there's a speaker in our auditorium that's broken because the baritones were playing baseball during a rehearsal. it's been that way since 2022 and it hasn't been fixed yet

not my school (thank god) but we're in the same district so I've seen them a couple of times. last year they did an america themed show with a loooot of patriotism flavoring. they sampled this is america by donald glover, which is pretty weird for a pro-america show. However the worst of all was that they had props with images of 9/11. Me and my band friends still make fun of that show

My band director was in Crown 2012. In my freshman year some of the upperclassmen would just randomly shout "THE CUBE!!!!!!" and I was always confused until I watched that show. So yeah that's why some of my band peers were obsessed with 3D shapes, because my teacher was in a show with 3D shapes. His age out year was 2013 (really cool) so the shape obsession is really deep

this is more of a fun fact than a confession, but my mom's friend (whom she marched with in Troopers a few decades ago) bought the oil derrick from the vorAcious show. it's in her backyard and she and her husband routinely dress it up for different holidays.

as a regular band kid I find marching band kids fucking terrifying. You can carry that shit and play??? WHILE MARCHING???? Man I can barely carry a fuckin trombone case wtf

I'm conflicted when it comes to "fun" things in shows. On one hand yeah it's annoying when there's props that don't do anything and uniforms that look silly. On the other you have to admit that a keytar or cello solo is objectively awesome

My band director keeps pointing out how i keep wearing corps shirts. I genuinely don't know if he's doing it in jest or he's actually curious. "Hey where'd you get that? That's a really old design" Bro... at the band competition where we won and there was a huge Crown booth thats clearly marked 💔🥀

I find it extremely funny that some corps will just sell their uniforms to the general public. Not just recycling their things for high school bands, like you can buy a uniform like any other merch. For just $200 you too can have stolen valor /j

being a dci fan is so funny like wdym people will send videos that look like theyre older than jesus with the recording quality of a 3DS and say "are you hearing this brass feature" and it sounds like a 10 year old screaming into their controller microphone and youre still like "fuck yeah im adding that to my playlist" and then you add it to your playlist

Video game music should be used in shows more, there's a lot of amazing soundtracks that would sound great on the field. I know video game OSTs aren't new in DCI but I want MORE damn it

I've seen two DCI centric fics, at least on AO3. Like, the characters are actively in a corps. However one was for a fandom I'm not in and the other one had smut. Sorry if I sound like a puritan but it's just not my thing :/
