genuinely insane topics ahead

a real sentence i JUST read on ao3 was "BRASE IS NOT INCEST WHEN THEY ARE NOT RELATED."

cue insanely loud incorrect buzzer.

this is a whole essay on how brase and marse (among others I'm assuming) are not incest simply if you put "this is an au :)" in the tags.

the argument is "they never canonically said they're siblings in the show so it's okay to assume they're not."

erm did you watch the show?

head canons are one thing. great. amazing even, love them. but if you're using head canons to "justify" yourself shipping children who are obviously siblings (even if not by blood but are RAISED siblings) and using that basis to write fics where they fall in love or DO THE DIRTY. that is insane. and perverted. and you need to have a good long look in the mirror and rethink everything you've ever done until this point in your life.

it gets genuinely insane too. I've seen the tag Adam/Chase/Donald MORE than once.

not to mention how much smut is in this fandom when they're obviously children (talking to the ones BASED on episodes).

cause smut is fine, write it in the future with characters that like they could actually get with I guess?

but if you're basing it on an episode in season 1 between canonically siblings- that's crazy!

I can't believe I APPLAUDED a person for putting the tag "not incest just sibling love" as if that was an amazing thing for putting two SIBLINGS in the same fic and only using their love for each other in a platonic/familial sense.

having to specify that you're not shipping them because they're siblings is like BELOW THE BARE MINIMUM. it's crazy we even have to be doing that.

erm anyway if you disagree argue with the wall. not my fault I don't believe in wanting to see siblings kiss each other.

another real sentence I've read was "you should thank brase shippers." and "what do you know? maybe Douglas raised them just to breed them later on?"

okay i’m STILL rewatching lab rats and i have a few things to say .

idk if i’ve said these before

‘twas the mission before christmas/the vanishing-

terry perry, while being the meanest, is one of the sweetest characters. like she tries so so hard to be mean because well, she is mean. but sometimes being nice just comes naturally?? what i mean is, in this ep adam bree and chase went on a mission on christmas. that left donald, tasha and leo opening presents by themselves (with a sleeping perry two feet away). leo opens a present which are just socks. lame but alrighty cool (ignore the fact that they were marked by a cat). once leo leaves after perry wakes up, she excitedly asks him if he liked the socks!! yes you could argue someone else got it for him and she was being mean because she knew her cat marked them BUT i choose to believe perry is a good soul at heart. look how sweet she was about it </3

another instance is when she LITERALLY says “i just wanted to make sure you guys were okay” after the events of the vanishing!! she’s so cute!

this one is about the chase and tasha dynamic mostly because ugh i love the mother and son bond those two have omg.

in prank you very much, it’s in the background so it’s easy to not notice, tasha comes in after adam had accidentally rigged bree’s capsule instead of chases and soaked her in expired milk. tasha, rightfully so, gets upset and tells the boys to clean it up. adam starts mocking her and chase literally smacks him lol he just wants to protect his mom he’s so sweet to her.

in forbidden hero, chase tells tasha it was so nice to have a home cooked meal again and was so happy she was there!! (adam shot her down immediately but ignore that.) he loves his mom so much!!

there are definitely way more instances of that but like those were my funnier/favorite ones.

(which also brings me to F ELITE FORCE CHASE. they wrote him in “they grow up so fast” like he hates tasha??? hello?? he loves his mother shut up.)

i’m watching spikes got talent and i realized everyone in the yearbook next to chase are all people who worked on the show 😭 i recognized guy dystads name and i looked everybody else up that’s so cute 😭

Is the Oliver that said “[Spark] listen to me, you’re amazing, you’re beautiful, you’re brave and an incredible hero. You deserve someone who will respect you, not hurt you. You deserve someone who will make you laugh, not cry. You deserve someone who will love you for the treasure you are.” the same Oliver who recorded Skylar without her consent and measured her knees? Who dubs himself the “Mayor of Creepytown?”

