Out doing my part today! Protest signs I illustrated to raise awareness of the rising prices of insulin and how it is becoming unaffordable to diabetics who need it in order to live while companies make exorbitant profits.
Check out KOI#Insulin4all at Twitter and T1 International for more information and help support!
The press conference starts soon!

Real Conversations with a Diabetic
Mrs. Dorothy Campbell, Grandmother of Benton Harbor, Michigan
Age - 70+
Diabetic - Over 30 Years
Prescribed Insulin over nearly 20 years ago
As I stated before some of my family including my grandmother depend on this medication to live. I asked my grandmother some questions over the phone in which she lives in the state of Michigan. I wanted to take into account a real person’s experience with this medication.
Me:Is your insulin covered by a medical plan?
Her: My medication is totally covered by (Edna insurance, medicare and Medicaid)
Me: Have you ever heard of people dying from the being unable to afford Insulin?
Her: No. But I do know some people aren’t at the age to have health insurance such as medicare or medicaid to help cover the costs so I can only imagine how many do not receive their medication
Me: How do you qualify for medicare? -
Her: You have to be 65 or older or if you receive disability
Me: What about Medicaid?
Her: You qualify by your income.
Me: Since you are covered, how much do you think insulin is without the coverage?
Her: I’m not exactly sure but I know it is hundreds of dollars, very high priced.
Me: How many years have you used insulin?
Her: Almost 20 years, began in the late 90s
Me: How many times a day do you use Insulin?
Her: Once. 56 units at night, but if broken up in half I would have to take it twice a day
Me: What would happen if you didn't take it your insulin daily?
Her: My sugar levels would escalate tremendously, and I would possibly enter into a coma or worse
