re gonna have to do.
USE THOSE THINGS RIGHT. You know that annoying ass syllabus and textbook you get that you’re 90% sure you won’t ever use? Stop everything you’re doing and read the syllabus. It should have something like all the topics youll go over. Example “introduction to biology” or something. So, if you want to get ahead of your class, when you go home, google the first one. Have a notebook or a google doc open and jot down notes. Watch youtube videos on it..etc. This is especially true for subjects you’re scared about failing in. If you do this and continue to do this throughout the school year it will pay off. You can use your textbook with this too.
Ask your teacher stuff. God I know everyone says this but I mean it in a different way. If you want to do the above in a more advanced way, ask them about 3 weeks into school “what’s ahead of you”
Stay away from drama at all costs. If some girl comes to you talking shit, act like you’re listening but pay it no mind.
Don’t be afraid to go in pajamas. Giirrrlll I went to work today in my damn pajamas. Deadass in fluffy ass pajama pants and flip flops okay. Don’t be afraid.
Which reminds me that I may be making a back 2 school outfit post on what to wear for certain looks.
and other stuff to glow up in school?? who knows
Hope it helped darling!! byyee~ mwah!

stop treating people you admire and love like gods. when you put romanticized versions of the people you love above the people they really are, then you’ve done yourself and them a disservice. they cannot possibly ever live up to the ideal you’ve created of them, and they will inevitably disappoint you. you will be let down by someone you previously thought was perfect, or worthy of admiration, but perfection has never and will never exist, and if you look for it in a place it isn’t, you will always be let down, and it isn’t fair to you but it isn’t fair to the person you’ve romanticized in the first place. you must realize and tear down the veil of impossible standards (whether physical or more psychological) because they were never possible to attain in the first place.

“Obviously ‘bihet’ offends a lot of bisexuals, so we need to come up with a better term for bisexuals in m/f relationships.”
How about… and hear me out… this may sound crazy…. but you… continue to call us bisexual… because (and I realize this gets confusing for you people so read this next part slowly) it turns out we continue to be bisexual regardless of who we’re dating.

Passwords
So I have to change my password about every 3 months at work, and I need something that is easy to remember and can have numbers and symbols added to it to keep the security happy.
I discovered that using a phrase helps And that if it’s something I want, it helps more.
I’m about to change it again, so I’ll explain using a cycle old password.
At the moment I’m using the base phrase I love my self, I shorten it slightly, maybe turn love into luv or my self into myslf, I change es to 3s or Is to 1s, that sort of things.
Something I’ve noticed is I repeat the phrase in my head when I put my password in, which happens a few times a night. So I’m constantly telling myself “I love myself” like a mantra, without it feeling forced or like a mantra, which I’ve tried many times.
My smashes of self and sense of self worth and worthiness has slowly been going up as I’ve done this, without me noticing.
I don’t know if it could help others, but it could so… try it? You can use any phrase, such as “I am a real man” or “I am a real woman” for trans people, or maybe something like “my trauma does not define me” or “I am open to change ” or any number of such things…
Just, some tips for depressed and anxious and other such affected people like myself.

Depression Hygiene Tips
if you’re too tired to shower:
Wipe yourself down with baby wipes, wash your face
brush your teeth
if you can’t brush your teeth, use mint gum
reapply deodorant
use dry shampoo!! if your hair is long, put it into a bun or pony tail, it will look less greasy or tangled
body spray is an option, but don’t over compensate and go over board
can’t do laundry? febreeze that shit
buy lots of underwear so you can still change that even when you’ve run out of outer clothes
room musty? open the window for an hour or two if it isn’t too cold
if your laundry is too much to do all at once and the process of having to do multiple loads is too much, choose some basic staples from the dirty pile and do a small load.
leave the rest dirty. it doesn’t ALL have to be done.

Depression life tip: if you can afford to, buy some skincare supplies that don’t require water to use. Think lotions, sheet masks, toners, etc. and keep them buy your bed
They’ll help you be and feel cleaner plus give you a sense of accomplishment & control, on days you can’t get out of bed or do much more to take care of yourself. Plus its bonus points if you find a product with a sensation you like.
It’s also an easy way to make a small routine or bedtime ritual which can be helpful for a lot of people- but hard to transition into when you’re in the depression hellscape. If you don’t have to get out of bed or even necessarily sit up to do it- it’s way more likely you’ll do it and it may (at least it has for me) help you transition into more full & healthy routines

