Day 2- Pro’s and Con’s
It’s my second day in of dealing with the sacrifice of watching and playing less violent content, and I have to tell you that it’s hard having the temptation of forgetting about this sacrifice. I say this because it does entertain me such as games as “Injustice 2,” “Mortal Kombat” and “Grand Theft Auto 5″ because of the thrill of playing these types of games. For  example, for children who plays violent content, the content may include blood and killing but it may help them deal with anger that they and that is a pro. However, a con is that when playing violent video games, the games might show that child that they like it and can  develop behavior of doing the same thing in real life situations. This makes me realize of how when playing violent content it might always not be for a bad cause of children or any person real life behavior. However, that’s not always the case of children blowing off some steam or anger, these violent contents can be a major cause of children’s real life actions and behavior, and also not having the ability to not be mindful of people surrounding you. So what do you believe video games cause, just playing for fun or to blow off some steam or for real life violent behavior?
Tumblr media
                                                   Or This
Tumblr media
Therefore these images, reasons, and thoughts shows what I believe based on how children intend on playing violent content.
I believe that children play violent content and I think that, that content is played for only two reasons, playing for fun or entertainment or playing to see how to use this violent behavior in real life. For example, a source that’ll show violent content is played for entertainment or the fun of it is called, “Video Game Violence Pros and Cons.” In this source it states, “Aggression that is felt in real life can be easily taken out in a virtual one. This may help people to focus their anger to a game, which is harmless.” Another piece of evidence from the same source states, “The violence in these video games also show the consequences of this violence, which may help people to understand the real repercussions of violence in the real world.” These two pieces of evidence of above explains pros of playing violent content and it shows that paying violent content doesn‘t  mean that you’ll use it in real life too, to develop that type of behavior. I also think it explains how violent content can just be a resource of having fun and having some type of entertainment like I’ve stated before. Therefore these reasons, explanations, and evidence from sources shows pros of playing violent content and how that content isn’t always used for developing violent behavior.
Tumblr media
However, on the other hand, I also believe that playing violent video games can build a tendency for using that violence in the games as a resource for using violent behavior in the real world. Also for using violent content as a bullying resource and when doing that not being mindful of their peers around them. For example, a source that’ll show cons of playing violent content is called, “Violent Video Games-ProCon.org.” In this source it states, “Many perpetrators of mass shootings played violent video games. The teenage shooters in 1999 Columbine High School massacre of 13 students played violent combat games. Many mass shootings have been carried out by avid video game players.” Another piece of evidence from the article states, “There is a broad consensus among medical associations, pediatricians, parents, and researchers, that violent video games increase aggressive behavior. A study published in Psychology of Popular Media Culture found that 90% of pediatricians and 67% of parents agreed or strongly agreed that violent video games can increase aggressive behavior among children.” One last piece of evidence states, “ More than 98% of pediatricians in the United States say that too much exposure to violent media heightens childhood aggression.” These pieces of evidence above explains why and how violent video games can effect the way children can behave in the mist tragic ways, such as, school shootings, bullying, and the increase of violent and aggressive behavior. Therefore these reasons, explanations, evidence and statistics shows how and why I believe violent video games can build a tendency for using that violence in the games as a resource for using violent and aggressive behavior in the real world.
Tumblr media
So now I leave thinking, what do you believe? That children playing violent video games cause violent behavior in the real world, that it’s just played for fun, or entertainment, or both? After reading this blog I would say both because there are different types of people in the world and I say it depends on the person and the level of violence and graphic in that specific game. If you’re a person who just plays these violent games for fun or entertainment then that’s the option or route you would take, but if you’re someone who  enjoys violence in games but intends to use that same behavior in the real world then that’s the option or route that you’ll take. But to determine on how you go about this is looking at three main factors, what type of person you’re, what type of things do you enjoy, and what intentions you have now and for the future. Now I leave you with only one question, what type of person are you?

Day 1- First Day Of Sacrifice
The thing that l’ll be sacrificing is watching less violent television shows/movies and playing less violent games because I believe that influence will impact on more violent behavior and activity. Another reason why I believe making this sacrifice can probaly reduce or even stop gun violence or violence on it’s own is because people tend to get this violent behavior from feeding of off violent television shows and movies and playing violent video games. However, my goal is to do the exact opposite and by doing that watching less violent content such violent television shows and movies and also playing less video games. Also with this sacrifice it would mean that I would have to give up something that I enjoy doing on a daily basis but doing will be for the greater good because how much more loss can we take? For example, according to the website, “American Psychological Association,” also known , “Psychology- Science In Action.” In that article it states, “As a result of 15 years of “consistently disturbing’’ about the violent content of children programs, the Surgeon Scientific Advisory Committee on television and social behavior was fromed in 1969 to asses the impact if violence in the attitudes, values and behavior of viewers. The resulting report and a follow up report in 1982 by the National Institute of Mental Health identified these major effects of seeing violence on television.” The effects of this are below
“Children may become less sensitive to the pain and the suffering of other people around them.”