I’m gonna yap

I like to call Lab Rats a "stuck sitcom." What I mean by that is how it's filmed. If you've ever paid attention to where the camera sits each scene, it's a handful of the same shots. You get the stereotypical sitcom wide shot- where you see the three walls and the camera sits on the fourth- with the talent in the middle. Occasionally, the camera will sit a little closer to give us a close up of these characters or some over the shoulder shots. It could be fine but to me this show feels very stuck. It feels like you're stuck behind the fourth wall, just watching a show. Which yes you are, but Mighty Med differs in this in a huge way.

Mighty Med likes to experiment with its angles. Some of my favorite examples include the first few episodes of the show. Yes, they use all the same angles I mentioned for Lab Rats- that's a given- every show uses these at one point or another. But Mighty Med has diversity. My favorite bit is the fake photo bit, so you get a fun and silly overhead shot mixed in with these other shots. In the first episode, a UFO falls on Kaz and Oliver, which is the reason they go to the hospital and find Mighty Med. If you go back and look at that scene, the camera moves in such a fun and interesting way! I don't know how to explain it but I do adore that shot. Another example is one they use quite a bit, there's a part in Frighty Med where Horace tells Kaz and Skylar not to open the "Door of Doom" but he needs them to open every door in Mighty Med, and we get met with a montage of them opening every door in this dark and creepy hallway. The camera is handheld for this shot, so it's shaking with them, making it feel like you are there with them! It's a nice offset to the "stuck" shots that are more conventional for them to use.

They got rid of these in Elite Force, making it as stuck as Lab Rats. I feel like it would have benefited from the silliness that Mighty Med had. Not to mention I miss the fake photo bit.

Adam threw some water colour down and added a unicorn, Bree cut out construction paper and made herself the queen of awesome, Chase is a human printer, and Leo is trying his best.

i also put them in their crush chop and burn outfits because I just watched that episode and they're all so baby! :0

there was a spike analysis by someone talking about the versions of the commando app but i don’t remember what it said so i don’t know if anyone has said this before but how come chase can’t remember anything spike does? yet spike always knows what’s going on? (majority of the time).

i think spike sees through chase’s eyes moments before the commando app truly activates. it is supposed to be an app it’s honestly probably always active but the level at which it works and operates is what makes it a glitch?

in commando app, perry is talking about how a trash talker got into her head and made her wipe out, chase answers but moments later when spike actually activates he REFERENCES that.

as well as spike’s got talent, there was a good while of people just laughing at chase for not moving that chair with his mind. spike finally activates and KNOWS that’s what they want to see.

but then there’s episodes like spike fright where he doesn’t know that he lives at his own house, doesn’t know who sabrina was, OR who his own brother was? spike was very off about this. i don’t know.

marcus was lowkey built pretty badly 😭😭 it just shows how much douglas really planned this out.

as soon as we’re introduced to him, he’s so nice to adam and chase. he wants to befriend them so badly but leo shows up and realizes marcus COMPLETELY forgot he existed, even after being lab partners?

marcus’ only objective is to capture adam, bree, and chase. anything else doesn’t matter. then when he’s left alone with leo after band practice he IMMEDIATELY drops the facade.

leo’s not totally off the hook either, there was like no reason for him to be so suspicious of marcus when he first came over. i get he wants to be protective of his siblings but calm down 😭

it’s making me think marcus’ code was like- really bad? like his programming couldn’t decipher whether leo’s suspicious was going to compromise the mission or if he’s just being a little kid. (although, it’s leo, it definitely could’ve compromised his mission and did soooo)

but if marcus was “smart enough” to befriend leo too instead of immediately dropping his facade whenever he was around leo would’ve stopped being so suspicious and marcus and his storyline would’ve lasted longer.

it brings me back to douglas though. it goes to show how little he planned this out, like, he ONLY cared about davenport and the kids. bro did NOT factor in anything else.
