Peter Chan’s “For the Love of Gold” at Galerie Youn.
A selection of works from artist Peter Chan’s recent exhibition “For the Love of Gold,” which had been virtually on view at Galerie Youn in Montreal, Canada.
Within many of Chan’s paintings, we see characters enthralled by golden objects, inspecting them, meditating on them, measuring their worth.
Chan hopes the viewer will question their own attraction to the mesmerizing metal and will consider gold’s immutable power to buttress civilization through currency, commerce, and conceptions of cost.
Most importantly, “For the Love of Gold” demonstrates Chan’s astounding ability as a painter of texture and light; of surface and refection. It establishes him as a prodigious talent, effectively achieving the tricky task of replicating and communicating the spellbinding beauty of gold.
With this exhibition, Peter has earned his place among the illustrious artists of history, whose paintings have been celebrated, discussed, and valued down through the ages.

The Perez Brothers’ “More Bounce” for NEXUS III.
Curated by Thinkspace Projects, “NEXUS III” is a series of solo exhibitions including artist The Perez Brothers’ “More Bounce” currently on view virtually at The Brand Library and Arts Center in Glendale, California.
The Perez Bros are identical twin brothers Alejandro and Vicente (born 1994) from South Gate, CA. After graduating from South East High School, they attended Otis College of Art and Design to pursue a degree in Fine Art focusing on painting. At Otis is where they began working as a collaborative duo.
They were exposed to the car culture in Los Angeles at a very young age. Their father has been a part of a lowrider car club for as long as they can remember. They are fascinated with the culture, from the cars to the models, to the people and the music. Through their paintings, they try and capture certain moments that they see when they attend car shows, that personify the experience for them. Larger paintings seem to capture the mood and feeling of these car events, while smaller paintings tend to capture more intimate events. Through their paintings, they hope to make the viewer feel as if they were attending a car show.
