IchiRuki Transcends Romance

I want to finally give a formalized account on my interpretation of IchiRuki and the ending of Bleach.

Ichigo and Rukia's relationship in Bleach is one that "transcends" traditional romance. It's clearly apparent throughout the series that IchiRuki is the most well developed relationship, with those two having the most interesting character dynamic and on-panel chemistry. Kubo himself chose to focus on this bond the most, starting with their initial meeting with Rukia giving Ichigo his Shinigami powers to kick off the entire story, all the way up until the last chapter where they are still featured as the focal point.

We can see here it is implied that despite being married to other people, Ichigo and Rukia still consider each other to be the most important person in their respective lives. So why is it that they did not end up together? I believe Kubo deliberately had them NOT end up married to each other to emphasize the fact that their relationship goes BEYOND that of a typical romantic one.

I want to start off by saying I strongly disagree with the way Kubo decided to end the series from a pairings standpoint. Having said that, I want to point out some of the things I believe he was trying to convey.

Bleach is a Shounen manga first and foremost, which means romance was never going to be the focal point and Kubo has stated himself in multiple interviews that he does not want to focus on romance. However, that doesn't mean that he would not put emphasis on important relationships between characters. Kubo likes to go for a sort of "Star Crossed Lovers" trope where two characters have strong, albeit not outright romantic, feelings for each other, but yet will be separated by the circumstances. We saw this with Gin/Rangiku where Gin dies just as he reveals his true intentions and feelings for Rangiku

and with Ulquiorra/Orihime where Ulquiorra fades away just as Orihime has finally made him realize the meaning of "The Heart".

Kubo is very effective at writing these types of scenarios which create a sort of sad yet poetic vibe.

He does this in part, with Ichigo/Rukia as well, with their separations, firstly when Rukia decides to stay in Soul Society to repair her past relationships after Ichigo rescues her

and then again after Aizen's defeat as Ichigo is losing his Shinigami powers.

The way these events are framed to show the magnitude of the moment indicates that Ichigo and Rukia consider each other to be the most important person in their respective lives. Of course then it would be extremely out of character for Ichigo to marry Orihime and Rukia to marry Renji, if marriage is to be considered the strongest form of a bond, which in the context of Shounen manga it is not.

Kubo has stated in interview that he considers Ichigo and Rukia's relationship to be one that is more than friendship but different from that of lovers, which is not to say that it is less than that of lovers. Kubo had wanted to develop a unique, one-of-a-kind relationship for Ichigo and Rukia that carries more significance than traditional romance.

That is why in the final chapter it is still Ichigo and Rukia's relationship that is given more attention in contrast with their respective marriages. I believe Kubo wanted something more for these characters, and so by deliberately having them married to other people but still putting the focus on their bond, he is emphasizing that what they have goes beyond the traditional romantic relationships they mysteriously developed with Orihime and Renji respectively.

Again, I don't agree with the decision to do this, as I think it would have been much cleaner and a lot less convoluted if Ichigo and Rukia had just ended up together romantically, since anyone who paid attention would already be able to realize that their bond is much deeper than any typical superficial Shounen romance, but given what we got, this is the way I interpret it.

Another reason why Kubo may have ended the series the way he did was to have Ichigo and Rukia's kids meet each other, paralleling the way they initially met in chapter 1. This is one of the things he was obviously trying to go for with the titles of the first and last chapters both being "Death and Strawberry". And I think that it further enhances my interpretation as he wanted to show that Ichigo and Rukia's bond is one that transcends time and persists across generations.

This idea is one that Kubo has hinted at before. A quote from this color page:

"When the two that share destiny part and reunite, beyond the frame of time, the ceased clock will awake and start to tick once again."

And at the end of the Fade to Black movie which he was involved with the production, Ichigo drops this quote: "If death really isn't the end of everything, then that first time we met might not have really been the first time. For all we know, we might have been connected from way before that. I'm not really sure, but I think maybe once a bond is formed it can never really disappear. And if that's the case, even if we forget everything, we'll all be connected again somewhere in the future."

