Rebecca’s possessed by a dybbuk. That’s why the summoning got fucked up. The dybbuk came out for a bit with no one knowing, I’ve called it Mike. Mike tricked me and that’s how I found out. 

Rebecca is back in control now.

I’ve got books on the subject and have been doing research.

I’d say you were screwing with me if I didn’t know this town any better. Begs the question how exactly you mime stab someone, but guess them’s were fightin words.

Rough luck, least till they get bored and move onto something else and find somebody to be the next flavor of the month. 

Me? Uh, good. I had a thing out of state that overran, managed to actually miss the weirdness, weirdly, but I’m good. More concerned with the Ides of March mime recreation going on. That’s an interesting development.

Raymond ‘Ray’ Ward 

Age: 49 (deceased) - Relationship: Mentor and Friend  - Species: Exorcist -Face Claim: Anson Mount 

Originally from Seattle, Ray was more of a parent to her than her actual parents. Her first contact with him was at 21 following and slightly bungled first attempt at an exorcism at her internship at a local newspaper. Despite some misgivings he saw someone with some talent and some potential and offered to help.

Ray was someone that believed in the sink or swim method of teaching. She preferred learning by doing and trial and error. The two of them shared a lot of  similar personality traits like stoicism, sarcasm and stubbornness, so they were well suited and got along well, going from reluctant friends to her viewing him as a parental figure in her life.(In a similar way to Ellie and Joel from The Last Of Us and Rube and Georgia from Dead Like Me.)  “Don’t bleed in my car,” she quickly learned was ‘Ray Speak’ for “please be okay.” They were both estranged from their families and although Ray didn’t talk about him directly, he had a son who got into summonings and was killed when a banishment attempt went wrong. Ray didn’t discuss his son much, but his death was the reason he got into exorcisms and a large reason why he tried to shield Cassie from the demonology side of exorcisms right up until his death. He didn’t want to lose another kid. 

Ray was killed by a Caballi six years ago and the exact circumstances of his death are still unclear to her years after the fact. After his death there were a lot of unanswered questions and anger. Caballi are unkillable, but that didn’t stop her from looking for something that could. When their former friends and contacts couldn’t, or more accurately, wouldn’t, she started cutting ties and went her own way. Mistakes were made and she became withdrawn and difficult to reason with and ended up getting mixed in with the wrong group that took an interest in recovering harm rituals. At the time she was naive and felt useful to them when they asked for help in getting a working translation for one. She hadn’t had any experience of them and the damage they could do, but after seeing another lesser one in action she realised it wasn’t something she wanted any part of and started deliberately mistranslating the transcript to the point of being un-salvageable. She stole their original copy and took off the first opportunity she got four years ago and is now very much still on their shitlist. It’s one of her biggest regrets. Something she has spent her time since trying to make up for.
