Amulets vs. Talismans

Both Talismans and Amulets are magickal objects that are small in nature, therefore making them conspicuous and able to be worn or carried without arousing suspicion. Often, they will be pieces of jewellery suitable for everyday wear or objects that can be discreetly carried on your person.

1. Amulet: provides protection from danger and harm.

2. Talisman: attracts a particular benefit to the wearer/carrier. 

AMULETS:

The general consensus is that Amulets provide protection against bad luck, illness, and evil. They may do this in a general sense, or serve a more specific protective purpose.

The most common form of Amulet to be found, are necklaces and pendants as they can be worn daily without raising alarm, and it is believed by some that the closer to the body an Amulet is worn, the more powerful its effects will be.

Some potential Amulets include: gems and crystals, stones, figurines (people, deities, animals, mythological creatures); diagrams; bones; plants, and words.

TALISMANS:

Talismans are, like Amulets, items that hold magickal power. 

There is debate over what the exact differences between Amulets and Talismans are, and it will vary between sources as to what you read or see. 

In general, Talismans are said to draw things to the wearer/carrier, instead of have a passive protective effect and their magick is specific and not generalised; by this, I mean that unlike Amulets that can just serve general protective purposes, Talismans are used to attract specific benefits tat are determined by their design. They can also be charged to increase their power.

Talismans are more complicated than Amulets in appearance; Amulets can simply be a crystal hung on a leather throng that you wear around your neck, whereas Talismans tend to have symbols, figures or incantations carved or engraved onto them in colours that correspond to the intended benefit you wish to bring upon yourself. 

When it comes to having your Talisman on your person, it is much more common for the item to be something you can carry in your purse, pockets or bad than something you’d wear. They can also be placed near the item or person you wish to bestow the benefits upon. For example, you may place the item above a child’s bed if you want to give them good dreams, or put it into your purse if you wish to draw wealth and prosperity to yourself.

(Note that this is not the full list, but I will add safe crystals at the end) these are safe to wear and hold, just not a good idea to drink the water the crystal was submerged in.

Of course, it is okay to wear these crystals, but do not use them in elixirs or put them in water.

* Abalone: Organic material. May contain bacteria or pollutants/toxic materials from the water in which it was grown.

* Actinolite: May contain asbestos. Not for use in elixirs.

* Adamite: Contains arsenic

* Amazonite: lead and radiation

* Angelite: Converts to Gypsum when immersed in water.

* Aquamarine: Contains aluminum

* Azurite: Large amounts of copper

* Bastnaesite: Contains toxic elements which can react in contact with water.

* Brazilianite: Contains Aluminum. Not recommended to use in its raw form.

* Black tourmaline: radioactive

* Boji-stones (aka Moqui Balls,Shaman Stone, Shamanic Star Stone): Contains sulphur, pyrite and/or marcasite

* Bumble Bee Jasper (aka Bumblebee): Contains anhydrite, hematite, sulfur, arsenic. Care should be taken – polished stones typically have a protective coating. Wash hands after holding. Do not touch hands to eyes or mouth while holding. Not for use in elixirs.

* Chalcopyrite (peacock stone): Contains copper and sulphur

* Chrysocolla: Contains high levels of copper. Safe for handling but not for use in elixirs.

* Cinnabar: Contains mercury. Wash hands after holding. Do not touch hands to eyes or mouth while holding. Not for use in elixirs.

* Covellite: Contains copper and sulphur

* Crocoite: Contains poisonous/toxic levels of Chromium. Do not touch hands to eyes or mouth while holding. Not for use in elixirs.

* Cuprite: Contains poisonous/toxic levels of copper. Wash hands after holding. Do not touch hands to eyes or mouth while holding. Not for use in elixirs.

* Dioptase: Contains high levels of copper. Safe for handling but not for use in elixirs.

* Fluorite: Fluorine, dissolves in water

* Galena: Contains lead. Not for use in elixirs.

* Gem Silica: Contains high levels of copper. Safe for handling but not for use in elixirs.

* Lapis Lazuli: Contains Pyrite inclusions, which contain Sulphur.