Self Care
It’s Mental Health Month. May 1st. The beginning of it. I just want to post some tips on what I find useful when I feel anxious, depressed or lonely. Some tips on how to care for yourself mixed in here too. I know what it’s like to feel like nothing is going to work out and you feel like there is no point anymore. I still get sad from time to time but here is what I try to do to lower those horrible feelings.
Music When I feel down I put on my chill playlist and listen to the songs. Not just recognize that the song is playing. I listen to every word, every beat, every instrument that makes a sound. I listen so hard that I forget everything else around me and forget everything that is going on in my head for a while. This actually really helps and especially if it’s a slow song, something that matches my mood.
Reading Reading is one of my favourite things to do. I’m in love with words. And getting deep into one of my favourite books helps me forget for a while. Grab something to drink and maybe a snack, find a quiet and comfy place to relax and let yourself fall into a book.
Eat When I feel depressed my appetite can go away pretty quickly. But if you don’t eat, you’ll feel even more tired and low. And that’s not good. So eat. Not junk food. Maybe a treat every now and again but make sure to eat healthy too. Fruit or vegetables. Maybe make some type of sandwhich or maybe eat a bowl of porridge. Whatever you want to make. But remember, not always junk food. And drink lot’s and lot’s of water.
Shower or bath If you feel all ugh, and ew take a long warm shower or a bath full of bubbles. Taking a shower or bath might help you feel more relaxed and feel more taken care of. And keeping yourself fresh and clean will help help boost your system.
Fresh air When I’m down, I get lazy. So the whole ‘take a long walk’ thing doesn’t go with me. What I like to do instead is open a window and stand there or take a chair and sit near there. I’m getting fresh air into my lungs which is good and I don’t need to get up and go outside to do it. Now getting exercise is a good thing to do too because it’ll boost your system also. But when you really can’t get up and walk far, just go to a window and read or listen to music.
Cry Yes crying is on this list. When you really need to let those tears out, just do it. If you’re in a place you feel comfortable enough to do it. Let it all out, for however long you need to. Crying doesn’t make you weak or a loser or whatever you think it makes you. It helps you. Instead of holding all those feelings in, you can let them out by crying. So just do it because a cry every now and again, will make you feel a little better. Hopefully.
Decorate and change it up This may be an odd one but it helps me. When I’m sad I’ll look up some quotes that I really like, write them on some paper and decorate the paper and stick it on my wall. Or sometimes I sift things around. If I think something in my room would look better in a different position then I’ll move it. I’ll maybe take some things down and hang something new up instead. Tidy my room too if it needs it. This helps because I’m focusing on other things. Where will this go? Does this look good on this wall? Things like that. Try it and see.
Breathe When I feel like I can’t breathe, I remember that I just need to take a minute. Look at my surroundings. What’s the colour of the walls? Breathe. What’s in the room? Breathe. What’s the weather like outside? Breathe. What’s my favourite food? Breathe. Do I have any plans this week? Breathe. Ask yourself some questions. Answer them and breathe. Breathe, breathe and breathe. Don’t let you make yourself small. Think bigger than what that stupid annoying voice in your head is telling you. Breathe. Because you’re worth it.
I hope these tips helped. I really do. And please, please REMEMBER… you are beautiful. You are so amazing and this world needs you in it. Maybe you feel like no one cares. But I guarantee you there is somebody out there who thinks the world of you. You are somebody’s moon. You’re that person who lights up the darkness for them. Don’t let your light go out. Stay strong and remember to love yourself and take care of yourself. You guys are more than welcome to ask me something if you need any advice or have any questions. The door is open and you are welcome.

Recovery tip #1
Change your sleeping habits. I can not stress this enough. ~if you have any type of sleeping disorder, this is obviously not directed towards you. (I don’t really have any advice there, other than working with your psychiatrist if you have one).~ sleep at 11 and wake up at 7. You need to get at least 8 hours. If you really want to change your life style, stop sleeping late, or not sleeping at all. Stop fucking yourself over with sleep. Be good to yourself. your body needs it, give it to it. Once you have a normal sleep schedule, you’ll have energy to live out the rest of the day and get shit done.

