OHHHH INSPIRED BY THE WRITING ON THE DASH! Doe, while having a very overproducted, hair-salon and perfume department sort of smell to her in the fashion of the times. Also has a clinging, unshakeable aroma of earth and nature.

It’s inexplicable, really. The clinging aroma of leaf rot, humidity, dirt and pine. And sort of a head scratcher… until you see Doe in a more dead, ghostly form. Matted and sun bleached hair caked in dirt and leaves, roots clinging to her skull and snaking through vacant eye sockets and moss overtaking what’s left of the clothes she was killed in.

It’s Sunday and I have to say Doe’s huge lion’s mane of 80s curled perm goodness is the perfect handle bars for loving. She encourages it! Hold onto her hair!! And know, deep in your heart of hearts, what she comes up to you and her hair is BRAIDED? She’s done that for even more ease of gripping! It’s a subby Sunday, lads!

Very late and I’m very sleepy but I gotta say! I find it fascinating the repeated overlaps between Doe’s character and vibing with westerns as a genre! The Cotton-Eye Doe phenomenon returns!

But on that note I’m currently OBSESSED with the Doe vibes around these lyrics in particular and how much they reflect Doe and her general attitude:

Vampire Bat activity of elaborate and extensive grooming before exchanging blood in kisses to deepen social bonds and/or feeding from each other has a duel-purpose for Vampires, cause the practice of exchanging the foreign and genetically different blood and introducing it in amounts to their body over a period of time not only generates a blood connection between the Vampires in question but it can gradually be used to introduce mutations and changes in the recieving vampires.

For example: after Mapplethorpe and Doe reconcile and they work on reforming the blood connection, Mapplethorpe's lower canines and upper pre-molars gradually become more pronounced and tusk-like, similar (but much small than) Doe's! His tongue is a bit longer too! And his nails in his fingers and weird-ass bat feet become far denser and harder rather than box cutter like! It goes both ways though! Doe faces her own changes after getting Mape's blood (and Max's line) reintroduced to her, though frankly they're minimal and largely impact (aid) her poor ability to fly and the curve of her claws growing in!

My thoughts are that when a vampire transitions from being a newly-converted full vampire to a head vampire: whether due to the death of their sire or head, needing to find a new roost because the current one is overpacked, or any number of reasons to those effects. The newly fledged vampire will have a 'nuptial flight,' and undergo a physically demanding process of genetic mutations.

This with the intention of: forcing genetic diversity as two vampire lines are forcefully diverged for survival's sakes, to fill ecological niches formed in the environment of that vampire strain and to sort of tempt/draw genetic intermingling in vampire bloodlines and draw the normally isolated groups of vampires into being more involved and intermingled (even if by teasing and dangling badass traits in front of their face and going 'do you want it?? Well, you're gonna have to intermingle and swap blood for that, go form social bonds!!

IT SHOULD BE MENTIONED THOUGH, while Doe (in many verses) HAS undergone her forced nuptial flight to separate from her Sire and Head Vampire and HAS become a Head Vampire.

Doe is a Virgin Head, or a Would-Be-Full Head Vampire that has virtually no one transformed or recruited under her (as a familiar,) which is the final step necessary for full maturation and the final, solidifying changes of becoming a Head Vampire!

(these are, in a sense another round of physical mutations that would allow for the sort of NIGHTMARE TRANSFORMATION we see Max undergo when facing off against Michael in the book, but also the awakening of far more powerful arcane capabilities, including the ability to consume souls and conjuring hell hounds)

Going straight to nature, I do largely imagine that the differences between a Full Head Vampire (or mated vampire if you want to use bee terms, but I don't particularly like that phrasing ASDJASD) and a Virgin Head Vampire can be summed up by the differences exhibited and shown in bees! Virgin Queen Bees are slimmer and smaller, typically faster and lither and fully prepared to fly around (for those first breeding flights) but Mated Queen Bees are far, far less mobile. Big and rounded and mostly sedentary, given the egg laying, but always surrounded by worker bees feeding, moving larvae and caring for them. It's the same with vampires!

A Virgin Host is primed like a cocked gun, quick and nimble, (even when their mutations don't lend themselves to speed or flight), biologically, they're producing a TON of blood, or royal jelly (for comparison) to transform other humans into the lackeys. This is because, in terms of how vampire's work, it's expected that the next logical step for a vampire is to convert underlings to offload the brunt of the effort onto: allowing them to deal with capturing and sourcing food, protecting their head, forming the labor aspects of their daily lives to the head in question to set in the metaphorical roots and allow them to put the focus off of hunting and battle-readiness, and more the hell-based, spiritual and magical aspects of vampirism and on the logistics of running their coven!

I hope I'm making sense wording things ASASHDASHDSAHD I'm just !!!! BAT INSECT CREATURES MY BELOVED!

We all know Nursey HATES being called Sally, but the equivalents of her nickname for some of my other muses are:

Trapper are anything overly cutesy or romantic without prior friendliness (if you come out just calling him love or sugar, he will not be happy), Van or anything to do with his middle names! Evan says, call me Trapper or MacMillan until I start getting attached to you and start loathing hearing you call me by the names that represent the worst parts of myself and yearn to hear you calling me by a name that represents a part of me that's long been silenced for safety!

Or with Doe, calling her Jane, John or Jock (in reference to her being officially titled Jane Doe in absentia of information pertaining to a real identity) OR WORSE, CALLING HER DOE-Y. Only Mapplethorpe is powerful enough to call Doe Doe-y and live to tell the tale. She HATES it. She wants to personally throw hands with the first person who started calling her that!

PSSSSST: one of the easiest ways to break Doe’s heart is to have your muse avoid sharing any of their pain, burdens or struggles because they view her as ‘burdened enough’ or inherently too broken to care about her partners in that way!

You can pinpoint the moment Doe’s heart BREAKS when she learns about her partners sorrows from third parties outside of her (should be) trusting romantic relationship, and the fact they weren’t comfortable/willing to tell her because she’s been through what she has!

*it is important to disclose, this kind of grief will manifest as anger in Doe. She’s gonna yell about this then give the coldest shoulder as she works through how FURIOUS she is in silence