I believe the intention here was to show the timelessness of Ichigo and Rukia's bond, and that it will persist even after they are both gone. Once again, I think that it would have made for a much cleaner ending if they had just ended up together, but given that Kubo did not go that route, this is the only way I can make sense of the ending. Anyways, that’s the end of my ramblings and I hope this made at least a bit of sense.

Hi. I’m not trolling, I’m just genuinely curious: why do you think ichigo has more of a connection with rukia than orihime?

I don’t think he does, it’s a fact. Short answer? There’s a whole movie about Ichigo and Rukia’s connection: Bleach’s third movie Fade to Black, directly supervised and approved by Kubo Tite himself. Yes, the whole movie centers around their bond and how deep and strong it is. No need to add there’s no such thing about Ichigo and Orihime, right? No episode, no mention in the manga, no movie, no novel, nothing about a connection or bond between them in particular. I think that makes it pretty much clear.Long answer (well, not that long)? There’s a simple, very concrete way to know it. Since Ichigo is the common factor here then let’s have Ichigo (and Kubo Tite) himself tell you about his relationship with these two. So we can just list every quote Ichigo has said about Rukia and his relationship with her. Then let’s do the same with Ichigo about Orihime, shall we?

*Just as a note, I won’t consider any “filler episodes” people love to blame on why we ship Ichiruki, all of these come from the manga and stuff directly supervised and approved by the author. I also won’t be quoting direct dialogue between the mentioned characters (that’d make the list extra long), just exclusive quotes from Ichigo (and Kubo Tite) about his bond with these characters.

Ichigo about Rukia:

“Rukia saved my life. She changed my destiny”

“Now that it’s like this… I painfully feel it. So this is what happens when you go to soul society. You disappear. Everyone’s memory of her existence in this world… vanished without a trace… like the wind.”

“I came to protect you, but it was me who received help again”

“Yes, she is weird, that’s why I have to save her”

“I will pass through even 100 million blades” [to rescue her]

“I swore to my soul!!!” [to save her]

When asked what should people focus on during the 3rd movie: “Ichigo and Rukia. The change in their feelings.”

If I’m forgetting any that I should add, let me know, but I think that’s most of them. So now let’s move to the second part:

Ichigo about Orihime:

“If you want to kill Inoue… you’ll have to kill me first…”

“Inoue is our friend. I’ll go and save her myself.”

Kubo Tite referring to Ichigo and Orihime’s bond:

So if after all this people still doubt who had a better connection or was more relevant to Ichigo I honestly can’t help… but Orihime can!!

Bonus! Orihime about Ichigo and Rukia:

“Kuchiki-san is kind… strong… and beautiful… and she makes Kurosaki-kun happy…”

“She’s not just a friend… To Kurosaki-kun, Kuchiki-san is a very important person! Kuchiki-san is… the person who changed his world.”

And now we’re done. I hope it’s clear why I think Ichigo has, indeed, a greater connection with Rukia. If you still can’t see it, well “none so blind as those who will not see”, right?

In conclusion, you can ship Ichigo and Orihime all you want, be it because you think they look cute together, because you imagine their relationship being lovely or just because you think Orihime is pretty and that’s fine. What I really can’t tolerate is when people try to pretend these facts don’t exist, blame the fact we ship Ichiruki on fillers and tell others Rukia was somehow irrelevant to Ichigo or try to put their connections to the same level when it’s clear which one was superior, by far. The author missed the chance of having Ichigo married to his soulmate, and that is an irrefutable truth.

So I was talking with a friend about Ichigo and Rukia’s relationship - yep huge Ichiruki shipper here so this is a little biased - and he brought up the 5 Love Languages with respect to their relationship. So it got me thinking about what their love languages would be and why. This is just my opinion and I’m not a psychologist so there may be other perspectives on this. That’s totally natural. I’m throwing this under a read more so it doesn’t clog up everyone’s dash…

TRYING TO MAKE AN IR WALL

Because of the quarantine, I sit at home all day *but I do it all my life lol*. A few days ago, I had an idea. Inspired by the return of bl**ch and the fact that my room has become super boring, I decided to create a wall in which I put all my love for IchiRuki.