* Labradorite: Aluminum

* Iolite: Contains aluminum

* Malachite: Contains poisonous/toxic levels of copper. Polished stones typically have a protective coating. Not for use in elixirs.

* Marcasite: Exposure to oxygen may form a white powdery residue which is poisonous/toxic Sulfuric Acid. If this occurs, do not touch or wear next to skin. Not for use in elixirs.

* Mohawkite: Contains copper and Arsenic

* Orpiment: Contains HIGHLY TOXIC levels of Arsenic. Wash hands after use, keep away from CHILDREN!! Do not put hands near eyes or mouth before washing hands. Not for use in elixirs.

* Paragasite: Contains Aluminum. Not recommended for elixirs.

* Pietersite: Fibrous form contains asbestos

* Pyrite: may contain intermixed Marcasite. The Marcasite with time and exposure to oxygen, may form a white powdery residue which is poisonous/toxic Sulfuric Acid. If this occurs, do not touch or wear next to skin. Not recommended for Elixirs.

* Realgar: Contains HIGHLY TOXIC levels of Arsenic. Wash hands after use, keep away from CHILDREN!! Do not put hands near eyes or mouth before washing hands. Not for use in elixirs.

* Serpentine: Fibrous form contains asbestos. Wash hands after use. Not for use in elixirs.

* Smithsonite: Contains zinc and may contain copper (green Smithsonite). Safe for handling but not for use in elixirs.

* Stibnite: Contains lead and antimony. Not for use in elixirs

* Tiger Eye: Fibrous form contains asbestos. Raw forms not for use in elixirs.

* Torbenite: Radioactive

* Tremolite: Fibrous form contains asbestos. Wash hands after use. Not for use in elixirs.

* Turquoise: Contains high levels of copper and Aluminum. Safe for handling but not for use in elixirs.

* Ulexite: Contains toxic Boron.

* Unakite: Contains Aluminum and may also contain Zirconium (Radioactive).

* Vanadinite: Contains poisonous Vanadium.

* Wulfenite: Contains lead and molybdenum. Safe for handling but not for use in elixirs.

* Zircon: Contains zirconium (Radioactive)

Crystals you can’t go wrong with:

* Clear Quartz

* Rose Quartz

* Amethyst

* Smokey Quartz

* Citrine

* Agate

So basically most quartz and agate are fine-

If any of them are dyed, they are not safe to put in water and drink.

My deranged neighbor thinks it is funny to kill and torture wildlife. Killing a family including 2 babies and mom and dad bald eagle is sick. He killed a baby raccoon for the hell of it, shot down with an arrow from her nest in a tree a lactating mother racoon,he abounded his cats( which we gladly feed and love), he shoots geese on another's property to eat,and to top of his list of crimes he skins beavers alive and throws their painful living bodies onto the busy road to be run over. A prime example of one of the many evil ass people who the death penalty was made for. Who does things like this with no remorse at all? He is the most hateful person that I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. He is a coward and a plain piece of shit in my book. Anybody should do that to a animal whatsoever especially our national bird is a disgrace to this country and human kind all together. No help from the county, no help from FEMA, no help from Virginia game land and Fisheries. I hope the indigenous people rise up and blood is house because that has happened once before many years ago before he owned it. You make them angry you pay the price. He's polluting Falling Creek and lying about it. On top of everything else he is just a psychopath. Now where we live you cannot burn leaves after May 1st without a permit despite this he continues to do so every night. The police don't care, fire department doesn't give a shit, and we live and very thick dry woods with extremely dry leaves around so once Park in the whole neighborhood could be broken up yet Flames 10 feet in the air and he's nowhere to be found. When you can deal with seeing the dead daily,have a conversation with them,move them on,banish the evil ones into the void, protect your house and family, speak with your animals on a daily basis, commune with the ethereals and leave them offerings on a daily basis, then come at me with your BS about there are no Spirits in this world. Yet the same people believe in aliens. Nonsense. How can you believe in one and not the other. I was born with the gifts that I have. Some days they feel like curses and not gifts. But everyday that I am alive is a gift itself. So this is why in this world there is nothing to fear except for human beings. As many are shells walking around without souls but malevolent entities inside them.
