Let me set some things straight (nope):
Joowon never wanted Dongsik dead. He wanted to arrest him, not go for blood. Jesus.
No, they do not have a father-son chemistry. You can interpret their relationship platonically, that's fine but calling them "father and son" is a REACH. Dongsik never viewed Joowon as his son and Joowon never viewed Dongsik as his father. Besides, even the charatcers compared their relationship to one of a couple. If the series wanted to establish a fatherly bond between them, they would have made the characters call them "father and son", not romantic partners.
No, Joowon is not a minor, he is frickin 28 years old. Yes, Jingoo was younger when he played Joowon but his character is supposed to be 28 years old. He.is.pushing.30.years.old. If people ship the actors together, then that's just sick and twisted but I have seen NO ONE do it. If you cannot handle an age gap, go away. There are many kdrama couples with age gaps like that and I see no complaints. I wonder why...
"Omg, Beyond Evil is not a BL, stop pushing romance in non-romance dramas". People ship a man an a woman in non-romance series if they breath next to each other but God forbid we interpret the bond between two men who have better chemistry than many canon couples as a romantic one. Not to mention the subtext.
"Why make everything gay? You lose the true meaning of the series". Every time I see a comment like this one about any lgbtq ships, I assume that the person is homophobic. There is little LGBTQ representation in media and yet people are mad over LGBTQ ships. I'd argue that we tend to heterosexualise everything with the way some writers will pull out a mid-ass straight couple for the sake of romance. And about the second statement: I've seen better analysis of the series and the characters from JWDS shippers than JWDS haters. There, I said it.
Is that it? Have I debunked every single criticism JWDS has received throughout the years?

Shin Hakyun: We have a superior-subordinate relationship. Han Joowon is my superior. Yeo Jingoo: ... But I thought we were partners 🥺
It's so fascinating to hear the actors describe how they view their characters' relationships. Jingoo has always thought of them as equal from the start, while Hakyun—who is both older than Jingoo and his senior in the industry—thinks of Joowon as Dongsik's superior.
At some point in the story especially when the second half starts, it is actually true: Dongsik is the one following Joowon's lead in every way, even—especially—when it comes to dealing with Joowon's own father.

The only way these two would have a mother-son dynamic is in their bedroom
Yall dongsik ends the series as juwons mom-adjacent like he's surrogate parenting this kid by the end

it’s fascinating to me how some ships that are not canon have so much charged energy between them just from a single glance, and then there are canon ships that have as much flavor as wet recycled cardboard, which is to say, no flavor

I'm probably being overdramatic but every time I see a new Beyond Evil fanart, edit or post in general, I just get the biggest whiplash. It's so crazy for me to enter the Beyond Evil fandom and still see new content in the year of 2025. Yes, the series did not become as popular as others but our fandom remains stable and the fans are so loyal.
There are kdramas out there which became more popular and yet they don't have that much of fan content. Beyond Evil has everyone on chokehold and I couldn't be happier about it.
Also, isn't it ironic how JWDS continues to be the heart of the fandom, after all of this hate and people a cussing the fans of "making everything about their ship" and "losing the meaning of the series"? Like, no matter what, every single time a new fan watches the show, they end falling in love with Dongsik and Joowon's dynamic, lol. So take that homophobic bitches.
Last but not least, I want to express my gratitude towards all fans who make the beautiful content we are being fed with. Without all of these artists, editors, writers etc, the fandom would have died a long time ago and yet here you are blessing us.