For 12 hours I selected all the IR moments from the manga, and then began to collect them in a common poster. It took me 3 days, but I'm happy that I was able to do it. Here are more than 100 moments that failed to blow on K*bo and 686 end...

(I couldn't resist adding an easter egg and a few Ichigo moments, because it's too exciting) The most difficult thing was that I had never read the manga, which made it difficult to determine the location of frames and moments, but now all the IR moments are collected in one frame that's really cool.

*I have a lot of mistake here but I hope you won't find them lol*

In the beginning, there was Rukia and Ichigo...

This essay delves into the dynamics of Ichigo and Rukia being the two main characters of Bleach. Please bear in mind that we are not saying “main protagonist” which would only mean Ichigo Kurosaki. We are saying, main characters. It is funny because there are people claiming that Rukia is not the female lead of the story. If one were a sane reader, it is just too obvious that Rukia is the female lead of the story, and Ichigo is the male lead. However, to further support this theory, we are going to analyze the facts about Ichigo and Rukia as laid down by the author.

Ichigo: Cancer, Ruling planet is the Moon, Black Sun, The Sand, The Strawberry Rukia: Capricorn, Ruling Planet is Saturn, White Moon, The Rotator, The Death One doesn’t need to be an expert literary critic to see that Bleach is heavily influenced by the Eastern Philosophy of Yin and Yang. If we are to be more technical here, this would be under the theory of Binary Oppositions.

Literary critics known as Structuralists regard Binary Oppositions as the FUNDAMENTAL organizer of human thoughts. Meaning, humans understand their world through the relationship of two opposing forces. Consider how we differentiate Good and Bad. Man and Woman. Heaven and Hell. Black and White. It’s a universal thing. For Westerners, it’s known as Binary Opposition. But for Eastern cultures, this is simply Yin and Yang. How does this relate to Bleach? Bleach was actually called Black at first, but Kubo thought that it was too common, so he considered the name “White.” In the end, he chose Bleach. Clearly, the concept of Yin and Yang is evident in his work. Or…

Shinigami (Black) : Arrancar and Quincy (White) How does this relate to IchiRuki? Duh. Obvious. Black Sun, White Moon. Cancer, Capricorn. July 15, January 14. Now to further explain Bleach in Yin/Yang terms:

In Bleach dichotomy, Ichigo is the Yin. Rukia is the Yang. According to Encyclopedia Britannica: “Yin is a symbol of earth, femaleness, darkness, passivity, and absorption. It is present in even numbers, in valleys and streams, and is represented by the tiger, the colour orange, and a broken line.” “Yang is conceived of as heaven, maleness, light, activity, and penetration. It is present in odd numbers, in mountains, and is represented by the dragon, the colour azure, and an unbroken line.” Notice the words earth, darkness, femaleness, passivity, absorption, and orange for Yin (Ichigo). 1. Why is Ichigo the Yin? Yin is the female half. How? To be clear, Ichigo is not effiminate. But he is the passive one. Considering the number of times he gets beaten and dominated by Rukia, yes, he is the passive one. More on the passivity aspect: Ichigo - The Sand “If destiny is made of gears And we are the sand in between that is torn apart There is nothing left to do but being powerless I just want power” Powerless ———-> Passivity But it is more interesting when I did more research: Ichigo, whose zodiac sign is Cancer, is ruled by the moon. In astrology, the Moon is the representation of femininity. Feminine: Passive. 2. Ichigo, the Cancer aspect: Ichigo ——> the Emotional One Cancer - associated with emotional dependency. That’s why Ichigo was always the one to do the missing when Rukia is not around. Evidences: Keigo asking Ichigo if he missed Rukia. Ichigo denying it, but failing miserably. The first time Rukia was taken to Soul Society, everything felt wrong for Ichigo.

Ultimately, "I wonder, can I keep up with it? The speed of the world without You in it?” —————> Delusional people denying that it was meant for Rukia. LOL. Definitely not the first time Ichigo has missed Rukia. —————> THIS POEM IS FOR RUKIA. —————> TEEHHHHEEEEEE. Sappy Ichigo is sappy. 3. What of the Darkness aspect of the Yin? “The rain drags the BLACK Sun down…” 4. What of the Absorption aspect?

