the difference is that Azriel yearns for Elain to be his and Lucien yearns to be Elain's. the difference is that Azriel likes the idea of someone being "for him" and in his mind Elain will have to do and Lucien never wanted to feel this way for someone again but he just can't help it when it comes to Elain.

“And I realized that Elain was the person both Lucien AND I didn’t see coming — there was a great deal of tension, growth, and healing to be found for both of them (together).”
Thank you so much to imlouise_art for this lovely piece! It’s beyond beautiful. 💛

I genuinely NEED elucien’s book to be next because I want Lucien to be Elain’s first choice, not someone she fell back on because Azriel found his own mate.
He deserves to be someone’s first choice. Seriously.

I loveee fantasy settings doing magical exhaustion:
burnt out pyromancers emitting steam and smoke
tired cryomancers shivering with visible foggy breath
weary necromancers looking ill and hearing voices
frazzled healers receiving the same cuts, bruises, and injuries of their patients

Elain: My older sister took the most abuse from my mother to save me
Lucien: Yeah, my brother did the same.
Elain: I lost my first love
Lucien: I did too.
Elain: I want to travel the world
Lucien: I've traveled all my life
Elain: I love to host parties
Lucien: I love to be at parties
Elain: I hate violence
Lucien: I never want to fight in another battle
Elain: I was a daddy's girl
Lucien: I knew your father
Elain: I love to cook and bake
Lucien: I can fish with my bare hands
Elain: I need sunshine
Lucien: I am sunshine

genuine question, but who’s to say that elain wouldn’t have reacted similarly to how she is currently with lucien, if her and azriel were mates? her reasoning for her avoidance of lucien stems from her previously preconceived notions of the fae and the lack of choice when it comes to a mating bond, which can all be applicable to azriel if they were made mates.

What I love about Lucien's gifts to Elain is that it's always been meaningful to her personally. The gardening gloves he gave to her, knowing that she loves to garden. It's also been said that Elain wears gardening gloves. Lucien gives her these gloves to protect her while doing the things she loves to do. It's extremely thoughtful, even adding the special enchantment so she wouldn't injur herself.
Then the pearls he gifts her! Pearls being a symbol of romance and loyalty, a gift given to lovers.

The symbolic meaning of pearls being tied with wisdom, devotion, elegance, growth, these are all things Elain embodies, and Lucien, being her mate, gifts her these items that exemplifies love, devotion. And care to details. It is also very interesting that we see Elain shortly after wearing pearls in her hair.
This in juxtaposition to Azriel's gift of a rose to Elain. We've seen twice where roses have caused her pain, 1 physically where she's cut by a stubborn rosebush that Feyre mentions would not have happened had she been wearing the gloves Lucien gave her, and the second time with Azriel. Elain is hurt enough that she physically rejects him and his gift setting it amongst the pile of gifts. It's interesting that roses have been the symbol of pain twice for her in one book.
Even if Elain has been avoiding Lucien, a thing we've seen all the sisters do with their mates, she has never rejected his gifts, never rejected him. Perhaps it's that Lucien knows Elain too well, and his gifts to her are so spot on that it scares her, but that's the pinnacle of these romance books, having someone know you deeper than you might even know yourself. A true soulmate!

Lucien’s reputation follows him throughout the courts of Prythian, but according to @cauldronblssd , @velidewrites and myself, there’s no reputation more important than being hot as fuck. For Day 6: Reputation of @lucienweekofficial , we’d asked the talented @/kowc0a_ to make those thighs THICK and they’ve had us screaming since the very first sketch.
Thank you @/kowc0a_ for making our vision of Day Court Lucien come to life so beautifully! The sheer amount of details in this piece have us INSANE — just look at the fire wrapped around his arms? His tiny little skirt? The anklets? His reputation really does precede him and all we really want is just ONE chance. Just one. Or two. Maybe three?

I find it amusing that Lucien, the fox of Prythian, the emissary, the rake, the - If I offer you the moon on a string will you give me a kiss, too? - flirt, is rendered completely awkward and tense and almost incapable of putting together a good sentence in front of his lovely mate.
Some people could say this means there's no chemistry between them, but what I think is, if the-always-composed male has a brain malfunction in front of a girl, it means he's fucked. He found THE ONE.

Friendly reminder that it was Elain waiting for Lucien at the library, and Feyre has never heard Lucien’s voice so soft, tentative, and concerned as he spoke to her.
Friendly reminder that Lucien couldn’t breathe at how beautiful Elain was when he finally took in her face, and how she said his name back to him, shuddering at the sound of it.
Friendly reminder that Elain showed life during her first conversation with Lucien and spoke about something more than just riddles and wanting to go home.
