Having finally watched the Andor series, what in the everloving FUCK was that. That is the “high cinema” people have been jacking off to and lording over the rest of Star Wars as the greatest thing in the world?????????? What the FUCK is Rogue One continuity??? Never heard of it! What the fuck did they do to Cassian???? He’s not even vaguely similar to his established character in Rogue One.
It’s a lazy, self-congratulating mess that is more concerned with praising itself than telling a compelling story with compelling characters (which the show can claim neither of). It fails as a prequel and snubs whatever existing canon it can while martyring itself and Luthen Big Dick as the unsung hero that “made” the Rebellion. BITCH???? WHERE?????
The female characters (if you can call them characters) are treated so strangely and constantly tortured by the narrative without reason or development or payoff.
Cassian was barely in his own show. He was not a driving force behind any of the plot. Events just happen to him. “Suddenly the Rebellion is real for you. I’ve been in this fight since I was six years old” “We don’t all have the luxury of deciding when and where we want to care about something” WHERE was the exhausted REBEL SPY AND ASSASSIN who has been in if-not-rebel-then-anarchist cells for his entire life? According to Andor, he’s only been a rebel for a FUCKING year????? WHAT THE FUCK.

I agree with your opinion when it comes to that SW show by Tony Gilroy. People can mock me for this, and I no longer care anymore, but I am forever a prequel trilogy fan. And I will always love the prequels no matter what. But shows like that one show by Tony Gilroy have some glaring flaws that don't sit right with me. I watched S2 because I thought it would improve, but it didn't. I gave up after that and rewatched my all-time fave SW media, the prequel trilogy. And did you notice how easily offended fans of that SW show are when people criticize it? Yeah... it's still kinda sad and ironic that people still criticize the PT to this day, but if you say one word about that SW show, people will get mad and defend that show also telling that we're wrong. That's a little hypocritical, IMO 😐
You are so right, my friend! I love the prequels with all my heart. It is rather interesting how easily get offended when you criticize it. I mean I want to talk about how I didn't like it. And some can't handle that a few may not like the show as much as they do.
Of course! They criticize the prequels, sequels and the acolyte relentlessly and we fans just have to take it. But once someone voices one critique of Andor, they are all up in arms. It's rather frustrating. I understand.
It's nice to know I'm not alone in this void of the internet :)

you know, you dont actually have to keep watching a tv show you dont enjoy,,, if you didnt like andor after the first arc why even keep watching? hell, why watch the second season at all if you didnt like the first?
I love everything Star Wars and really wanted to like it. So thats why I kept watching. And I kept hoping it would get better. I don’t get the hype and I wish I did.

Why are they showing the rebellion in a terrible light? Luthen and Kleya treat people as being disposable, are incredibly unsavory, cold, cruel and callous. Am I supposed to be rooting this rebellion on? The rebellion is meant to be noble and better than the empire.
This light that andor is casting up the rebellion is so...wrong.

Thoughts on Andor:
Let me start by saying I’m not a Disney Star Wars hater. I actually love a lot of what Disney has done, and Rebels is my favorite Star Wars thing to exist. I say that because I know calling people haters is the knee jerk reaction a lot of people have to any criticism of Star Wars these days.
That said, as someone who loves Rebels and is put off by shows that use things like SA as a lazy shorthand for oppression, I cannot bring myself to heap praise on Andor the way so many have.
Andor is a show that feels like a fan fiction where the writer inserts their OC into everything and gives them credit for pre-existing canon. This is particularly egregious, in my opinion, with how Mon Mothma and the Rebellion has been treated. This most recent episode where they could have done a nice call out to Rebels and instead chose to disrespect it has left a particularly sour taste in my mouth.
For everything great it does, it will just never be one of my favorite Star Wars projects—not just because of the above, but because I like Star Wars that doesn’t feel like it’s embarrassed to be Star Wars.
I love Jedi and the Force and crazy things like riding Space Whales to other galaxies, and none of that takes away from the fact that the franchise has always been anti-fascist, anti-imperial, and dealt with serious themes.
This isn’t a call out for anyone who likes it. There are many things in both seasons that are frankly spectacular such as Mon’s speech tonight, but I personally can’t wait for next year when we get back to Mandalorians and Jedi and crazy lore building.

