I’m off the firm belief that there was nothing Rhaenyra could have done to prevent the usurpation of her crown and it was inevitable due to no fault of her own.

That being said, I genuinely think one, if not the biggest mistake made by the Blacks was marrying between themselves and not making early betrothals.

Luke and Rhaena should have never been betrothed, and instead used to make alliances with houses that they knew they had a weaker bond with. Joff and the little ones should have also been betrothed by the time the dance broke out too. It’s insane to me that no one on her council had advised or pushed that.

I can understand Jace and Baela, keeping the direct bloodline the most “pure” (ew sorry gross, but it’s how those blondies work) makes sense.

They had at least five possible alliances that could have been made, but chopped it down to three.
