House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., on Monday blasted Republican Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio for an “inane AND anti-Semitic” tweet that spelled billionaire hedge-fund operator Tom Steyer’s last name with a ”$.”

Steyer, whose father was Jewish, has been a prominent donor to Democratic candidates as part of his goal to have President Donald Trump impeached. Last year, Steyer planned to spend $10 million to help Democrats regain control of the House, which they did in the midterm elections.

Jordan’s spokesman Ian Fury in an emailed statement to CNBC said: “Tom Steyer is a billionaire pushing Democrats like Chairmen Cummings and Nadler to impeach the President. As you may know, the $ symbol represents dollars, of which Mr. Steyer has approximately 1.6 billion and has committed eight figures to fund far left-wing causes. ”

“Congressman Jordan has always stood against hatred and bigotry. Also, according to public sources, Steyer is Episcopalian,” Fury said.

…Nadler, who is Jewish, announced Sunday that his Judiciary Committee was requesting documents from five dozen people in the White House, the Trump Organization and others in Trump’s circle “to begin the investigations to present the case … about obstruction of justice, corruption and abuse of power” by the president.

But Nadler said the committee, which would be responsible for handling any impeachment proceedings against Trump, is “far from making decisions” on whether to actually seek impeachment.

…Steyer last October criticized House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., for a tweet that showed images of Steyer, former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg and liberal philanthropist George Soros — all of whom are Jewish — with a message that said, “We cannot allow Soros, Steyer, and Bloomberg to BUY this election! Get out and vote Republican November 6th. #MAGA.”

McCarthy’s tweet was deleted on the same day that it was posted. The tweet had been posted a week after Steyer and Soros had each been sent mail bombs, along with Hillary Clinton, former President Barack Obama, other Democratic politicians and CNN.

McCarthy’s office said at the time that the tweet “simply points out the enormous financial contributions a select few have made in this year’s midterm campaigns.”

But Steyer told CNN: “In terms of interpreting what he said, that seems, to me, like a straight-up anti-Semitic move. I think that there — that is a classic attempt to separate Americans. I think that absolutely falls into the category of what I’m describing as political violence.”

here’s the thing. this isn’t a simple disagreement. they don’t disagree about which ice cream flavor is the best. they disagree about whether or not, and the extent to which marginalized people should be treated like shit. piers morgan is a racist, homophobic, misogynistic individual. his beliefs, influence, and platform pose a direct threat to every marginalized group he routinely berates. calling beliefs that can get people hurt of even killed a mere “disagreement” is an oversimplification. when the well-being of other people are involved, it’s no longer merely an issue of dissimilarity of beliefs. her “look, we can talk and get along!” is a reflection of her privilege she has as a wealthy, heterosexual white woman in america. his beliefs [for the most part] have no impact on her. so this whole thing really falls flat and is not a good look

The next time you say that shipping Snape with Lily is romanticizing abuse, think about which character threatened to curse Lily. Think about which character bullied Lily’s friend because he was jealous of his friendship with Lily. Think about which character would only stop bullying Lily’s friend if she went out with him. Think about which character compared Lily to a Snitch for him to catch. Think about which character constantly harassed Lily even after she made it clear that she wasn’t interested in him. Think about which character bullied Lily’s friend behind her back so she would think he had changed. (It wasn’t Snape.)

just a quick note- no trans person has ever said “did you just assume my gender.” trans people are very aware of how their gender and physical appearance differ and that visually one might assume that they are a man/woman when they are actually not. that’s kind of the whole idea of gender dysphoria.

1. A London playhouse reveals that it will be doing a play about a family whose non-verbal autistic child is being sent to an institution.

The autistic child will be represented by a puppet.

2. Autistic Twitter: “A puppet? What the fuck? Like we already feel like we are treated as inhuman things with no voice.”

3. Play supporters: “but Julia from Sesame Street is okay right?”

5. Playhouse: “because of child labour laws. You can’t ask a non verbal autistic child to perform in a play day after day.”

23. Non-Autistic Autism Advocate: “I went to see it and it was SO GOOD. I totally forgot that Laurence was a puppet he seemed so much like a real autistic child in that he was not human and he didn’t even feature that much in the play.

The heartbreak of the family dealing with the tragedy of autism was so real and honest and I have NO idea why people are offended by this wonderful play that portrays autism as a family-destroying evil.

24. #ActuallyAutistic Critic: “GUYS I WENT TO SEE IT AND OMG. Theatre isn’t sensory friendly, non sensory friendly performances, no trigger warnings on anything even though it’s full of ableism and screaming people.

Plot of the play is that the kid is being taken by social services to go to an institution.

Big plot twist is that the mom called them herself because she couldn’t handle the autism anymore.

Puppet just flaps around and occasionally attacks people. I actually really love puppetry but this was messed up and not well done AT ALL.

These people are all terrible. Dad has been taking shits on the Mom’s pillow and blaming it on his non-verbal son.

Puppet gets pinned to the ground in that move that can kill people.

The puppet’s care worker says that autistic people are animals who have reincarnated as people, and he’s still the best human being in this play.

This is play is an ableist shitfest written by allistics for allistics about the tragedy of autism and how it destroys families.”

Wait a second…in POA, Snape saw Sirius’s name on the Marauder’s map, which is why he went to the Shrieking Shack. So he must have also seen Peter’s name on there, right? Lupin had. There’s no way Snape missed it. Yet, it’s never addressed. He never stops to wonder how a man Sirius was supposed to have killed was suddenly alive and in the Shrieking Shack. He completely ignores Lupin when he tries to explain Sirius’s innocence. He acts like he doesn’t know Peter’s there. How could he possibly have missed Peter’s name on the map!?