No Brainer. According to Kubo: Ichigo’s color is Orange. Not to mention his ORANGE hair. 6. What of the Earth aspect? This is mindblowing, because the evidence is given by Oreeeehheeee herself. If I were the rain That joins SKY and EARTH that otherwise never touch Could I join two hearts as well? HAHA. DUDES. ICHIGO is the EARTH. The human boy who met a death god. The human who shouldn’t have met a shinigami in the first place. They otherwise shouldn’t have “touched.” But because it’s a story of destiny… Bleach is born. ————> Shipper Ori, in addition to shipper Aizen and Shipper Urahara. Now on to Rukia… Notice the words heaven, maleness, light, activity, penetration and azure for Yang (Rukia). 1. Rukia is the Yang. The masculine half. Gosh. We’ve had enough of the accusation that Rukia is a “boy” for us not to see the masculine aspects of her personality. She is the more dominant one, which is best shown in her tsundere-ism. 2. What of the light aspect? Dudes. Ray of light dudes. Ray of light. Dudes. White Moon dudes. White Moon. 3. What of the penetration aspect? Seriously, how many times does Rukia have to stab Ichigo for us to notice it? lol. 4. What of the azure aspect?

Again, no brainer. According to Kubo, Rukia’s color is violet, which is in the same color hue with azure. Basically, the complement of Orange. Not to mention her violet eyes. A bonus: Capricorn whose ruling planet is Saturn. Saturn in astrology which is related to Time and Death. Most importantly, Saturn who is Kronos in mythology. According to Theoi:

“KRONOS (or Cronus) was the Titan god of time and the ages, especially time where regarded as destructive and all-devouring.” —————> Activity aspect of the Yang.

“Many human generations later, Zeus released Kronos and his brothers from this prison, and made the old Titan king of the Elysian Islands, HOME OF THE BLESSED DEAD.” ———————> Rukia from Soul Society, Gotei 13, “Court of PURE SOULS” “Saturn has been depicted as the punishing father, but also as the Grim Reaper, who cuts life short. Mortality is the ultimate restriction…” ———————-> Rukia, “The Death.” Rukia the Shinigami. Rukia the Soul Reaper. “as Father Time, he is the wise one that inspires urgency in our quest to fulfill our life mission.” ———————-> Rukia, Ichigo’s first mentor, the one who gave him the power to protect, the one who changed his life, the one who dried his rain. 5. As the Capricorn, Rukia is the more practical and rational in dealing with things, a sharp contrast to Ichigo’s brashness. 6. More on the Activity aspect of the Yang: Rukia - The Rotator “If they say destiny is gears We are the reason for turning it Believing it doesn’t connect, we go forth Beyond the power of the matching gears” Rukia is the one who gave Ichigo the power to protect. She was the initiator. Rukia, as the Yang, represents movement.

Rukia is the Rotator to Ichigo’s Sand. 7. If Ichigo is the Earth, who is Heaven? Obviously, Rukia. The one who comes from the land of the dead. Further investigation into the concept of Yin and Yang led to this: "Early Chinese cosmological treatises describe two souls, or aspects of the soul, within a living person. They are called hun and po. The hun soul is animated by yang, the po soul by yin. ” “In the classical sources, after death the hun soul flies around the heavens, as a god (shen) or immortal (xian), while the po soul stays with the body and returns to the earth.” —————> Hun (Yang) returns to heaven as a god. Rukia is a death god. Rukia is Heaven, as Ichigo is the Earth. —————> YIN AND YANG : ICHIRUKI (On a side note though… Why is Rukia’s power Ice - based? I think I’ve found an answer for this: “The chilliness comes from heaven while the warmness comes from the earth.” —————> Chill Rukia is Chill.) Okay, so Bleach is functioning on the concept of Yin and Yang. So? a. How does Eastern Philosophy treat Yin and Yang dynamics? “The interaction of these two establishes he (harmony), so it gives birth to things. Perhaps this is the law of everything yet there is no form being seen.”(Zhuangzi, Chapter 21).” Yin/Yang is Harmony. Yin/Yang is the law of everything. b. “yinyang is emblematic of valuational equality rooted in the unified, dynamic, and harmonized structure of the cosmos.” Cosmos? You mean, like the sun, moon, stars and the heavenly bodies?

