I wish the show had done more with Crystals name, her name is Crystal Palace, they could have first shown her at Crystal Palace park or station or stadium or something, people could have been confused and gone “like the football team?” She could have broken a window at the Crystal Palace in one of her memories

Oh my god some of you are ridiculous. You are expected to tag your shit correctly. I am expected to not read things that upset me. If you are not tagging correctly, and I am being subjected to things that squick (or in rare cases trigger me) I am left with no other choice but to block because you are not upholding your end of the deal. There’s not really another way around it. I’m sorry some of you are too concerned with how aesthetic your tag list looks or don’t want to think about what tags apply to your work. I’m just tired of seeing things I didn’t sign up for, and if I know you repeatedly tag poorly and your work upsets me then I don’t really care if you’re upset that I blocked you. Sorry. I just don’t think blocking is that big a deal.

Tagging a ship that's mentioned for like half a page sucks, speaking as someone who usually ships "pair the spares" or rarepairs. It makes anything but the Main Otp Everyone Talks About impossible to find no matter what pairing you look up. At least tag it "minor (pairing)" instead so the rest of us can filter for what we came for

Alright, here’s a tagging PSA:

A way to warn people about a fic having a pairing but not flooding the relationship tag with irrelevant fic is to tag the relationship in the Additional Tags section.

In my experience this is the best compromise. If people don’t read all the tags and miss it that’s on them.

Also, the Muting function on AO3 exists if you just don’t want to see someone’s fics in search results. It’s much less dramatic than Blocking. When you Block someone, they won’t be able to comment on your fics (and if they ever try, they will know you blocked them which does hurt people’s feelings especially if they don’t know you and have no idea why).

I literally can't stop writing Edwin as being genuinely interested in all three of his love interests in every fic I write. Doesn't matter what ship I'm trying to write that boy insists on being low-key boy crazy. Fucking tck? There's a tidbit about his attachment to Charles. Mutually pining with Charles? It's mentioned he's making an effort to connect with Monty properly with Esther gone. Cutesy fluff tropes with Monty? He's randomly struck with Lust Flashbacks about tck. He is my Lucy Westenra

Kind of funny how buttoned up a lot (not all) of the fanbase is about like any kind of sex given this show is honestly breathtakingly horny. Like yeah nobody fucks on screen but every single character seems to be operating on permanent half chub. There's literally a scene with a room full of people wriggling around naked in a giant pile. Half of Edwin's character arc is being horny

Tagging side ships and not creating a wall of useless tags are not necessarily mutually exclusive

It's just about having common sense I guess. If I just mention a ship in my fic or it's very minor, I won't tag it. But if it holds some kind of relevance, then yeah, I think people should know about it. I understand it makes it harder to find fics where that ship is the main one, but it's impossible to both warn and not warn at the same time.

What I do think is helpful is the order in which the ships or characters are tagged. I feel it usually shows their relevance decreasingly: authors will most likely tag payneland first and catwin second for example if payneland is more important or endgame.