Can you imagine if Filoni had said the Rebellion wouldn’t exist without Ahsoka or the Ghost crew? If he decided to make established characters act completely out of character just so his OCs could lecture them?
But, nah, it’s cool coming from a show that continuously disrespected the established Rebellion for the sake of propping up its own characters.
I would love to love Andor the way other people do, but it’s treatment of female characters and reliance on certain tropes and it’s desire to tarnish the Rebellion is something that I just personally cannot get past. There were already nuances and complexities in the Rebellion with disagreements about tactics and resources that still managed to treat everyone with due respect.
So happy next year we get the return of Star Wars made by people who actually like Star Wars.

What is Mon Mothma's motivation in joining the rebellion? She's living a cushy life. We haven't seen a single conversation that shows her motivation.
Why is Andor in this rebellion? We hear he says in Rogue One that he's been "in this fight since" he "was five years old" which is such a powerful line. Yet, we see him futzing around with a ship and he is taken prisoner for the SECOND TIME.
Mon Mothma and Dedra are portrayed as calculating and cruel women who are brittle, shrill, inflexible, and emotionally cold. The others like Vel were okay.
Luthen and many of the other characters I find to be very disengaging. And there has been no fun which is trademark to Star Wars in ANY of these episodes.
Again, there were little to no people of color in this show. Hmm. And the one show where we had that it was canceled.
Also in a show like Star Wars which is meant for children there was outright sexual violence on screen. Graphic and sexual violence has also been hinted at in Star Wars but in a show for children it should never have been outrightly done. I do enjoy shows where they delve into the darker and more cruel topics of humanity but it has no business or place in Star Wars. It's ridiculous. STAR WARS IS FOR KIDS! We go from Skeleton Crew and then we go to rape. I don't understand.
Apart from that attempted rape there was little to no significant action throughout the three episodes. I laughed once and I suppose the comedy was better than last season. I do not understand why this mediocre show is glorified so much.

Certified ANDOR hater right here 🖐️
I am so tired of hearing how it is a masterpiece. It is NOT. It is so utterly boring and there’s no GOAL. It is trying too hard to be a space opera and it is falling flat on its face.
And Andor has been taken prisoner at least TWO times within these two seasons and he had done absolutely nothing. The rebellion is assassinating people??? How is this showing the rebellion in a good light? Mon Mothma acts as though every conversation holds the weight of a thousand moons. The close relationship between Mon’s daughter and husband disintegrated. Even though last season they made a point to show the disconnect between Mon and her daughter.
AND we have the good old fashion queerbaiting from Disney concerning Vel.
What a waste of my time. I don’t know why I keep trying with this show. I TRY. And I still do not understand why this show is treated like gospel.
It seems that the same people that are worshipping it are those who hated the Acolyte. Which was not perfect but far more interesting than Andor.

“I purposely developed themes and ideas and repeat them. And it’s very very clear in the [original and prequel] trilogies that I’m putting the characters in pretty much the same situations, sometimes even using the same dialogue so that the father and son go through pretty much the same experience. Obviously, Anakin takes a different road than his son takes, so at some of these turning points they go the other way — but it’s been set up for you to almost expect Luke to follow in his father’s footsteps, which leads to a subtle influence which gives the audience a little expectation… “ - [George Lucas, The Phantom Menace DVD commentary track, 2001]

At the end of Phantom Menace, during the funeral of Qui-Gon Jinn, we get possibly my favourite single shot of the entire Star Wars franchise. Yoda and Windu have just discussed which of the two Sith were destroyed, "the master or the apprentice?" And then, we slowly cut across Anakin, Obi-Wan and Padme before settling on Palpatine. Even if you don't approve of them giving away the twist of his character to those who didn't already know, it's undeniably a chilling moment.
And it's even better when, as was pointed out to me on a few occasions, you realise there's further foreshadowing with the placement of the characters. Anakin on one side, Palpatine on the other, with Obi-Wan and Padme between them. Those two are the ones who both metaphorically and literally stand between the future Emperor and his eventual apprentice. No idea if that really was intentional by George, but if it was, then my hat is off to the man, because that is some fine symbolism there :)