LIKE THE BLACK SUN AND WHITE MOON?????? (on a side note again, Kubo got Rukia’s name from the flower Cosmos. It was a case of misheard Latin name. Also, Lucia (Italian light) when translated to Japanese, becomes Rukia. Yep. That’s why Ray of Light.) Continuing with Yin/Yang…

C. “The two are both said to proceed from the Great Ultimate (taiji), their interplay on one another (as one increases the other decreases) being a description of the actual process of the universe and all that is in it. In harmony, the two are depicted as the light and dark halves of a circle.” From the interaction of Yin and Yang comes the initiation of events. In Bleach, it was Ichigo and Rukia’s meeting that started Bleach. Remember: One boy. One Shinigami. An accidental encounter. A Story of Destiny (and the destiny that Ichigo inherited)… Ichigo and Rukia started Bleach. Ichigo and Rukia are the main characters. Ichigo is the male lead. Rukia is the female lead. d. Yin and Yang is the law which governs heaven and earth. It is a celestial pairing. IchiRuki is a match made in heaven. How does Ichigo and Rukia interplay?? “The sun that locks Heaven” ———> Brings darkness, absorption… “The moon that eclipses the night” ———-> An indication of activity, the rotator e. How is Yin (Ichigo) and Yang (Rukia) connected? “Time goes by but these bonds will never break.” ———–> Of course. Could you ever fight destiny? It was bound to happen. In the beginning, there was Ichigo and Rukia… That’s why in the ending, it will be Ichigo and Rukia. It’s a constant. Just how Yin/Yang is constant. Heck, it’s a story of destiny.

It’s as constant as the sun and moon. As constant as the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn. They govern our lives. Everywhere you look, there’s IchiRuki. Because, Yin/Yang. Because, Binary Oppositions.

Furthermore, it was planned by “God (Aizen)" himself.

f. Why do most Japanese ship IchiRuki?

Because, Eastern philosophy. Yin/Yang. They know it.

Now on to delusions…. 1. Oreeeehhhheeeeee is the White Sun. ———————> LOL. LMAO. ———————> Terribly jealous, that’s why they invented their own. Poor souls. 2. Oreeeehhhheee (rain) + Ichigo (sun) = rainbow. ————————–> LLLLLLLLLLLLOLLLLLLLLLLLL to Infinity and beyond. ——————-> Ori was never explicitly stated as the rain. It was just inferred from her poem (which is IchiRuki in the first place). ——————-> The only characters given titles are Ichigo (Black Sun) and Rukia (White Moon). ——————-> Okay. Have your rainbow. Complete with ponies, butterflies and Ori’s fairies. It’s a colorful, MAKE-BELIEVE WORLD. Nice. ——————-> We’ll have our eclipse. Haha. Try to fight the cosmos. 3. Orreeeehhhhheeeee is more compatible with Ichigo. ———————> Nowhere in Yin/Yang is Orrreeehhhheee. ———————> Her color is pink!!! *guffaws* ———————> It’s not a celestial pairing. She’s not the Yang to Ichigo’s Yin. Not the Queen to Ichigo’s king. ———————> Bonds are easily forgotten. ———————> You want to be the rain? Good luck with Ichigo’s soul girl. 4. An Origo actually said that the rain is good for Ichigo. Seriously, I’ve even talked with that dude here in Tumblr. ———————> Which part of "Zangetsu hates the rain” don’t you understand???? ———————> Which part of “Thanks to you, the rain has stopped” don’t you get????? ———————> On a more positive note, the rain could connect Heaven and Earth. IchiRuki ftw. 5. IchiRukis use evidences from the early parts of the series. ———————> What’s wrong with this? Even early on in the story, Kubo knew that Ichigo and Rukia would be the center of the story. ———————> Every arc, even when it’s not about Ichigo and Rukia, always concludes with IchiRuki. a. Soul Society Arc:

