Chapter 1

Eliza and Bob got a disturbing and quite cryptic text message from Eliza’s mother after they arrived home from their honeymoon. They had gotten married three days after they graduated highschool. They arrived at Pique Hearth, what her parents and the neighbors called their house, just as her parents finished packing their car.

Eliza: Uh mom, dad, why are you packing your car?

Alivia McLeod: Honey. We have been meaning to talk to you, but with the wedding we didn’t want to worry you and Bob. But your father and I have a reservation we have been putting back.

Eliza and Bob: A reservation?

Cedric McLeod: WE have checked ourselves into the old fold home baby.

Eliza: Uh what?!

Mom: Yes hunny. You are married now and we are old. We cannot care for this house and the bakery.

Eliza: the bakery?....

Dad: So congratulations! Your homeowners!! And a bakery owner as well!

Bob was so excited. He had always wanted to own a restaurant but he was sort of lazy and didn’t want to work to get there. But Eliza on the other hand was happy they could move out of their tiny studio apartment in Magnolia Promenade. But she did not want the bakery. Eliza was an artist with paint not frosting.

They watched her parents drive off and all Eliza could think was “What have I done”
