I visited the 12 Apostles in 2015. I can’t wait to go back.

Travel changes you. As you move through this life and this world you change things slightly, you leave marks behind, however small. And in return, life- and travel- leave marks on you.

If relaxing getaways and scenic views are your thing, then Tasmania should definitely be your next holiday destination. I’ve compiled a list of my favourite Tasmania attractions to share with you.
1.Mount Wellington
Mount Wellington is a great place to get incredible views of Hobart. Driving along the winding roads to the summit can be a bit strenuous. However the break-taking views from the top make it all worth while. Ensure to take a jacket because it’s freezing, even in the summer. My first visit to Mount Wellington was on a cloudy day and I couldn’t see a thing. So I recommend going on a clear day for the best experience. Also, there are no entry fees!

2. Zoodoo Wildlife Park
In Richmond, Tasmania you’ll find Zoodoo Wildlife Park. I’ve visited a few zoos in Australia and Zoodoo Wildlife Park is one of my favourites. Although it is smaller than other zoos I’ve seen, it is packed with plenty of value. My favourite thing about this zoo is that it allows you to get up close and personal with many of its animals at no extra cost. Tickets for adults are $28 each, which is quite cheap in comparison to some other Australian zoos. The entry fee includes a safari bus tour which allows visitors to hand feed animals such as camels, ostriches and Zebras. You can also feed a lion and pat a reptile. There are some paid encounters as well. My girlfriend and I paid for a meerkat encounter which allowed us to sit in their pen and feed them. Who doesn’t love meerkats?

3. The Bay of Fires
The Bay of Fires extends along the northeastern coast of Tasmania, from Bingalong Bay to Eddystone Point. The clear waters and clean white sand make these beaches a great place to enjoy a swim or a nice walk. But what distinguishes these beaches the most are the famous orange lichen covered granite boulders. It’s a great place to get your Instagram on!

4. Port Arthur Historic Site
A trip to Tasmania wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Port Arthur. Explore the historical landmarks, discover the stories behind them and become immersed in Australia’s colonial history. Port Arhtur extends over more than 40 hectares of land. So wear comfortable footwear and prepare yourself for a lot of walking. Port Arthur cannot be thoroughly explored in one day. So it would be best to spend at least two days there. I recommend taking the ghost tour because walking around Port Arthur in the night time feels like a whole different experience. Even if you don’t believe in ghosts, the stories told by the tour guides could be enough to send tingles down your spine. (Below is an image of the Penitentiary)

5. Wineglass Bay
Wineglass bay is located on Tasmania’s Freycinet Peninsula and is considered one of the top ten beaches in the world.  Getting to this beach can be a challenge as it is a two hour walk from the Freycinet National Park entrance. But if your not prepared for such a strenuous hike, you could stop at the lookout instead. Either way, this beautifully curved beach is a sight to behold!

This is not an exhaustive list as there are many more incredible places to see in Tasmania. Have you been to Tasmania before? If so, what’s your favourite attraction?