“Time goes by, but these bonds never break.” “Death and strawberry 2” “When Rukia, his ray of light, stopped his rain again.” “I stabbed you and gave you the power to protect again.” d. Quincy Arc:

“Training in the Royal Realm together.” “Peach scene. With Double Meaning (that kind of which involves penetration).” —————-> What do you have? Oh, don’t include 589. It was a fail, I’m sure you know it. He wasn’t impressed. —————-> Don’t tell me that your pairing is grounded on boobs, and solely boobs??? —————-> Ichigo in the Lust Arc? Ichigo wasn’t proud. It was a fail again. You know it. —————-> Character development you say? The only thing I see is Ori’s continuing desperation, Ichigo’s being unaware of it, and Ichigo and Rukia’s bond getting stronger by the minute. 6. IchiRuki is Brotp. IchiRuki is like mother-son. —————–> What part of Black Sun/White Moon don’t you get? —————–> What part of a Story of Destiny don’t you understand??? —————–> Sand and Rotator. King and Queen. How could you be so blind? —————–> IchiRuki is definitely romantic. 7. IchiRuki is dead???? —————-> Story of Destiny. Does Destiny die? —————-> Yin/Yang. The law of the Universe. Does it die? —————-> “Time goes by, but these bonds never break.” —————-> Ichihime, did it ever start? More like Ori and her fantasy, honestly.

Yin and Yang : IchiRuki (The Universal Law of Bleach Universe)

Smart Kubo is smart. He had it planned out in the beginning.

Japanese Kubo is Japanese. Eastern philosophy of Yin/Yang guys. It’s an Asian thing.

Their Bankai costumes are even matched…

Yin and Yang. Man and Woman. King and Queen. Cancer and Capricorn. Orange and Violet. Black Sun and White Moon. Sand and Rotator.

What are your thoughts on why Kubo made such a relationship canon? Some people say he did it because IR fans burned his comics and merch after finding out the ending?? but that means it has already happened.... then why did he make IH canon at all? When until the very end he couldn't even bring himself to make a meaningful moment between them and instead changed Ichigos' entire character to an OOC and made him have his last meaningful moment with Renji!? It doesn't make sense!

No thoughts, head empty. Ok seriously, we will never know what exactly happened with Ku/bo and the sudden change in direction Bl/each had thowards the end and especially why? Why such trainwreck? Why 14 years of story was thrown away or retconned? Who knows, we can make one too many suppositions about it but in the end, we will never know the truth.

About not making IR canon but making RR/IH while still hilighting IR in the last chapter and also using the kids for that reason, makes me go “he wanted to be original, a smart ass” as in he maybe wanted Ichigo and Rukia’s relationship to not go the romantic route, bc romance is seen as “less” and they are more than that and thus making their relationship something that trascend that, which is still bulls*it to me. But that still doesn’t explain all the other shi*ty things that happened in the end, so it’s probably not it.

Tbh I just think, he just didn’t care anymore, the anime stopped, Bl/each lost popularity, the sales dropped, the readers of jump downvoted every single chapter of the last arc, he also got away from twitter and thus from his fans too, jump put him/bleach in the gag section, when the ending was approaching, he didn’t even go to the musicals to see them (something he did many times in the past), I don’t know, too many of the little things we’ve seen and know all point out to something not being right. I think the Bl/each ending was just the result of a man that thought he was the s*it but ended up being sh*t. That’s why it doesn’t make sense, bc it was supposed to not make one little bit of sense, if he fell from the top to the bottom bc of us, then we had to fall with him too.

(_///_) First let me apologize for not answering sooner, I have been busy with work, I was preparing for our upcoming Holiday week off. Today is finally Friday, and what better way to start a mini Vacation from work, than talking about IchiRuki. ᕙ(^▿^-ᕙ)

Oh & no worries, your question came in loud and clear ;) & as you can probably tell I ship IR pretty hard too. ;)

My goodness……! they’re so many parts that make me personally think Ichiruki will be Canon,my dear anon…. So sit back and enjoy all the Ichiruki goodness, as I list them off. *rubs hands together ;D*

For me this moment was when I started to ship Ichiruki,

I felt this was important, it was very telling of things to come, for me the foundation of Ichigo and Rukia’s “more than friends less than lovers” part of their relationship, in my opinion started taking shape here, this was the cornerstone, their personal bond began here.

