my partner is not a medical professional, so they tend to have expectations for the US Healthcare system that at first seem hopelessly naive and unrealistically optimistic to me.

only after I stop and think about it do I realize, no, actually these expectations are completely reasonable. appointments should not have a weeks/months-long wait list. doctors should treat patients with respect by default. mental health care should be easier to access, and it should not cost several hundreds of dollars per session. insurance should just... cover care?
