This is not a post I wished to make until all of the needed funds had been earned, but due to accusations of theft it seems I must do so prematurely.

Briar Nexus is shutting down. 

I want you all to know that this was never, ever the path I wanted the site to take. It is something that was and still is very dear to my heart, as I still believe there is a need for a protected space on the internet for those who need it. However, due to the multiple hiccups the site has had throughout production and the extended delay, as well as additional funds being lost out of pocket when a hired coder broke contact without providing any work, it is something I must do.

There are currently no funds remaining from the original fundraiser, and the site is not coming. However, I do wish to give refunds to those who desire them, as I still deeply value the contributions made to the project in the beginning even if the site did not come to fruition. Due to the lost funds, I would like to request that those who wish to have refunds contact me through email at briarnexus@gmail.com from the email you donated with (if possible - if not, please contact me with whichever email you are currently using and I will do whatever I can to verify). Refunds will not be immediate, as I will be sending them out as I have the money; again, I wished to do this once the refunds could be immediate.

I thank all of you for your continued support through the project’s run, and I am incredibly sorry I could not provide the site you all deserve to have. I hope that all of you can find a community where you feel safe and happy, no matter where that community may be.

You say that you'll offer refunds if you stop production of the site, but in an earlier ask, you say that refunds will be impossible due to the money having already been spent. Please, stop lying to us and just tell us the truth!

The money has been spent. However, since the previous ask, I have adjusted the positioning on that point to that it will be refunded out of pocket, if it needs to be refunded. Which, again, it will hopefully not be. At the time of previous posting, it did not seem like that would be a viable alternative.

As we have stated before, there are few updates to post because progress has been far, far slower than we intended and expected. This, again, does not mean we have scammed people and, again, does not mean we do not intend on creating the site. My apologies! I hadn’t noticed there was a date mentioned on the FAQ page. As said before, unless we say otherwise, we’re working on the site.

Nope! We just haven’t had a lot of progress to post about. If it were over, we would definitely inform people, but it’s not something we plan on giving up on any time soon.

We are extremely sorry for the lack of updates on this blog. Both myself and Fourd have had some offline difficulties that have resulted in us not being online to answer questions, and we are sorry for that.

However! Most of the issues relating to the coding have been sorted out, and we are making much faster progress to having a working beta of the site available. Once again, we thank you for your continued support and generosity in both donations and time frame, and we are excited to have a working version available soon!

As you have not fulfilled the promises that you made on your funding page, donors have every right to take the issue of your false advertising to the management of the donation site that you used. You lied, and there is no evidence that progress is even being made on the site. We do not even know what third-party is coding the site!

The donation campaign itself states that the purchased coding is from PHPfox. This has been said repeatedly in answered questions as well.

We wish to be seeing progress just as much as you do. We are again deeply sorry that the wait has been so long, and we regret having unintentionally misinformed both those who donated and those who are following this blog. We are thankful for your extended patience while we work to get the site online and we hope that, despite the delay, the site will be all that you’ve hoped as soon as it launches.

As things like the coding and domain have already been purchased, we cannot refund donations at this time. (To do so would mean some people wouldn’t get their donation back, or they would get much less back than they donated.) We are still working to get the site online, though it is taking far longer than expected, and we are thankful for your patience during this time.

Hey guys! Sorry I’m still a little distant. I’m so ridiculously busy at the moment due to college that I’ve not had chance to take the time to come here and write out replies like usual. My final major project is coming up in a week and a half for college and I have to get a lot of work done before then (I have to create a full articulated 3D model and a frame by frame 30 second 2D animation complete with full analysis, evaluation and written up research), so I’m struggling to make any time to sleep let alone come and reply to things. I’m really sorry for that, I’ll try my best to get a couple of the replies Ice had drafted up finished off and posted and other asks replied to asap, but I really cannot afford to take too much time out at this point: the course I’m taking means a lot to me and I really want to do well.
