I wrote this thinking about how ADHD would affect him in a time when disorders like that were misunderstood. And for anyone who didn’t catch it, Minimal Brain Dysfunction was the most common term used for what we now know as ADHD back in those days (late 1950s to early 1970s)

I’m so tired of seeing people who headcanon Darry’s second job as a stripper reducing it to some joke. I’m tired of seeing people writing borderline trauma porn with the excuse of “oh but he’s just my widdle guy! he’s a silly little punching bag!”. I’m so tired of seeing people basically say “yes i think that Darry sells his body in order to ensure that Ponyboy and Sodapop have enough food on the table, but he’s just a silly little guy! He’s a goofy goober and sex work is such a silly and funny thing!! Laugh with me guys!!”. Arguably, making sex work out to be a joke out to be a joke is just as bad as people who act like prudes about it. Am i saying you can’t headcanon it? Not at all. Sex work is still a job, even if it’s a complicated or. but stop treating it like it’s some silly, goofy thing, Especially when you consider why Darry would have to do it in the first place. Darry being a twenty year old kid and supposedly selling his body just so he can feed himself and his brothers isn’t something that you should be finding funny or “quirky” or “AnGsT MaTerIaL!!!”. It’s incredibly sad when you think about it, and i’m tired of seeing people taking subject matters that can be a quite sensitive and turning it into a silly joke to fill your angst quota Don’t turn desperation into something cute. It’s not. It just feels so fetishized sometimes, like to a disgusting degree, especially given that the fandom is majorly made up of minors.

It seems to be a trend in this fandom to treat sexual trauma/abuse out to be a joke and it makes me absolutely sick to my stomach.

Steve who can't eat a full meal because of his father's insults and comments.

Two-Bit who helps Steve eat more, but doesn't let steve know that's what he's doing.

Two-Bit who'll bet 5 dollars that he can eat this burger faster than Steve.

Steve who finally catches on and asks him about it. Two-Bit who explains. Steve who nearly cries because someone actually cares about him.

Two-Bit who'll give Steve enough money for a full breakfast, and tell him ‘Don't even think about paying me back. I don't care how much you insist, I will not take the money!’

Two-Bit who has severe alcoholism.

Two-Bit who can't put down the bottle.

Steve who catches on to Two-Bit's alcoholism. Steve who decides to help Two-Bit like Two-Bit helped him.

Steve who'll snatch the bottle from Two-Bit's hand and put it back in the fridge without hesitation.

Steve who'll threaten to not eat a single bite if Two-Bit orders alcohol when they go out to a restaurant.

Steve who'll pay for Two-Bit's drink so long as it has no alcohol.

Two-Bit who doesn't understand why Steve is doing this.

Steve who says ‘You helped me get better, and I'll be damned if I don't help you.’

Two-Bit and Steve who believe the other can get better.

Two-Bit and Steve who do get better.

i decided to go through all the reels that trevor liked/commented on, and while some are a a bit fucked up and probably shouldn’t have been liked most of them are harmless shit that would have been “edgy” humor in 2020/2021. not defending all his likes, some are undeniably fucked up, but let’s remember he was pretty young too and covid stunted people’s mental growth as well. i think it’s worth being like hey this is fucked up but cancel culture is going too far and losing its actual important value.

also he is literally an actor playing a role we don’t know him and can enjoy his work and character without him. write/draw something with josh!pony or the new tour pony if it helps you feel better about it all.
