here are two of my current difficulties. the first is personal. i listened to a lecture by salman rushdie recently where he said that many things are too horrific for people to understand directly, and so sometimes address it obliquely or indirectly can actually end up conveying the magnitude of the reality more effectively than you might have if you described it bluntly. in other words some things are too horrific to look at face-on. it's why books and character profiles and poetry are more effective and more mobilizing than raw data. its the function of narrative. my own problem is that i don't know if i have the ability to do so right now. which is pretty embarrassing, because it's more or less my job. like yesterday i watched a video of a palestinian man cradling his child's head. just her head. how do you address this indirectly? i know all the arguments for and against videos like this. but also that man had to cradle his daughter's head and people had to be there and film it, in a room full of dead kids. that was someone's real life. this happened two days ago, and it could be people i know this is happening to next. it could be my friends. attempting to address this indirectly feels like an impossible task. they create a reality too awful to endure, and then they demand that we reduce it so that the onlookers can endure the experience of knowing about it.
but the debate of whether or not to share videos like that, the humanizing vs dehumanizing aspects of it and so on, brings me to my second problem, which is impersonal. it's that even if i share it most people won't see it. because of algorithms that are paid for by the same people who beheaded that man's child, because of compassion fatigue, and also because of fear that solidarity with palestinians is going to result in real-life consequences. things that have been there before, but are even more present now.
these two difficulties are not insurmountable to me. i can get better at describing things, at demanding your attention. we can find things to look at that don't overload our brains or our hearts, the oblique view that will bring everything else into focus. and in doing so we can navigate the second obstacle, which is everything that prevents your attention and your compassion. the 'you' implied here is the you reading this post, but it is also everyone who is not in that video, really. it's also myself.

I'm visiting some dear friends of mine this week, and all of us have at least one disability. While we were eating breakfast this morning we were discussing the impact medication has on our lives.
I was sharing how difficult everything was for me when I had moved to a new city where the cost of housing was much more expensive and I couldn't afford medication. Over the course of the year, my energy deteriorated rapidly. First I couldn't keep up with my job, then I couldn't keep up with housework, then I couldn't keep up with basic hygiene, and eventually even chewing and swallowing became difficult. Sometimes walking to the train, I thought about lying down on the side of the road and how long it would take before a cop would force me to move. I wanted to die but I didn't even have the energy to figure out how.
My friend asked me if I had chronic fatigue. I don't know, because I was never diagnosed. I don't claim it because right now I'm very functional. I can keep up with hygiene, cook, clean, do work, and even exercise! But this is only possible from the combination of four different medications. Right now, I am extremely fortunate in that I have much of my medical expenses covered by my wife's health insurance that she has through work. I pay $415 USD every month for these things I need. I can never take this for granted because I know so vividly how difficult it is to survive without them.

They should've stopped after two sentences lmfao... Instead they went the typical US American route of "we're poor little babies who don't know anything and aren't capable of thought 🥺🥺🥺🥺". Also can we stop pretending the suicides of us military personnel aren't funny

my boyfriend just explained it to me saying kill yourself to tumblrinas doesnt work because they are not the type of people who want to improve the world and do the world a service. if they were interested in improving the world they would see the value in their deaths and commit suicide but they have no sense of the bigger picture. its so clear to me now. i will still suggest it to fandom brain freaks as a great community service they can do
i hate you fandom brain retarded racist tumblr freaks. i just hate you all so much. half the people who use this site could drop dead right now and nothing is lost

For the Palestinian Gaza survivors that come to my DMs, message me the link to your gofundme’s, survival kits, or your PayPal or anything, and I’ll share.
I am no longer interested in vetting or you being backed by someone vetting you. If it’s a scam, I don’t care. Not my problem but the scammer’s fault. I’m over trying to play it safe and do genocide respectability politics for people experiencing the worst crime imaginable.
Just message me the link, Have your post on your page and I’ll share, or whatever. Contrary to what some people think, I don’t have a lot of social media presence here on tumblr.

