“Let’s talk about rape for a moment. Rape is not what George Lucas did to your childhood. Rape is not what happens when a sports team beats another sports team by a wide margin. Rape is not what happens when your electric bill is higher this month than it was last month. Rape is when a person violates another person in the most despicable, degrading way imaginable and among the myriad of terrible things humans can do to one another, rape is among the worst. I think the casual misappropriation of the concept of rape extending all the way to its widespread comical usage is disgusting even by Internet standards. Off my chest.”

I don’t know who to credit because my coworker posted this on my wall after we happened upon the Beyonce album at work. But, yeah. Squirrels.

Young Winston Churchill
Less than ten years later he looked like this. Love your youthful good looks while you still have them, gentlemen.
Adam, add this one to your collection (even though he wasn't a dictator).

It is my penultimate night in London!
To celebrate, I might end up sitting at a pub by myself, since no one has confirmed that they're coming to the 'let's all have drinks before you leave' shindig that they told me I must have.
Yay!
Edit: Two, count 'em, two!!

I have a girlfriend who says that every woman needs a wife. That’s how important it is to have other females in your life. That’s what we wanted to talk about.
Maya Rudolph on Bridesmaids.
Saw this with my BFF today. Besides loving the movie for its own sake (and the smart, gender-irrelevant humor of Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph and Melissa McCarthy), I sincerely appreciated it for reminding me how damn fortunate I am to have this best friend and so many other remarkable female compatriots with whom to ebb and flow in our various states of success and growth and pause and challenge and flourish and flounder. Take yesterday when I fell down the stairs in front of an ex’s family, for example! How much worse would my humiliation have been if I didn’t have a room of cackling girlfriends to relay the tale to later over wine? So. much. worse.
