The Lazy Dog

A group of animals were preparing to go to a nearby rice field because it was harvest time. It was the custom of the people in the merrymaking. It was to take place after the harvest.

One of the animals, the dog, was too lazy to go with the others. He preferred to sleep instead of looking for something to eat. So when the group departed, he just slept.

When the group came back, each was full and satisfied. They too, enjoyed the merrymaking and the food. Each of them was also carrying some leftovers. The dog who was now so hungry after a long sleep asked each one of the animals for a little food but nobody wanted to give him even a small piece of meat

The Carabao Got Tired

A carabao got tired of working in the field and told his master he wouldn’t work anymore. He envied the cows that, from morning till night, were just grazing in the grasslands while he, from morning till night, worked hard in the field. From time to time he saw some cows being herded into a big truck and were taken somewhere.

Thinking that the cows were being taken to a field trip, he told his master that he too, wanted to go with the cows so he could see different places. The master agreed. One day a big truck came and he was herded into it along with the other cows. He was full of regrets when they reached their destination. It was the town’s slaughterhouse.

The Monkey Who Wanted To Swim

Once there was a monkey that could do so many things other animals could do. He could run fast, carry heavy loads, bark like a real dog and moan like a goat and many other things. He would always tell other animals that he is the most superior animal because he resembled a man.

One day, while he was walking near a river, two big ducks in the water challenged him to swim. He didn’t know how to swim but there were other animals that heard the challenged and prodded him to join the race in the water. He accepted the challenged and jumped at once into the water. But alas, the water was so deep that he drowned.
