FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY
Using his camera like a paintbrush, Alexanders works with photography, creating very large-scale works that exploit the capture of colour, movement, and distortion, located on the very edges of abstraction.
This photowork is titled BLOODY MARY and pays tribute to the mother of our Messiah and Saviour Jesus Christ.

FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY Using his camera like a paintbrush, Alexanders works with photography, creating very large-scale works that exploit the capture of colour, movement, and distortion, located on the very edges of abstraction. This photowork is titled Power Struggle. On 24 February 2022, Russia launched a large-scale military invasion of Ukraine, one of its neighbours to the southwest, marking an escalation to a conflict that began in 2014. Following Ukraine's Revolution of Dignity in 2014, Russia had annexed Crimea and Russian-backed separatist forces had seized part of the Donbas in eastern Ukraine, leading to an eight-year war in the region. Many reports called the invasion the largest conventional warfare attack in Europe since World War II. But… the Lion of Judah has the last word. “Do not weep. See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered.” Revelation 5:5 This artwork is a limited edition photograph, acrylic mounted archival pigment print, meticulously and lovingly handcrafted in Germany. Turquoise is an opaque, blue-to-green mineral that is a hydrated phosphate of copper and aluminium. It is rare and valuable in finer grades and has been prized as a gemstone and ornamental stone for thousands of years owing to its unique hue. As a gemmologist, it’s among my favourite gemstones because of its enchanting colour. It’s great to use in jewellery and in objets d’art, highly versatile and unisex. PRECIOUS GEMSTONE
Peridot is one of the few gemstones that occur in only one color: an olive-green. The intensity and tint of the green, however, depends on the percentage of iron in the crystal structure, so the color of individual peridot gems can vary from yellow, to olive, to brownish-green. In rare cases, peridot may have a medium-dark toned, pure green with no secondary yellow hue or brown mask. Lighter colored gems are due to lower iron concentrations

ARS SACRA INSPIRATION
he Mystic Marriage of St. Catherine (or Virgin and Child with Saints Catherine of Alexandria and Barbara) is a c. 1480 oil-on-oak painting by the Early Netherlandish painter Hans Memling, now in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
The panel shows an enthroned Virgin holding the Child. St Catherine of Alexandria and St Barbara are seated alongside. Angels playing instruments flank the throne, while the male figure to left is presumably the person who commissioned it as a devotional donor portrait.  Follow me on Instagram @studiodavidalexanders for more inspiration + information, and kindly consider sharing this beauty on your upcoming stories. TOURMALINE
Tourmaline is a crystalline boron silicate mineral compounded with elements such as aluminium, iron, magnesium, sodium, lithium, or potassium. This gemstone can be found in a wide variety of beautiful colors.
Brightly colored Ceylonese gem tourmalines were brought to Europe in great quantities by the Dutch East India Company to satisfy a demand for curiosities and gems.
Tourmaline was sometimes called the "Ceylonese Sri Lankan Magnet" because it could attract and then repel hot ashes due to its pyroelectric properties.
Tourmalines were used by chemists in the 19th century to polarize light by shining rays onto a cut and polished surface of the gem.

THROWBACK
This was the cover photo to a catalogue I created and printed ages ago in Caracas. It launched my career as a designer of luxury products in Europe. My first job was with MONTBLANC where I was responsible for creating their “first-ever” jewellery collections.
