sorry admin has been busy with school and i haven’t had access to internet at the apartment so i haven’t been on to check and stuff so i just queued a bunch of things. 

but i’m probably going to close dangpa down for now. i tried to make changes to suit the changing environment in krp but it seems the rp and i couldn’t adapt and as the saying goes adapt or die! (or at least i say this lmao) either way i had a great time while running this rp for the short time i was able to and i was grateful to all the responses! everyone was very sweet! i’m sorry i couldn’t live up to your expectations!

welcome to the revamped dangpa!

for opening this time i’ve decided to hold a soft opening, as a trial run of the new rp and to see if it works. during this trial run only a six slots will be open for people to rp and once those slots are taken we won’t be accepting anymore for the time being. if things go well we will have an official opening.

the premise.

dangpa is the new region introduced in the new pokemon game being developed by the pokemon company. you have been selected as one of the new beta testers for the game. here’s the twist! the new game uses advanced vr technology and finally puts the user into the world of pokemon, granting an experience so lifelike that it feels indistinguishable from real life.

once in the game players answer a series of questions and are soon assigned to the hometown that best matches their personality: todo, mokdo, ildo, sudo, woldo or hwado. they are allowed to pick one partner pokemon of their choosing from the accepted list and are then given five pokeballs to begin their journey.

dangpa is made up of six small towns and the downtown/metropolis city known as central city. players will come from the various hometowns to come to central city in order to make their pokemon dreams come true! battle the pokemon league, become a top pokemon coordinator, open your very own poffin cafe. the world is yours! divide and conquer!

once you apply you have 24 hours to send in your blog.  your url should have dp somewhere in it. please do not use hyphens. examples include: dpname, namedp, dpxname, namexdp.

when picking a partner pokemon and building your pokemon roster please check with the list of restricted/limited pokemon if you have any question.

the thing is i definitely wanted/considered joining but i was held back by the historical aspect. not particularly because it's a historical concept but because unless you use an fc who's acted in historical drama's it's hard to get gif icons/ pictures you can reblog that visually represent your muse in that time period. i'm so sorry your idea didn't have the success you were wishing for. i was definitely rooting for you

no it’s ok you don’t have to be sorry sometimes it doesn’t pan out and that’s totally fine! i’m still planning on keeping the rp around just with some revamps to help widen the appeal. i honestly didn’t think that part of the concept would hold people back that much simply because i guess i didn’t think of the community as a whole. me personally i’m not one to use icons or worry about visuals all that much when rping, but of course that’s just a personal preference and different for everyone. while it may not bother me i know it ruins the immersion for a lot of people and that ruins their rp experience which i totally get.

i’m sorry i put your post under the cut but i hope that’s ok!! 

as for the whole japanese/korea situation i won’t address the point any further. i’ve thought about it a lot and personally i didn’t think it that way, but i know people do and in the end if i decide to change anything about the rp it’ll be because of my own volition. 

but as for your points! thank you for taking the time to give me all this wonderful advice! 

i had thought about making the whole process easier. initially i wanted to go for an appless process but i wasn’t sure if it would work out with the plot i have developed but i have some ideas to tweak the rp so an easier application process could possibly be used to appeal to the new generation. 

as for opening what you’re saying is true, but even then i think i would still like to aim for at least a goal of five people just to have a bit more variety. 

for now i have a revamp idea in mind so i’ll test that out for a bit and see how it goes! 

I apologize or replying to you question this way, but after seeing the last two responses, I had to step in and give my two sense. If you may indulge me as I breakdown the first response about the Japanese culture of Pokemon vs.(combined) Korean heritage. Yes the beginning first couple of regions were inherently Japanese in its roots but what about the other regions that were based on other cultures. As a Native Hawaiian, I did not nor did any of the population in Hawaii rise up against Sun and Moon because of its “cultural appropriation” and Hawaii has also some grey area with Japan because of World War 2 (Pearl Harbor to be exact)… I understand some people have certain boundaries with Japan/Korea mixing… but this kind of RPG is what is needed! To challenge and break that boundary! I commend you admin for taking the risk and creating something pure and original. YES!- there are people who do not feel comfortable with Japan/Korean culture mixing. BUT NO- its not reason enough to change the base of this perfectly crafted design of yours. I wanted to voice this opinion as I believe this should not be the driving change to get more applicants. What I believe to be the biggest draw back is a couple of points… I will list them so they’ll be easier to read and understand…

- Basic concept with a depth-defying theme.  Pokemon is generally for a younger audience. The fan base that roleplays with this genre tend to stick around that younger fan base. Roleplayers may find it intimidating that the world of pokemon would become a bit more expansive in story telling than it would be just high school life or straight up battling. To ease these roleplayers, the lifestyle within this rpg should be made a bit more(a lot more) simplistic. For example, having to pick and choose pokemon by region/area then read up on the area to create a feasibly realistic character is a big challenge for a not-seasoned rper. Also the how to evolve your pokemon is also a bit challenging to newer rpers. - This generation of KRP'ers are different. Now that tumblr has chased off many of its users… urgh.. many of the roleplayers on this site, especially krpers, are leisure based and are not dedicated enough to characters to flesh out stories. Rps that feel like they have to para-novella replies to get stories unraveled tend to scare krpers away or cause them to lose muse really early on. To adapt to these krpers today, create a smaller community or a smaller area for characters to live and interact so that rpers will find it easier to interact without having to explain a 8 mile journey to interact with people. A bit more slice of life if you will..

-Sadly, you just gotta open. Most places that say they will open when a ‘certain number’ of applicants tend to lie and create multiple accounts just to apply and seem like they have drawn attention when really 12/15 applicants are the admin and within a week only 4/15 remain active. I say plan a second grand opening with a set date, spam the ads with various ads, find real applicants and open with whatever you got. Having an active roleplay, even with just 2 people going back and forth, is more attractive to new applicants than one that never gets to open.
