minseok’s dreams are dark. terrifying. haunting. sometimes, but not very often, they’ll take on a more wistful tone, more nostalgic, more reminiscent, full of heartache and loss and grief and tragedy. they are unpleasant, too, but they are a welcome reprieve from his nightmares. the ones of everything he regrets, resents, hates about himself. his fears and traumas all lumped into one to terrorise his already sleepless nights.

minseok’s last dream was about his lost friends. jaeseok and minwoo and seyoung and seoha and yeonwoo and miyoung and seonho. it wasn’t congruent with his true memories, because they were sitting in the shelter of an abandoned building, huddled around a meagre fire, risky because of the monsters that lurked outside, but it was cold and they had no food apart from some squirrels they’d luckily caught. it was incongruent because miyoung and minwoo had been there - miyoung and minwoo had never had to survive outside the confines of their old dorms, because they had already died by that point. but the dream itself had been nice. a little bittersweet, but otherwise nice. until jaeseok had turned. just as he had done in real life. and it turned into a nightmare again.