Look at Ichigo’s face….

It’s like it was the first time he had ever been comforted by anyone (other than by his mother), in my opinion Rukia’s words touched him, and made him see her in a different light. I saw it as her understanding him, understanding what he needed at that moment. No one before had ever done that for him, and it matter to him that Rukia understood.

*Keep this moment in mind (chapter20), because I’m going to come back to it again in a bit.*

The Soul Society arc (or the Ichiruki arc hehe) was full of moments, but for me it was at the end when I felt another important moment occurred.

Ichigo assumed that Rukia would go back to the Living world with him and the others, he didn’t even ask her, why is that? :D

I find this extremely interesting because, at one point his insecurities made him doubt about even going to rescue her, “Rukia’s originally from that other world” But now, he just assumes she’d go back with him?……. uh huh?

Then we see this…

“ I remember now…The reason why….I wanted to save you so much…”

Wow look at that…The reason why he wanted to save her wasn’t just out of obligation, duty, or to repay a debt. He had another thing motivating him, it was Rukia’s happiness and well being. He wanted to see a smile on her face again. That’s why he assumed she would have gone back home with him, he knew she was happy while she was in Karakura Town.

He also mentions something very important…

I interpreted these as Ichigo’s thoughts, inner or internal monolog. I also interpreted this as Ichigo having “feelings” for Rukia, he may not yet know or understand what exactly he’s feeling, but its something…something very important. *wispers, L.O.V.E*

But alas, Ichigo’s still such a young man….still so naive about these matters. Time will tell….

Now we move on to …The Arrancar Invasion arc, The Hueco Mundo arc, & The fake Karakura Town arc.

I’m going to skip through these, even though we have some great moments here, like the “Man in my heart“ speech, Isshin to Masaki ”We’ve got three Daughters now !!!” xD ( Papa ships it.)

Orihime’s teary confession to Matsumoto on what a positive influence Rukia has on Ichigo, and how inept she is in that regards.

All the countless…

“Ru…kia….Rukia!..RUUkiAAA!!!….Rukia?….I’m going to save Rukia!!!” uttered by Ichigo. *wispers Dude you’re in L.O.V.E * xP

I’m skipping through these because even though they show Ichigo and Rukia’s relationship growth, and how much they have grown to care for one another, in my opinion they only reinforce that they indeed have a growing bond.

All those moments were great! but for me not until this moment in The fake Karakura town arc, did I stop and say “OMG! this is serious, really serious, something is going to happen”

Remember when I asked you to keep (chapter 20) in mind? When Rukia said to Ichigo “When you want to talk,when you think it’s okay to talk…Talk to me.”

Look what Kubo did, look at what Ichigo said to Isshin.

(for the record, this was 378 chapters after the initial conversation or “heart to heart” Rukia and Ichigo had… This is a good 7-8 years later I’m estimating, you see Bleach had been in serialization in Shonen jump for 8 years by chapter 375, and what I’m about to show you came 23 chapters after that….chapter 398)

I was elated, you have no idea how happy I was when I saw and read these lines.

Kubo resurfaced this conversation, this “heart to heart” I felt so good knowing that this really did matter, It was an important moment in Ichigo and Rukia’s relationship. It really did matter to Ichigo, It was important, and best of all it did comfort him. “I remembered that it made me feel a lot better”

Omg!!! let’s remember everything that Ichigo had gone through before this point…and take a moment to appreciate that Rukia’s words had always been on Ichigo’s mind, and I like to think that he also held them in his heart.

*(╥﹏╥) tears of shippers bliss*

Speaking of tears….*sigh’s* Chapter 423, Farewell Swords. An epic goodbye…

(╥﹏╥)……(╥ . ╥)…..(; A ;)

How painful !…how painful it must have been for both of them, look at their eye’s, it’s so strong that they can’t hide it, at one point Rukia couldn’t even face Ichigo. (╥ . ╥) also look at the body language Kubo used, in my opinion it looks like both of them are holding themselves close as to comfort themselves, or brace the pain.

