Rin: Yo, what’s up, Makoto?

Makoto: Ah, Rin, sorry for calling out of the blue. Well, Haru and I both want to get a new phone, and we’re at the shop right now.

Rin: Okay.

Makoto: But it’s our first time using a smartphone, so we’re kinda lost… Rin, you said you changed your phone to a smartphone a while back, didn’t you?

Rin: Yeah.

Makoto: Like, something about how it has some new functions…?

Rin: Right, that thing that calculates time differences. When I’m back in Japan, it knows to switch to the right time zone, so it’s really useful.

Makoto: (Haru, the phone you’re fiddling with right now doesn’t have that function. You’ll need an app or something…)

Makoto: Rin, what other functions or apps would you add to your phone?

Rin: Apps, huh… I don’t really download them, but the one I use for running is convenient. It’s an app for monitoring your body conditions, and when you enter data such as your heart rate or weight, it’ll turn them into graphs that you can understand at a glance.

Makoto: I see, that sounds good, too.

Makoto: (Oh geez, Haru~! You shouldn’t download so many apps~!)

Rin: What’s going on?

Makoto: Haru just downloaded a bunch of mackerel apps to the smartphone on display at the shop…

Rin: Mackerel apps…?

Makoto: There’s “Go for it! Japan’s Champion in Mackerel Fishing,” and there’s “Mackerel Farming Story,” and also…

Rin: The hell are those games…

Makoto: Rin, say something to him too~!

Rin: …well, I guess that’s just Haru being Haru… Geez, tell him this: he’s an athlete, so if he doesn’t get greedy enough to master the newest gadgets, he’s never gonna win!

Makoto: (Haru…, Rin said, you’re an athlete so you should use the newest gadgets. Nooo! You’ve downloaded too many games. Don’t tell me to shut up…!)

Rin: Ahh… …that’s right, maybe Haru should get one of those waterproof models?

Makoto: (Haru, what do you think?)

Makoto: He asked if it’s made for use in water.

Rin: Use in water? I mean those that won’t be damaged even when you drop it in water.

Makoto: (That’s what he said, Haru. Huh? You want to use it underwater?)

Rin: If he wants to use his phone underwater, he’ll need a special case for that.

Makoto: I see…

Makoto: (Hmm, what? It’s annoying? Eeeh? What do you want then, Haru…?)

Rin: Makoto, maybe you two should just get the same smartphone model? Your last phones were the same model, and knowing Haru, he’s not gonna use it even if it’s a smartphone, right? It’s not like Haru ever answers the phone anyway.

Makoto: Ahaha… I guess you have a point.

Rin: Anyway, give me a call when you’re done getting your new phones. There are apps where we can all talk together.

Makoto: Ah, you mean conferencing apps, right!? Okay, let’s chat together with Haru next time, all three of us!

Rin: Yeah, looking forward to it!

Makoto: Well them, I’ll call you later. Thanks, Rin!

Rin: See ya, Makoto!

Makoto: (Ah, Haru! Did you download more games again…!? Geez, what’s this “Catch the Legendary Giant Mackarel”~~!?
