(also can I just say that the ending of 600 strike where Odysseus is stabbing Poseidon specifically the "You didn't stop when I begged you, told me to close my heart, you said the world was dark" part is something I could see Sakuya saying to his parents as he killed them)
Oh absolutely it makes so much sense but hear me out the underworld song with Odysseus’s mother but sakuyas sister sings that part

I think Lily fits Circes whole thing
Ooo I thought about this and I’d love this idea!
I thought about it as well for a bit and I think he’d probably fit the siren role in the story a bit better!
Reason being due to his ability to make illusions so I just think imagine your sibling is pretending to be your spouse for shits and giggles and your so tired of their bullshit kind of interaction with Kuro
I personally think misono fits the role just as well!
Because both Lily and him want to protect those they care for in this instance the all of love subclasses!
And also ironically I just think despite everything I also considered
Mikuni as Circe as well especially with the drop of the recent chapters of servamp showing his actual goals and such!
But I love the idea of lily as Circe as well

Yeah one of the main reasons for Tsubaki for me was because the song Odysseus gives me major Tsubaki going berserk vibes.
That’s so real lol
But I think the reason I choose Kuro is because of the fact of one thing he was never too enthusiastic about Germaine like Tsubaki was when he was human or a servamp so I thought it be more fitting if it was Kuro!
But I may consider making a Tsubaki version as well when I finish making this au first!

Tbh for me I always imagined Tsubaki as Odysseus.
(but for your idea, since Kuro is odysseus, imagine Germaine as Calypso)
Omg I love that idea!
I thought about that as well! Or making them Zeus! But now that you brought it up I love the idea of Germaine as calypso :3
For tsubaki ooo I thought making him Telemachus would be interesting but that’s also an idea!
Like a role swap au :D

Hey guys I’d love some advice for my epic! Servamp au
I do know that I’d want Kuro as Odysseus.
But I want to know who you guys think would fit the other roles!
So I’d love some advice for this!
What I do know is that I’m considering mahiru as polites
But I’d love any advice before I write or draw out the au itself

why "epic: the musical" should NOT become mainstream media
before i start this, i need yall to understand that this is my personal opinion. you can literally just not expand the post if you disagree. you don't have to read this. do not cancel me over this. im serious. this is a personal opinion. tws: swearing (i wrote this kinda angrily)
i talk about VERY controversial topics in this post. this is a warning.
if you expanded this post. hi! i am going to hate it if epic becomes mainstream media and wyfilwma becomes a tiktok song.
basically, in this very very long post, i was express three main points. firstly, the artistic integrity of musical theatre. secondly, the importance of niche appeal. thirdly, mainstream music culture.
my first point is the artistic integrity of musical theatre.
musical theatre in itself is an incredibly niche art form. musical theatre has never been mainstream music, and for good reason. it isn’t meant to be consumed by audiences because it’s trendy. the songs tell full stories and they are meant to be enjoyed by fans that actually enjoy it. this is especially true with epic. epic is a musical that’s a very niche thing about a very old and a very tragic story. and yeah okay i can understand why some people might be happy it’s getting really popular. i'm happy its reaching people who appreciate the work. truly.
but i will honestly flip out if it becomes mainstream.
you have to consider the artistic integrity of epic. epic thrives on storytelling. the song is a part of a larger narrative and not a chart topping hit. YOU CANNOT SEPARATE WYFILWMA FROM THE STORY OF ODYSSEUS OF ITHACA. you cannot say that wyfilwma is your favourite song ever without also saying that you like epic.
furthermore, mainstream music also favours trends over artistic consistency.
if epic was pushed into commercial music producers and record labels might attempt to modify it and shit to fit the demands of popular radio. epic, as a very unique rock opera fusion, thrives because it appeals to an audience interested in theatrical storytelling. if this was sacrificed it would be watered down for widespread appeal, that would be the shittiest thing ever.
next: THE 👏 IMPORTANCE 👏 OF 👏 NICHE 👏 APPEAL 👏
the epic fandom is one of the least toxic i have ever seen. why? because fans analyse lyrics and discuss character arcs and create fan animatics and talk about the deeper meanings of songs instead of looking at the cast and saying “ew they’re so ugly. the cast is ugly. ew. ew their voice is ugly. ew, ew, ew.”
everyone will agree with me when i say that fandoms get increasingly problematic as they become more mainstream.
THE SHIFT TO MAINSTREAM STATUS WILL ALIENATE LONGTIME FANS WHO APPRECIATE EPIC. EPIC DEMANDS A LEVEL OF ENGAGEMENT THAT CASUAL LISTENERS OF MAINSTREAM MEDIA WILL NOT UNDERSTAND OR INVEST THEMSELVES INTO.
MORE-FREAKING-OVER, niche media benefits from its audience’s passion. many epic fans enjoy feeling like they are part of a unique community. i enjoy that feeling. we share our love for something that not everyone knows about. we gatekeep because we know it’s special. if epic becomes widespread like pop hits, it will lose that sense of belonging that makes this fandom so special.
THIS IS MY PERSONAL OPINION BTW BC I KNOW A LOT OF PEOPLE LIKE MAINSTREAM MUSIC AND THAT LIKE 50 YEARS AGO THE MUSIC I LISTEN TO WAS MAINSTREAM SO BY THAT LOGIC IM A HYPOCRITE. BUT NOWADAYS ARTISTS LIKE SWIFT AND CARPENTER ARE LIKE…. I DONT LIKE THEM MUCH. LIKE. I’M SORRY.
and it's okay if you disagree. we can still be friends. why? because i dont block people because we have different opinions, and this post is just me sharing mine. thanks!
lastly, i'm going to talk about why epic is mismatched with mainstream music culture.
mainstream music, in general, and by nature, prioritises broad accessibility over deep narrative engagement.
SONGS ON RADIO AND BILLBOARD HITS ARE MEANT TO BE INSTANTLY CATCHY AND WHILE EPIC HAS DEFINITELY POWERFUL MELODIES, ITS SONGS ARE STRUCTURED TO SUPPORT A LARGER STORY RATHER THAN A STANDALONE HIT.
SONGS LIKE FULL SPEED AHEAD AND OPEN ARMS MAKE SENSE WITHIN THE ODYSSEY’S EMOTIONAL JOURNEY. OUTSIDE THAT CONTEXT, THEY WILL NOT RESONATE THE SAME WAY.
this next line is going to make half of tumblr block me. please go ahead: pop songs that focus on shitty themes like love and heartbreak and partying that is absolute dogshit compared to non-mainstream music.
epic tells a specific story rooted in greek mythology. it appeals to epic fans because we connect to odysseus. we enjoy greek mythology. THAT is why we love epic.
in conclusion:
epic is brilliant. its innovative. jorge rivera-herrans is amazing. epic is awesome. i love it, and i am happy that more and more people who are genuinely in love with this kind of storytelling are finding this musical and enjoying it.
but this musical's strength lies in theatrical nature, niche appeal, and storytelling depth. all of these would be compromised if it was forced to conform to mainstream music standards. instead of attempting to make epic fit into a commercial success, it should be celebrated for what it is: unique, narrative-driven, and something that thrives best amongst fans that actually appreciate the work.

Question for the servamp fandom
Due to the timeframe of where Kuro was from do you think he had a spouse? 🤨
Don’t get me wrong I know there’s a massive shipping thing servamp with the main characters but it made me curious.
Because mostly around that timeframe it was common to be married early in life around his human age right? Going off how young we see the age range to be considered of age, so it got my brain thinking and I haven’t really seen anyone talk about it yet.
I’d love to hear some input about it and such!
