been watching the first and only the first episode of severance lately

listened to two songs and now Mark from severance has taken residence in my head again. oh god.

Just thinking about. about outie Mark. About him sitting outside as everything happens inside and just the images of Petey's death flashing in his brain. Thinking about him trying to deal with all of that and KNOWING about that when he's not supposed to while also trying to get into a relationship for the first time in like two years. and thinking about him finally giving in to the curiosity and leaving in the middle of the night because of just some phone call because he needed answers. because he needed that not to be the end.

and thinking about outie Mark going to that place in the middle of the night, and having another horrible scene thrust on him, witnessing a murder happen by the person asking him to trust them, and having to help clean it up because he has to because he came here and got himself involved.

and thinking about him going back after all that, doing what he must to cover it up while still panicking slightly, and then having to make up some explanation, any explanation but what really happened and having to instantly ignore it completely instead of giving himself time to process it because he has to ignore it, to put up a front, because he's been forced into this and because he's now an accomplice just because he was curious enough about his supposed work friends death, concerned and scared and tired enough to answer that call and meet up with them. and now he had to pretend nothing happened. now he had to make up some excuse while also not scaring her away.

because he had already scared her away once. because he didn't want to waste this chance. but mostly because he needed something to hold on to. Not because he really wanted her, not really because of love or because of her specifically. He just needed something to hold on to. Someone to pretend to be normal to, maybe. and that's why he ripped up the photo. why he lashed out the way he did. Because it wasn't really specifically about her, it was just about someone. and he so desperately needed someone but also he couldn't tell someone. and the whole thing was tearing him apart from the beginning because he really needed to tell someone, but he couldn't tell anyone, and she was that someone, but he couldn't tell her, and she wasn't okay with not being told. He needed her to be a pillar to lean on but she wanted him to tell her why he needed someone to lean on in the first place. She needed honesty and he needed a lie.

and I'm thinking about. about him being drunk and just trying to get her to stay but not knowing that she just wants honesty from him. not because he doesn't know honesty should be expected, but because he doesn't want honesty to be what she wants. cause he knows honesty might be the worst thing now, and he's just looking for something else, and all he can think about is his wife, partially because he just wants to keep his mind off recent events, partially because the thoughts of her never really left.

I'm thinking about. what happens next. I'm thinking about him zoning back in and. having to deal with everything that's happened. In the finale.

Danny huddled beneath the mass of warm scales, trying to avoid the rain that sputtered and hissed into steam whenever it touched the resting form of the older halfa. He choked on broken chirps, burying his head against his tail. Everything hurt, one of his paws and wings gone- what had the wanted them for- 

He sniffled, not wanting to cry. At least- at least Jordan had managed to get them out, it could have been worse. Ancients, it could have been so much worse. Mom and Dad were… Ancients he didn’t want to even think about it- 

A huff of smoke wafted over him, and he looked up into Dan’s crimson eye- the other gone to do who knows what with. It was time to go- they couldn’t stay in one place, they had to keep moving lest the GIW catch up. They didn’t have a choice, not now, not if they didn’t want to die- if they ever could now. It didn’t matter. 

He stayed limp as he was picked up by the scruff, the rain soaking into his fur and scales (and still-healing injuries) as the larger dragon launched into the sky. They just had to keep moving, avoid any people, heroes included, and keep moving. Just keep moving.

thinking about severance again. Thinking about. thinking about outie mark. Thinking about outie mark gaining consciousness and nearly tripping probably and he realizes that he's just blacked out and now he's here and he's holding the portrait of his wife and everyone is looking at him like he just said the most insane thing and then on top of all the (insane! horrible!) things that have happened to him lately he learns that not only did his innie somehow pull off the feat he did, but also learns about all the things his innie told her about and that his innie, in his last act out of his workplace, came running out of the room yelling that his dead wife (who's death was the reason he took and continued this job in the first place) was not actually dead. Thinking about him. him having to deal with the aftermath of that. Thinking about that insane moment after he like. switches back on to all of that. ough.