when mental illness affects your studies
all of us mentally ill students finally reach a point where we think it’s so, so hard that we are unable to keep going, keep studying, keep living like this. I have reached that point again recently, but this time reached out for help, and am now trying to learn how to function at school now that I’ve come to terms with my illness. so, I thought I could share some advice based on my own experience.
to you who are now struggling, please don’t give up. do just that. you can overcome this and that is a fact.
-
for the love of God, tell your teachers.
sadly, deadlines don’t really care if you’re currently at your lowest point or just happen to be ‘in shape’ for completing assignments – you have to hand them in on This Day, period. But sometimes you feel so bad that you are either completely unable to finish that one essay or end up forcing yourself to write it and do it while gritting your teeth and crying like I did with my History essay earlier this year. when receiving feedback from my teacher (negative, of course, because the essay was utter shite), I wanted to answer her question why it was SO bad with ‘I am just very, very sick’ and ‘Please don’t think I’m not ambitious or hardworking anymore, I was doing my very best to deliver this and I’m sorry it’s bad’… but I didn’t. I was too afraid that she would think I was lying and too lazy to write a good essay, and that she wouldn’t understand. A few months later, my headteacher and I had a conversation during which she asked me if she should tell my teachers about what I’m going through, and never before in my life have I felt as relieved as in that moment when I was saying ‘Yes, please’.
not having to worry about what your teachers are going to think about the actions caused by your illness can be life-saving. If you think they won’t understand your struggle, you’re probably wrong – you are not the first and only student suffering from depression, anxiety or other mental illness; they have met many like you in the past and know exactly how to act to take some weight off your shoulders, and trust me, they will do everything they can to make it easier for you.
change is good (really)
if you think there is no way out of your situation, stop for a minute, talk to someone, and change whatever you can, even if there’s only a tiny, tiny chance it will make you feel better and take some weight off your shoulders.
i thought I was stuck with Computer Science on Higher Level – although I try my hardest to understand what it’s about, I get grades below average and am really disappointed in myself. It became one of my biggest struggles, and I’m not even planning to become a programmist… It has been making my depression worse for a whole year, but I didn’t do anything to change it, just kept wishing I had picked Biology last year. I mentioned it during a conversation with a trusted teacher and she thought of a solution, asking me if I wanted to change my Language A level to Higher and then take up Biology on SL. And I was like ?? Life-changing?? Of course, I will have to study hard during the summer holidays to catch up with a year worth of material, but I’m more than willing to do that if it means not having to hear about Computer Science ever again. and once again, so much weight off my shoulders. Why I haven’t even thought of making that change before is a topic for another discussion, but my point here is, go make that change if you can. If there is another door, open it. Although it’s scary, it’s definitely worth it.
don’t suit your goals, make your goals suit you
one thing really hard to accept is that an accomplishment for you, a mentally ill student, might be different than an accomplishment for a healthy student. For you, passing this class alone may be a goal, not necessarily with the highest marks, while others strive for straight A’s. You have to understand that, in order not to add more to your worries, you need to have a realistic approach. For me, it was the hardest part, because I’m usually really ambitious and have a tendency to set the bar too high or compare myself to others. But what I needed to realise was that others are not ill, and I am, and if an achievement for me is something that they do effortlessly, there is nothing to be ashamed of. I am the sick me and they are the healthy them, and that is fine.
find a good therapist
therapy, carried out well, can save your life, and I’m sure you already know that (because everyone keeps repeating that, literally everywhere, and it’s becoming highly annoying). I hadn’t realised that, though, until I experienced it myself. I have been suffering for almost two years before I finally scared myself so much that I needed to find a therapist as soon as possible, as I realised I was slowly becoming dangerous to myself and therefore people close to me. I was lucky enough to find a good specialist right away, who quickly diagnosed me, sent to a psychiatrist that prescribed me medicine, and continued therapy with me. But before I found this one, I had been to three others who did not understand me at all. I stopped searching, which was a mistake – please learn from my experience and don’t do that! If you can feel that the therapist you found isn’t right for you, look for someone else. Just don’t give up, because therapy really is important. You need to know that you can get out of this, and you need someone who will guide you and help you overcome whatever you’re going through.

shower. not a bath, a shower. use water as hot or cold as u like. u dont even need to wash. just get in under the water and let it run over you for a while. sit on the floor if you gotta.
moisturize everything. use whatever lotion u like. unscented? dollar store lotion? fancy ass 48 hour lotion that makes u smell like a field of wildflowers? use whatever you want, and use it all over.
put on clean, comfortable clothes.
put on ur favorite underwear. cute black lacy panties? those ridiculous boxers u bought last christmas with candy cane hearts on the butt? put em on.
drink cold water. use ice. if u want, add some mint or lemon for an extra boost.
clean something. doesn’t have to be anything big. organize one drawer of ur desk. wash five dirty dishes. do a load of laundry. scrub the bathroom sink.
blast music. listen to something upbeat and dancey and loud, something that’s got lots of energy. sing to it, dance to it, even if you suck at both.
make food. don’t just grab a granola bar to munch. take the time and make food. even if it’s ramen. add something special to it, like a hard boiled egg or some veggies. prepare food, it tastes way better, and you’ll feel like you accomplished something.
make something. write a short story or a poem, draw a picture, color a picture, fold origami, crochet or knit, sculpt something out of clay, anything artistic. even if you don’t think you’re good at it.
go outside. take a walk. sit in the grass. look at the clouds. smell flowers. put your hands in the dirt and feel the soil against your skin.
call someone. call a loved one, a friend, a family member, call a chat service if you have no one else to call. talk to a stranger on the street. have a conversation and listen to someone’s voice. if you can’t, text or email or whatever, just have some social interaction with another person. even if you don’t say much, listen to them.
cuddle your pets if you have them/can cuddle them. take pictures of them. talk to them. tell them how u feel, about your favorite movie, a new game coming out.
