So, I don't want this to come off as rude or intrusive in any way, and I'm sorry if you don't like to talk about this with strangers but well This past few months I've been really struggling with mental health and atp my psychologist just straight up told me she believes I need to see a psychiatrist because she believes I might have BPD, and in some way seeing that you struggle (I don't know if that's the correct word, sorry if it's not) with the same has made me feel more… calm?

Like you do all this amazing things, you draw what you love, animate for you and other people and work (even that is amazing for me cuz I believe I'll never be stable enough for a job), you continue creating and don't stop, it's, I do not know, it's somehow inspiring because I have points in my mind where I feel so down that I just want to quit art, because I think I will never be happy about what I do and then what is the point? But then I think that maybe if you can, then not everything is lost to me. I know that our struggles are not the same and I am not trying to say that you are "lower" "to any other artist, I really do not want this to come off like that, just … I don't know, I really wanted to thank you for being open about the theme and trying to lift people too. You are an incredible artist and a sweet person also and I seriously aspire to be a fraction of what you are one day :'))

BPD is still super stigmatized in society, and I really want to show that it’s not a life sentence, and it doesn’t mean you’re dangerous. You can still create! I regularly go through awful waves of self-hate and disappointment, but it doesn’t stop me — because seriously, who else is going to bring to life the stories I want to see? Who’s gonna draw them the way I imagine them? Skills aren’t something you’re just born with — and I truly believe that if you give yourself time, you can reach anything you want :) Even if you’re starting out confused, unsure of what you even like or who you are at all… (hi, BPD!)

If you enjoy the process — that’s what really matters. You will get there. There are so many amazing artists out there who weren’t stopped by mental or physical disabilities, and so many wonderful people who live with diagnoses that are unfairly associated with danger or crime. Your disorder does not define you. You’ve got this!

I’m not the best at writing motivational speeches, and there’s a lot more I wish I could say — but I’m trying not to delay this post forever like I did with a few messages in my anon mailbox (I do remember them!! I reread the sweet stuff there a lot, and I’ll reply soon, I promise ^^), so… better now while I’ve got at least a little break.

There are quite a few artists here, so I think someone might need it!

I suffer from BPD, and every time I have a little blackout and start talking crazy nonsense, when my head clears I often write a post on my telegram blog that dispels the thoughts that tormented me. I decided to translate it for ya! Some of my recent ones.

Don't say "ugh I don't have a consistent style or vibe" Say "holy shiiit my style's flexible as hell — I can do this, I can do that, I can do whatever the hell I want, and every single time I bring something fresh to the table for everyone." The theory of originality: Perhaps everyone around you seems more unique than you simply because you don't consider that they surround themselves with ABSOLUTELY different content. In one way or another, you surround yourself with things that YOU are FAMILIAR with and YOU like, so it seems that your work is like a a re-invented bicycle without any uniqueness. You literally can't please/impress everyone — like, some people are into ideas that are just straight-up messed up. You're not gonna break the law just to impress them, right? And some folks? Only like anime boys. That’s it. Nothing else exists for them. Just anime boys 24/7. They won't like your cartoonish women. Then there’s the chill types who kinda like everything, but only a little. Even if they see something they really respect and like, they’ll just smile and scroll on. That’s just how they are — lowkey, not passionate about anything. Some people don’t like kind-hearted folks. Some people hate jokes. Like, they physically can't enjoy it. And some people hate when there’s no jokes. You could sit someone in front of the greatest comedians on Earth and they’d just throw up. You could show someone a cinematic masterpiece, and they’ll storm off mid-scene, cursing at the screen because it’s not anime. Trying to please everyone is a pointless game. It’s better to connect with people who actually feel your vibe. Even one of those people is worth more than dozens, hundreds even, who don’t get it at all.
