I like to pretend Nishida wasn’t even a Yakuza or anything, he was just a taxi driver who happened to have Majima as a customer one day and everything just went downhill from there.
honestly maybe i’m over-thinking this, but this is probably one of my favorite heat moves in the whole game? like, not because of how it looks or the style of it but like mainly because of Majima himself. one thing this game does really well is showing Kiryu and Majima’s characters through their fighting styles. Kiryu’s basic brawler style is much more brutal and less refined than in the later games because he’s young and inexperienced, but almost every single one of Majima’s attacks in his thug style is precise and skillful.
and then there’s this one.
like Majima’s whole thing in the story is about him going over the edge and turning into who he is in the later games, and while for most of the game that side of him is covered up because he doesn’t have a choice and is always under control of Sagawa, it’s always there, but it only starts to come out near the end of the game (and here). just the way he stumbles carelessly over before locking the guy down and beating the fuck out of him, it’s way more vicious than Kiryu’s version of the same move even though Majima’s supposed to be the more skillful fighter.
when your boss is very strong but also very aggressive and lacking of any self preservation insticts, then you gotta go pick up his beaten up ass from time to time.
