A Brief Comparison Between Indoor and Outdoor Soccer
Tumblr media
Indoor and outdoor soccer are two variants of the same sport. Both forms of soccer adhere to the same fundamental rules and require similar skill sets but exhibit distinct differences in playing environment and gameplay.
Outdoor soccer fields measure 360 feet long by 225 feet wide. In contrast, indoor soccer fields are much smaller, ranging from 175 to 210 feet long and 100 feet wide. Due to restricted space, indoor soccer games involve faster-paced matches with tighter passing windows and fewer goals.
Indoor soccer matches have shorter durations compared to outdoor matches and last 60 minutes with a five-minute break included. Outdoor soccer games consist of two halves of 45 minutes each. Indoor games involve a team of four to seven players, whereas outdoor teams consist of 11 players. Indoor soccer allows unlimited player substitutions and rapid changes, in contrast to the limited substitutions and restricted substitution times permitted in outdoor soccer.
Lastly, players play outdoor soccer on natural or artificial turf, whereas indoor soccer occurs on synthetic turf within walled-off arenas. The presence of walls allows players to utilize rebound walls for strategic advantage and emphasizes rapid decision-making.
