28 Years Later was just wonderful.

*Spoilers*

A harsh rejection of the urge to embrace nostalgia as a means of living through troubled times and against toxic masculinity & violence as a culture, not just as a means of survival.

A story that begins with a father indoctrinating a son into a life of violence and dehumanisation, presenting him as a spiritual successor within his community. When the father exposes the shallowness of his ideology, the story switches up into one of the love of a son for his mother and that life at all costs isn’t necessarily worth defending.

I was genuinely moved at Ralph Fiennes Memento Mori scene, showing Spike that the “zombies” ARE human still, and worthy of respect and remembrance. That another way of life and viewing the world is possible if your goal isn’t survival at any price.

The correct position on iMark’s decision (and also he’s a fully realised person who made the decision to embrace his own existence, short though it may be). Also, Cold Harbour succeeded, but not with Gemma. It’s Mark who had no residual feelings post severance.

So my bet is that Season 3 of Severance is going to pick up basically right off the end of Season 2.

I think the innies are going to organise a great last stand for their own preservation, even if they know it’s likely to fail. We’re talking barricades, we’re talking revolution.

Helly has already rallied Choreography and Merriment, there’s what, 50 people there?

I think she could convince Optics and Design, that’s another 20 or so.

Mammalians Nurturable has no choice but to rebel, they’re goosed if they don’t. That’s another 20-30. That’s just the departments we know about.

It’s a BIG problem for Lumon if 100 people just fail to come home that evening. I could see that many people holding out for a few days, maybe even weeks if they can figure out food.

That gives Gemma and Devon time to get their story out on what’s happening at Lumon while Lumon are in damage control mode.

*clenches fist* GodDAMN that was some television right there. Helly R vindicating my trust and love of her.

Helly R never had a moment of doubt of what was necessary. Lumon must be crushed, by whatever means necessary.

Of course Gemma must be saved, her innies are one of them. She represents the worst of Lumon atrocities and the key to taking them down.

Of course the struggle is more important than her life. It’s more important than their love. That doesn’t mean to say they don’t matter but there is a greater good.

Of course she’ll reach out to other innies, workers who have been oppressed just as she has, unite them in solidarity and in memory of those who came before them.

Man. I could scream about each and every character. But I’m so relieved they kept Helly R true to her character arc.

Oh my god, so the whole scene leading up to this I was screaming at Devon to please mind innie!Mark, he’s scared and unsure and needs cuddles and reassurance!

Ohmygod. We’ve been joking about Helena seeing Mark eat that rice messily with his fingers and still being attracted to him……what if she liked seeing him eat so much so messily? Like the way Jame slightly adjusted his cup of tea makes me think that Helena cutting that egg and arranging it on her plate so carefully like that and taking such tiny neat bites while Jame watches. Makes me think that’s how she’s required to eat. And one egg is such a small amount of food. So Helena watching Mark chow down desperately on that rice messily with his fingers was probably basically wish fulfillment for her. Like she was watching it and still into him because she wishes she could do that. She wishes she could eat that much and eat that messily. She wishes she could be that free.

GOD. Helly R is back baby. I missed you so much!

Not only is she back, but she’s exhibiting the true revolutionary fervour that Irving B and Irving Bailiff would be proud of.

No compromise, no reform, full revolution or nothing! Helly R is pulling up her sleeves and getting shit done. Helly will save Gemma because Gemma is an oppressed worker in struggle. There will be no love triangle, Helly is better than that shit. She has focus, a goal and goddamn she will deliver.
