Fandom Problem #4837:
And today's word that people have completely diluted the meaning of-- "cultural appropriation"!
A Chinese game that was made in China by Chinese developers and Chinese designers has been called out for culturally appropriating from *drumroll* Chinese culture!
This is such next-level Western centricism-- believing that any portrayal of Chinese culture DEFINITELY came from a Westerner who is doing an act of cultural appropriation, because Chinese people making something that includes their own culture is just not even a possibility that occurred to them.

Fandom Problem #4836:
Thinkin about the fact that censoring art won’t get rid of the bigotry or harmful nature behind it, and in fact just limits literary analysis

Fandom Problem #4834:
I hate when a fandom looks at parents in fiction and decides there are only TWO kinds of parents:
Abusive Parents OR Perfect Parents.
It's rarely as narrow as that. Some are abusive, some are flawed yet still good, some won't admit their flaws, and the list goes on and on. Similar complexities carry over to parent characters in fiction.

Had a friend get harassed for a clearly stated canon divergent au... not being like canon. The whole point was not trying to be canon.

"I remember a CGI animation company wanting to avoid comparison with 'a great CGI animation company'."
Oh come on, you can't just say this and not elaborate which companies you're referring to!

4826 - A bit tangential, but this reminds me of how a few days ago, someone on a video game subreddit made a bunch of immature posts, and then went "I'm sorry for being a spastic 😂", effectively equating their goofy, rude, and toddler-y behavior to a slur for someone with cerebral palsy. How lovely, am I right?

Reply to 4829: Maybe it's just me, but usually I do not care what voice actors and actors do or think in their private time, as I only care about them doing their job well. Especially with the internet's habit of calling people harmful buzzwords for the most stupid reasons like liking the wrong ship.
Maybe if they full on committed a proven crime I would feel a bit queasy, but more due to questioning why they aren't in jail then.

4831 DNI lists are pointless! They're not some magical barrier that prevents people from following and interacting- that's what the BLOCK button is for. Telling the internet to "not interact" may also activate a troll response. It would be interesting to do a side by side comparison and see if having a DNI list makes interactions worse

Fandom Problem #4833:
People who get on your ass about an otherwise healthy and wholesome ship that just so happens to have an age gap between two consenting adults… in the fandom of the grimdark rape and dismemberment game.
I’m pretty sure the stalker girl x her victim or the war criminal x the heroin addicted child soldier are “worse” ships but you’re shipping them while complaining about the 11 year age gap ship of mine where the characters canonically care about each other and help each other and otherwise it’d be a completely fine idea.

Fandom Problem #4832:
The fact that people will accuse creators of misogyny for creating fan-service for their audience, especially for mature/cheesecake-themed works. “Why is that creator sexualizing women?!” because you’re in a male-aimed/hentai fandom Brenda. The woman’s in a bikini for the “people who like bikinis” gang, not to secretly tell you to go back to the kitchen.

Not seeing the point in filling up the description of my own little fandom space (ie. my blog), which is supposed to bring me happiness and comfort and engender chill interactions, with "nazis dni fuck radfems fuck terfs peepeepoopoo tradwives kys". No thanks. Not here for that shit. Can't tell for sure if anyone belongs to those groups eithout it being advertised anyways.

Fandom Problem #4830:
I don't care how popular someone is or how good their art is, other people are allowed to dislike them. Sometimes artists have overbearing, annoying, mean, or egotistical personalities that don't mesh with some. No we're not trying to be edgy by disliking you, human beings naturally have preferences for what kind of people they want to be around or listen to. You ain't checking any of the preference boxes, bitch! God the entitlement fan artists have these days is off the charts. It's like they think the whole should adore them by default.

Fandom Problem #4829:
Wishing for an anime voice actor you really like to return to voice your favourite character is like wishing on a monkey's paw. It happened to me recently. I was so overjoyed and even thanked the person who brought him back then I found out he supported some terrible things/views. I feel like I was punished for wanting him back!

Fandom tags are for fandom things. Art, fanfics, gifs, headcanons, role playing and so on. Is your donation post a fandom thing? No. Neither is the drama between you and whomeverthefuck. And please don't vent in the tags about how mad you are at certain users, that is a you problem and you ain't the main character.