Now imagine, how much more it would have hurt if they embraced, or

(; A ;) they would have said “I’m going to miss you” or “I…I Love You.”

(⊙.⊙(☉̃ₒ☉)⊙.⊙)……..ಥ_ಥ nope! That would have been too much. That’s what’s so beautiful about this relationship, such things seem trivial, and unnecessary. With them you just know, they know without saying a single word, and we as readers can feel it too.

On to The Lost Agent arc.

(or the “Ichigo’s depressed for 17+ months because he no longer has Shinigami powers/ability’s, & misses Rukia , So he’s trying this Fullbring thing out arc”. ;P) xD Sorry, I may have my ‘shipper goggles’ on too tightly but for me, in my opinion that’s pretty much what happened, or what matter to me.

Of course, I’m not forgetting Ichigo wanted to continue being able to protect his Family and Friends. In this arc what is emphasized is that Ichigo had the chance to live a normal life, but he was miserable.Time stood still for him, while it kept moving for everyone else around him.

He was lying to himself when he said “This is the normal life I’ve worked 16 years to get…I’m fine with peace until I die.” just like he was full of crap about not missing Rukia. In these 34 chapters we ascertain that a normal life was never intended for Ichigo.

He himself was not content with being powerless, and he chose to do something about it, he sought out other means. When it all fell apart, who was the one Kubo chose to bring him out from the depths of his despair? That’s right…let’s say it together Rukia!

I’m going to pause here, and come back to this arc in a bit.

Now I’m going to focus on Rukia and her feelings. I’m sure you were wondering why I hadn’t really mentioned her yet. I’ll explain why I’m backtracking and stopping precisely here…….

I noticed something back in chapter 52, something very important about Rukia. “Love, Companionship, and Friendship. It’s nothing but trouble”

At the time, I didn’t yet understand why she was so against getting too close to Ichigo and the others. Later we find out she has been let down by friendship (Renji) and hurt due to love in the passed. In my opinion Ichigo had reawaken those feeling’s in her again.

Feelings she had for this man….

Kaien Shiba, who she had respect and admiration for as her Mentor and Superior. I also strongly believe she grew to love him, or have a crush on him.

Even so, she knew her place and respected the fact he was married, she also admired his Wife, so much so she idolized her, she wanted to be like her, like the Woman Kaien loved.

Kaien being the first person to give her a sense of self worth, the first person to show her that her life had a purpose. look how lovingly she remembered him…

“The man who taught me how to fight…and gave me a place in this world… Kaien-Dono who was so warm” (chapter 266)

In my opinion Rukia tried to keep Ichigo at a distance due to her not wanting to confuse the feelings she once had for Kaine on to Ichigo, even though it was apparent she cared deeply for Ichigo, and easily understood Ichigo better than anyone else, even though she only knew him for such a short time.

Now let’s go back to the Lost Agent / Fullbring arc. I’m going to skip though, to another important moment that stopped me dead in my tracks.

“The Kurosaki Ichigo you…Believed in" (Toshiro Hitsugaya - chapter 467)

Then this moment…..

The look in her eyes speaks a thousand words. I feel, Rukia realized that what she had been feeling for Ichigo was independent from whatever she felt for anyone in the passed. Those feelings (of love) were for Ichigo alone, they had always been only for him, and because of him. I also feel she recognized how much she had changed (she learned to trust and love again) and it was all thanks to him. Even Riruka was touch by Rukia’s words, and I like to think since she was inside her, she also felt what Rukia was feeling. (the Love in her heart)

Now let’s take into account how many times Kubo has separated and reunited Ichiruki, keep in mind that with each new re-encounter it’s always better than the last.

No matter what, Ichigo and Rukia always find a way back to one another.

Because ….

Enough said, don’t you think?

So for me, “In the universe of my mind”…These are the parts of the Manga that show me the reasons, why I strongly believe Ichiruki will become canon.

I know it’s been a long, long time of having to wait patiently by. Just remember “The best rewards in life never come easy, but when they do arrive it was well worth the wait.”