“Children may be more fearful of the world around them.”
“Children may be more likely to behave in aggressive or harmful ways towards others.”
I can explain the evidence sated above because basically explains how the violent content that kids are watching can effect the way that they think and process things. This makes me realize how above in the evidence it talks about kids becoming less and less sensitive about the people who are surrounding them and also children behaving in more and more aggressive ways and those things can reflect on how kids are less mindful of their surroundings and those types of things can effect kids thinking process.
Tumblr media
Following my sacrifice of watching and playing less violent content, children has been entertained with violent content has most likely been under te influence of having more violent and aggressive behavior. For example, with that behavior they have been arrested because of that behavior and also according to the chart below. Therefore these claims, reasons, data, and evidence behind it backing it supports how violent content can help start an aggressive and violent thinking process.
Tumblr media
With the chart source above called, “Overall Indusrty Averages:Three Year Comparisons” shows and proves that with “violent programs” can start violent aggression and can start criminal activity. Also with another website called, “Harvard Health Publishing” also known as “Harvard Medical School” with an article called “Violent video games and young people.” In that article it states, “In the most recent policy statement on the media violence, which includes dicsussin of video games as well as television movies and musi, the AAP cites studies that link exposure to violence in the mdia with aggression and violent behavior in youths.” It also states, “The AAP policy describes violent video games as one of many influences on behavior, nothing that many children’s television shows and movies also contain violent scenes. But the authors believe that video games are particularly harmfuk because they are interactive and encourage role-playing. As such, the authors fear that these games may serve as virtual rehearsals for actual violence.” One lat piece of evidence states, “Some meta-analyses of the literature reviewing psychological research studies and large observational studies have found an association between violent video games and increased aggressive thinking and behavior in youths. And some casual observers go further, assuming that tragic school shootings prove a lin between such games and real world aggression.” Based on this evidence above, showing that video games with strong violent content can make children build up a thinking process using violent behavior. Another chart from the same article, “Violent video games and young people” shows actual facts and statistics of how evidence and reasoning behind it is true.
Tumblr media
Therefore based on the claims, theories, evidence and statistics from that shows and proves how kids that are in an environment that is exposed to violent content can lead them down a path connected to violent and aggressive behavior.
Based on the evidence and statistics above my thoughts on the subject is that it has been proven by research facilities and experts that violent content has been a major effect their hostility behavior meaning violent and bad behavior. Also that signs of violent behavior was already being shown by children before the violent content, however, numbers of hostility level based on the violent content has risen massively. I believe that this connects back to my sacrifice of watching and playing less violent content because the graph from above shows the exact reason of why I chose this sacrifice. That reason is because I want to avoid going down the path that children who has been into a lot of this violent content has gone down to. For example, like I said before according to the chart above, it shows how hostility levels in children has risen according to the behavior they have been showing. Also that their mind are set in a way of being addicted to liking and somehow being connected to these violent contents.
A source that can prove and back up my thoughts above are from a source called, “New York Times” with an article called, “Shooting In The Dark.” In that article it states, “The research falls into three categories, short term laboratory experiments, longer term studies, often based in schools and correlation studies between playing time and aggression, for instance, or between video game sales and trends in violent crime.” It also states, “;Lab experiments confirm what any hames knows in his gut playing games like “Calll of Duty”, “Killzone 3,” or “Battlefield 3,” stirs in the blood. In one recent study, Christopher Bartlett, a psychologist at Iowa State University, led a reseach team that had 47 undergraduates play “Mortal Kombat,” “Dead Alliance” for 15 minutes . Afterward, the team took various measures of arousal, both physical and psychological. It also tested whether the students would behave more aggressively, by having them dole out hot sauce to a fellow student who, they were told, did not like spicy food but had to swallow the sauce.” One last piece of evidence from the article states, “Sure enough, compared with a group who had played a nonviolent video game, those who had been engaged in “ Mortal Kombat” were more aggressive across the board. They gave their fellow students significantly bigger portions of the hot sauce.”
Tumblr media
I believe that the image and the evidence from the source “New York Times’ and the article called, “Shooting In The Dark” proves my thoughts and claim above. With me stating that I think that children who are drawn to entertained by violent video games feel like they’re somehow connected to it and I think that the evidence from the article and the image above proves that. Therefore these reasons, evidence, claims, and thoughts shows how I and that you should believe that violent behavior tends to come from violent content that children are entertained by.
Now I’ll leave you thinking, do you believe that children gets this violent behavior from out of nowhere or from the violent content that they’re entertained by? Why do you think I made this sacrifice, for nothing or starting but also stopping something way bigger than us, violent and aggressive behavior? If you believe the statements that I’ve made above, you’re willing to make the same sacrifice as me which is giving up watching and playing less violent content. I believe what with the evidence, reasons and explanations above that making the point and sacrifice that I’m making is worth your time. I hope that you take this action and that you believe me, the real question is do you?