Fanon was talking about Nazism the book was written in 1952 when antisemitism was founded in material reality in European and western societies. That is no longer the case and the black struggle is not related to Israeli colonialism in any way shape or form even if you get some dumbass self hating coons to jump around and say it is. It's laughably easy to find example of the baby starvers trying to pretend they care about or understand black struggles in America or any where else in the world in an attempt to manipulate support from the black community truly every attempt look so laughably fucking stupid. There a reason this only works on fandom brained freaks who think politics are just like TV shows and i dont know why Israeli hasbara focuses on this sorts in the slightest because they're loud but politically useless and mentally and morally weak and pathetic
if youre black and get online and say shit like that you need to go slit your wrists now and remember no one on the planet will miss you in any way shape or form. youre a disgrace to every ancestor youve ever had and youre worth less than filthy rag. coon scum like yall are the exact reason people outside the imperial core hate black americans and theyre absolutely right and you should kill yourself

This user is a Nazi and a Zionist which is obvious because only Nazis and Zionists would come out saying or suggesting voting for the white supremacist rapist and child sex criminal Joe Biden who initiated and spread false propaganda for Israel to fabricate the Palestinian genocide is an act of good will. In the next few days an estimated hundred of thousands Gazans will die simultaneously of mass hunger and the people in these notes are outright saying that it is the duty of the average American to vote for Palestinian genocide to op's and other's benefit. These are Nazis and horribly enough these Nazis are the norm and the standard in America. It's time to recognize that American society, American politicians, and the average American are people to be oppose, unfortunately with force. Americans feel emboldened to express their love and deesire to see non white people suffer, die, starve, and face rape, torture, and abuse as group punishment and they expect no consequencss for expressing these views. If we want a just world we must create consequences for the Nazis who openly express views like this. It's possible to create that better world but to do so we must recognize who our enemies are. Start with the people who are openly saying they would gladly trade the lives of Palestinians for access to a comfortable life in the imperial core and demand other imperial core citizens do the same for their comfort
Until people see voting as their highest civic duty to their community and not as a reward/punishment program for politicians, we're going to be in this cycle forever.

She is in need of aid, and prices are EXTREMELY HIGH to afford.
@ayosh-gaza0011, she is in desperate need, PLEASE IF YOU CAN, DONATE, EVEN A SMALL AMOUNT CAN HELP, AND IF YOU CAN'T (LIKE ME) AT LEAST TRY TO CONTRIBUTE BY SHARING AROUND BECAUSE STAYING SILENT IS NOT A NICE MOVE, IT'S JUST SHALLOW.
Thank you.

How are we living now?
We’re living counting bombs instead of days. 💣
We drink dirty water because there’s nothing else. 💧
We watch our children grow hungry and no one cares. 🍞
We sleep not knowing if we’ll wake up to our home or to rubble. 🏚️
We live with no electricity, no safety, nothing but the sound of drones above.
We’re alive by force… but deep inside, our spirit whispers: We’re still standing.
Pray for Gaza, talk about Gaza — we are not numbers, we are souls still bleeding. ❤️‍🩹

Sami was hiding his last two pieces of bread.
He tucked them away carefully, as if guarding a precious treasure—because hunger shows no mercy, and nothing fills the emptiness but patience. Each crumb mattered. Each bite was a delay in surrendering to the silence of starvation.
His eyes were heavy with exhaustion, and his stomach ached with hunger.
Still, his heart was calm—at least he had two pieces of bread left. In a place where meals have become memories, two slices were enough to keep a glimmer of hope alive.
Suddenly, a weak cat jumped through the window.
It snatched the bread he had hidden and devoured it quickly. It was his own cat, frail and starving, now on the verge of death from hunger. Sami stood frozen—not from anger, but from the bitter truth that even animals are now desperate for food.
When bread becomes a prize, you know famine has reached an unimaginable level.
Please help Sami with a donation—so he can buy food to save his children, his family, and even the starving cat who stole his last meal out of sheer desperation.

[ID: A series of tweets from Khadija Haynes.
The first reads: I say theory is crucial, not as a learned person, but as someone who didn't finish their degree; as someone who did hair for a living and my boss would yell when I would try to sneak read Capital at work. I'm just a regular Flatbush girl who understands the life-force of theory.
The second reads: So, when folks affirm, "People don't want to hear about theory" this upsets me honestly, because I was the girl fixing lacewigs at the salon desperate to learn + grasp what Marx, Lenin, and Stalin were saying. Don't ever overlook people and assume they don't want to learn theory
End ID.]
