Do you ever get writers block.

Haha, oh, I certainly do! For me personally, it tends to be a matter of my conscious mind having screwed something up or written itself into a corner, and needing to give my subconscious mind time to sort the problem out and present me with the solution on a platter. Which it usually does! (Eventually.)

I am almost always writing something or other, though, and even when I’m blocked on one thing, I tend to compensate by working on something else. Sometimes that even helps; it can feel like I’ve kind of got a creative logjam, and I need to get whatever’s in front out of the way and down on paper before whatever’s behind it can get through. I know for some people, writer’s block means they can’t work on anything at all, but that doesn’t usually happen to me.

(I cannot even begin to explain how pathological this is without setting off my anxiety just from thinking about it too hard.) C (current time): 1 in the afternoon. D (drink you last had): Water. (Most days, this would not be true, but I feel a little sick today and I'm trying to hydrate properly.) E (easiest person to talk to): My sister has to come in first—we finish each other's sandwiches sentences and are capable of communicating bizarrely complex ideas and connections with nothing but Disney quotes. But honorable mentions also go to my mother, a couple RL friends, and of course to cractasticdispatches, who GETS how I do the internet and how I do fandom on a fundamental level. ♥ F (favorite song): Right this second, Dance Without You, which I listened to on a loop for like three hours last night and another half-hour this morning and still am not tired of. (This'll last another day or two, and then I'll stop needing it in my ears every single instant.) The song I have loved most for the longest is probably Wolfstone's Ballavanich, which has a section I still go rapturously silent for. G (grossest moment): The details of the time I got violently sick in the Amazon are between me and that poor waterless toilet. H (horror yes, horror no): Psychological horror, kind of yes? Don't enjoy jump scares, gore makes me sad and also ill, and generally speaking I really don't enjoy watching people be afraid or die. So mostly no. I (involved with): No one, if this is asking what it seems to be asking? J (jealous of): People with earned, deserved self-confidence, tbh. K (killed someone): ... I sincerely hope no one on tumblr has truthfully answered this in the affirmative. I have killed a few characters, though. L (love at first sight or should I walk by again): I actually don't know. I'm ace but not aro, I think, but it took me a while to work that out. I do tend to have a sense of "clicking" with people fairly quickly, but so far I've only figured out I'm kind of in love with them a while afterward. M (middle name): Jane, because one Bennet daughter wasn't enough for one name. N (number of siblings): Just the one! O (one wish): Assuming this is supposed to be personal, so stuff like "world peace" and "no one ever gets raped or murdered or starves to death ever again" isn't an option—I wish I were less lazy. There are so many things I want to do, and so few of them get done. /o\ P (person you called last): That's actually a great question, and I'm not sure I know the answer. Either my mother or my workplace, I think (my car broke down, I called both, but I'm not sure what the order was). R (reasons to smile): Really pleasant weather today; it's afternoon and every minute that goes by gets me closer to getting home and lying down with a hot drink in the hopes that I can ease all this stupid sinus pressure; most of the things/animals/people I love and care about are alive, doing well, accessible to me, and/or making me happy. S (song you last sang): 狠狠愛/Hěn Hěn Ài by Vivian Hsu! It was the last track that was playing on the CD in my car when I got to work this morning. T (time you woke up): 7:25ish—later than I meant to, but not disastrously so. U (under wear color): Black. V (vacation destination): MY COUCH. If I actually take my vacation days this year, that's probably where I'll end up. X (X-rays you’ve had): Aside from the tooth/jaw ones they're always taking at the dentist's, just the ankle. I just lurk in the shadows, like some kind of invisible digital Elf on the Shelf. RULES: TAG FOLLOWERS YOU WANT TO GET TO KNOW BETTER — NAME: Elizabeth, which I am comfortable saying here because it is the most boringly common white girl name ever. NICKNAME: Online? Damki, mostly, as short for Damkianna, which is my username pretty much everywhere. STAR SIGN: Leo! Which is ridiculous, I don't fit the profile in the least, but that's astrology for you. GENDER: I present as female and am comfortable with she/her and they/them. HEIGHT: 5'6" FAVOURITE COLOURS: Blue, green, golden yellow. I tend to love strong jewel tones in general; when I say blue I mean cobalt, green emerald (and not actual emeralds but the kind of color people call emerald). TIME RIGHT NOW: Aaaaaalmost bedtime. AVERAGE NUMBERS OF HOURS ASLEEP: 7ish? I tend to wake up after about 6 hours and then kind of doze on and off until it's actually time to get up. LAST THING I GOOGLED: The UConn NCAAW schedule! Aka what will keep me going until the WNBA season starts up again. NUMBER OF BLANKETS I SLEEP WITH: The heavier of my two comforters, since it's winter where I am. For sheer longevity, like three-quarters of the cast of Xena, because I have loved them for so long with such consistency. (My parents were Trekkies, I was watching that show before I could even understand the dialogue.) FAVORITE BOOKS: THESE ARE VERY TOUGH QUESTIONS. Tamora Pierce was a HUGE influence on me as a kid, and of course all kinds of sci-fi classics, Heinlein and LeGuin and Asimov and Octavia Butler and all; but for sheer attention paid, time spent, love poured in, and analysis done, nothing will ever beat the Harry Potter series. For all their flaws and all the places where they failed me, those books are part of me and my fandom experience in a way that I doubt can be equaled. FAVORITE BANDS/MUSICIANS: Mediaeval Baebes, Loreena McKennitt, The Old Blind Dogs, Great Big Sea, Gaelic Storm, Wolfstone; but I also love me some TSwift, a fair helping of Florence + the Machine, and embarrassing amounts of OneRepublic. Oh, and Tinariwen. I have NEVER heard a Tinariwen song I disliked. DREAM JOB: Honestly, I'm actually kind of living the dream; I get to proofread all day and then write fanfiction in my spare time, which is all I could ask for. I've only been lurking on tumblr for five years, tops.) DO YOU GET ASKS ON A DAILY BASIS: Haha, no. (Though if anybody has any questions about my fics or anything, by all means, feel free.) WHY DID YOU CHOOSE YOUR URL: Since my URL's just my username, I'll explain how I chose that instead! Simple process: I wanted something interesting but reasonably easy to remember. "Damkianna" is one way of transcribing/transliterating the name of Damkina/Damgalnuna, which may also be an alternate name for Inanna/Ishtar. I liked the way it looked, and "mistress of heaven and earth" seemed like an appropriate fannish handle in terms of what fandom allows me to do—to create, to destroy, to make and break and alter fictional worlds in so many amazing and incredible ways. In a certain sense, writing is power for me; my social anxiety and depression put walls around me IRL at times, but when I write I can be anyone, go anywhere, say and do anything, without limit: mistress of heaven and earth. I don't know, I like it a lot. :D Tagging anyone interested in this, because tbh I know almost no one here and would love to learn more about everybody, and also memes are fun!
