On hearing confirmation, Ichinose can only burst into laughter. He's done it! If he's alive, that means he survived that damned XB game and surpassed Zero's own expectations! This is proof of his superiority over the masses— proof that he's the smartest, greatest, most peak form of humanity even with his humanity lost! Sure, he must've wound up outside of Shinagawa in the process, but that doesn't matter. What does matter is his victory over those pieces of garbage!

"There's no need for someone like you to show me to some fishing store!" His data may have a few more errors than he'd like to admit with how he forgot what embassy means. "Seeing as how I'm in a good mood, though... Why don't you become one of my new servants? You must be honored that I, Ichinose Kazuma, am choosing you for such an important duty!"

That shit-eating grin fades once he realizes something important... where in Neo-Tokyo is this?

"Are we in Shinjuku? Hm..." Looks like he's still got no clue what's going on.

If one were to ask Hikaru if she expected to be bothered by someone else, and in a particularly rude fashion, she... well, there isn't a non-zero possibility of it not happening. Still, she thinks that at least people could have remembered to have manners around others. (That is the idealist in her speaking, of course!) Still, it's not as if she's the type to let it show that she's mildly annoyed! Instead, she has a rather wide smile on her features. Who knows, maybe this stranger is just having a bad day and decided that she's the one to bother. (And her being dressed in her uniform also probably helps out with that, too.)

She knows— she knows and that's what makes it worse. You don't have to lie? There's no way that she wouldn't know that, but if she doesn't lie, what'll happen? She'll crumple, she's sure.

Blue eyes stare daggers into the ground as her fists clench. I don't need empty words, Mr.Q. You couldn't have saved Sui in that moment and we both know that...

As Kuronaka's heartbeat threatens to send her into panic, she inhales deeper than she has in the past few days. "Don't beat yourself up too much over it."

that kuronaka is lying is evident -- q is only left to wonder why . or maybe that isn't the right place to start ? the point isn't that she won't tell the truth ; it's that there is a truth to be told ... or something like that . ( he's really terrible at this . there are so many better candidates to comfort her right now , and yet when he heard about yakumo's fate , he'd still come running . )

i do think there's something inherently tragic about how magata views AI vs how the UDX robot views magata. because the UDX robot was made as a sentient AI and thus could feel and experience complex thought, while magata continued to view it as a machine when she was alive. the UDX robot very clearly respected and cared for her if it accepted having its personality data overwritten by magata and continuing its orders even in her death for the sake of bringing her back to life. this is a form of love

It doesn't need to know something as insignificant as that— the act of memorizing the face and name of someone who'll "pass" shortly would be meaningless. ( It isn't the AI's fault; everyone in Neo Chiyoda knows that this area is off-limits. )

"For what reason have you done so?" A question that, in reality, doesn't have to be answered. It won't let him leave regardless. Magata smiles. "Do you need something?"

this is not his wisest idea . the proof is in the fact that yukito has come here alone : he knows the others would never approve of this . they would try , and probably succeed , in dissuading him ... so he simply ran off without telling them . now here he stands before zenichi magata's ... laboratory ? compound ? politely knocking on the front door like this is a totally normal thing to do .

She had done her best to fix the small, rabbitlike thing (it didn't look like a rabbit or a squirrel or a bear, somehow like all and neither all at once, to which she could relate), even sewing on a bowtie of fabric scraps to help reattach its head. Whether Yo agrees with her thoughts of the animal's charm remains to be seen.

Frankly, Kuronaka couldn't make heads or tails of what Chiemi was holding. It looked kind of like a chinchilla, maybe, but... no, that's not it. Maybe it's one of those Lobubi things that Tsuruko thinks are cute? Honestly, he's not sure if he's a good judge of what is or isn't cute if this is what's all the rage.

The tie makes it look pretty dapper, I guess... I don't get it.

"Yeah." A brief nod. Would it hurt to come out and ask? No, wait... I think Chiemi probably wants me to say what it is... "That's a really cute elephant."

—And hold Ichinose does. After the eternity passing by while his body recharged, Ichinose could do nothing but hold, not that he has any awareness during this period. No, this is the first time he's ever woken up from what he'd been led to believe to be eternal sleep. At the time, it was a deeply terrifying experience, watching it all go dark around him as his voice petered out...

It's only by some miracle that his body didn't rust.

"MERCY—!" Thanks to not being rusted and what he remembers last, it's only natural that his first words would be him pleading for his life. His second words, of course, would be what anyone would say when waking up somewhere entirely unfamiliar:

"Wh— Where the hell...?" Is this heaven like Ichinose believes he deserves, or is this hell where every useless idiot thinks he should be? Or some secret third thing?? Fuck if he knows; all that stuff was beneath him. What this man also knew, actually, is that working himself up would only lead to him shutting down. Again. ( Time to keep calm for once in your life, Kazuma. )

Gathering his bearings while trying not to panic, he's slow to get to his feet. Ichinose knows that first things first, he has to figure out where he is. Blonde hair catches his eye and he's practically barreling towards the woman on sight.

"You there!" Having no manners for a stranger, he's pointing a finger right in her face. "Tell me where this is immediately!"
