SELF PORTRAIT.
(pt: self portrait)
IT IS DIFFICULT TO PERCEIVE MYSELF, OUR SYSTEM DOES NOT VISUALIZE OUR HEADSPACE IN DETAIL. OFTEN, WE DISCOVER DETAILS OVER TIME. WE ALREADY KNEW MY FACE GROWS WOOL THAT MIMICS HAIR, AND I HAVE NUMEROUS EYES -- BUT LAST NIGHT WE DISCOVERED I HAVE HORNS, EXTRA WOOL GROWING AT THE FRONT OF MY NECK, AND A MOUTH CONCEALED UNDER THE CHIN. IT IS SATISFYING TO HAVE A CLEARER IMAGE OF MYSELF.

You know, an interesting tumblr transformation that's happened gradually, and which I've seen no one talk about: ask-culture has essentially dropped off to nothing.
By which I mean, asks used to be WAY more of the tumblr economy. They used to be more common to send, and receive, and see. They were integral to the collaborative, forum-like behavior of old tumblr communities, not even to speak on the HUGE number of ask-blogs that used to exist to only be interacted with in ask-form.
I'm not saying this in a vying-for-attention way but instead in an observational way: I used to get way way more asks in like 2015, even with a fraction of my follower count. I wonder if it's due to the homogenization of social media sites? There's a lot more of this divide between "content creator" and "consumer" instead of just a bunch of peer blogs who would talk to each other. "Asks" aren't really a thing on twitter, are they? And as I understand it, the closest thing to an "ask" on instagram or tiktok would be a creator screenshotting some comment and responding to it in a new reel or video or whatever those content mediums are. Are asks just too tumblr-specific? Is that aspect of the site culture dying out as more and more people converge to using all their social media sites in the same way?

I've said this before, but I don't personally believe that divinity abides by the human societal concepts of gender. I've gotten hate asks for this opinion in the past, and it's honestly just sad to see that some people are so intolerant of the fact that other opinions about divinity exist outside of their own, but I digress. I don't feel gender is a thing that gods are probably all that concerned about. I can't speak for them, obviously, but based on my own experiences, I firmly believe that the gods present themselves in a multitude of ways to worshippers all over the world. Sometimes a deity can be one gender, the next day they can be another. It's ultimately up to the gods how they choose to present themselves, and if that opinion bothers you, I encourage you to dig deeper into yourself to discover why.

A platonic love letter to Alterhuman / Nonhuman community:
A special thanks to my dear friend @cytochrome-sea
Hey tumblr. Its been a while. Ive been busy with stuff outside Tumblr. But I wanted to say something.
To the lovely Therians, Otherkin, fictionkin, conceptkin exct on this site:
You are loved, and Im so grateful for our lovely community /gen.

Special anecdote. Just Be warned TW: Vague mentions of trauma and ab/use - meant to be used emphasize the good the community has done in contrast.
As someone who grew up in a long term situation where my identity wasnt allowed to staylong enough to remember, often only a name - when I finally had a moment to ask myself about myself. It was blank. I grew up where all I knew was that was bad. Evil. Undomesticated. Because I wasnt what my elders wanted. So I clung to things that felt like me. Things that werent human.
Werewolves, demons, concepts, fallen angels, exct.
They felt like me when nothing else did. And when I found this community I was scared. And despite it not being perfect you all lovely creatures have shown me such beautiful kindness, patience, acceptance. That i didnt have to act human to feel worthy of love. That even if I may never be domesticated, that there will always be other wild things. That I was never truly alone.
So thank you.

how tiktok otherkins look at you when you tell them you actually believe you are not spritually human and that you are a guardian angel reborn onto earth to protect those who need protection and that you were destined to keep your loved ones safe from evil and when you die it means that you've fufilled your duties as a guardian angel and not just "i know i'm a human i just do this because i enjoy it!"

My partner's friend's little sister is a therian, and whenever their friend has had a concern or question, they've come to me, which I deeply appreciate. I don't really know much about this kid other than she's a wolf and a tween and she's been brave enough to tell her whole family about therianthropy.
Today, at the local pride parade, there were a couple therian kids (I assume, with the masks and tails) running around, and I got to thinking about the little sister. Turns out her parents are considering enrolling her in a special ed class at a Waldorf school, where about half the students are therians and the teachers are supportive of therianthropy.
We live in a time where there are therian classrooms with supportive teachers. I broke down crying in the middle of the parade when my partner told me. Fuck dude, I'm tearing up all over again writing this. There are therian kids growing up right now, being open about their therianthropy and meeting support and acceptance from teachers and peers and parents and siblings, and being in a class surrounded by half a dozen other therians of their own age.
I never could've even imagined something like this when I was a 13 year old baby therian.
