The martial law drama has been programmed in the special section Open Doors, which showcases early works by notable international directors and essential contemporary cinema of a focus region. For 2019-2021, @filmfestlocarno is highlighting Southeast Asia. Three other landmark Filipino films have been selected: Masahista (Brillante Mendoza), Engkwentro (Pepe Diokno), Six Degrees of Separation from Lilia Cuntapay (Antoinette Jadaone).
