jim knows that he's so very l u c k y to be back in human body. he thanks the fates often for what they had in store for him. he made his choice knowing that it was a death of himself - and claire brings him back.

he's normal again - though the time as a half-troll and the beast are always nightmares he'll live.

"hey,  aja  -  you  know."  he  coughs,  glances  to  the  side.  how  could  the  words  always  spring  forward  to  his  tongue  around  claire  -  before  things  just...  he  shakes  his  head.  "you know,  right?"  good  job,  lake.  tell  the  akaridion  queen  what  you  mean.  or  not.

jim  holds  his  breath  as  the  other  admits  that  yes.  he's  happy.  he's  happy  with  how  the  cards  folded,  or  at  least  as  happy  as  possible  given  the  situation.  and  here  he  is  wishing  that  the  world  would  simply  give  him  a  damn  break.  but  maybe  the  other  version  of  him  is  also  wishing  that.

  "do  you  think  something  else  is  headed  your  way?"  jim's  voice  cracks  just  slightly.  he  wonders  how  the  onyx  shard  will  react,  likely  the  same  way,  cleaving  him  apart  to  human  and  troll,  taking  the  troll  part  to  further  distort  his  body  -  shoving  what's  left  of  him  into  the  shadow  realm  to  walk  again  and  again  in  his  lonely  solitude.  he  knows  it's  ridiculous  to  only  ask  himself  questions,  but  what  could  you  do,  huh?

the voice is familiar. too familiar. jim doesn't think too much about answering the question. the only downside is that he's still kinda... stuck in the eclipse armour, but he feels like the true peeling of armour off and taking a much deserved bath as they settle the trolls in the new market.

the odd sensation of being watched did not go away as he kept an eye out. maybe the feeling of him running is the reason that eclipse has not let him go. at least not while he's not in the safety of numbers amongst his stone-skinned kinsmen.

he doesn't expect to see himself. let alone human. let alone asking him a question looking like he'd seen a whole other hell. the scar across the human face... he brushes it off. were his legs always that skinny?

"with everything that's happened - gunmar, morgana... yeah? though... i have the feeling doom is about to get us again, huh?" he taps his right hand against his armoured belly. at least eclipse had the decency to give him protection over his fingertips now. "there's a new home for the trolls here in new jersey, and i'm their protector. i just hope that daylight returns soon, to give them the beacon of hope back." he admits to the only person who would truly know.

jim  watches  with  bated  breath,  holding  it.  it's  odd  to  see  how  he  moved,  blinked.  staring  from  the  outside  in,  seeing  someone  else  share  the  face  you've  only  seen  reversed  in  distorted  reflections  for  too  long  -  avoiding  the  way  you  looked  because  you  were  afraid  of  what  monster  you'd  become  -  and  he  knows  that  this  isn't  a  changeling,  this  isn't  someone  copying  his  appearance.

  it's  not  exactly  the  outcome  he  wanted,  the  outcome  in  mind.  yes,  he  wanted  toby  alive,  but  at  the  same  time  -  staring  at  himself  days  before  making  the  biggest  mistake  of  patrolling  alone,  fleeing  from  the  green  knight...  before  the  shard  in  his  chest  takes  his  life.

  jim  has  seen  what  two  of  merlin's  amulets  do  when  they're  in  the  same  space,  but  the  difference  between  the  trollhunters  is  that  the  one  in  front  of  him  is  still  half-troll,  and  he  feels  sick.  he  knows  the  fate  that  becomes  of  himself.  that,  and  the  akaridion  amulet  in  his  pocket  -  burning  and  burning.

  "hey,  are  you  happy?"  he  quietly  asks.  he  doesn't  know  if  he's  double-backed  on  his  own  timeline,  where  he  wasn't,  or  if  this  is  a  different  timeline  where  he  doesn't  remember,  that  he's  reset  things  before  and  he  is  happy  with  his  situation.
